We loved staying with Fulvio He is a great host, he'll go out of his way to help you. Excellent food. Loved everything.
Nice room with a view, very good breakfast, very friendly and helpful owner. We ate dinner there twice, excellent food for a very low price (~25 Euro for all courses and different wines).
The sink was not in the bathroom but in the bedroom, very inconvenient. Thin walls.
The owners were extremely nice and friendly. The surroundings, the pool, the house and the rooms are great. We took their cooking class which was a great experience. The kids enjoyed it a lot also. Note: use their GPS coordinates (entered in the right format as they told us!) and you'll end up at most 50 meters from the door.
The place is a bit outside San Gimignano so it might not be convenient if you intend to spend much time in the city. We didn't mind because we went for the pool and the cooking class, and we were not disappointed.
Tuscany at its best. We loved staying at IlVicario. The hosts are so welcoming and friendly. Just so giving and attentionate. They are great cooks and good cooking teachers. I'd go back anytime!
Wi-Fi works close to windows or outside. Reception is very poor in the rooms. But really that shouldn't stop you from visiting this amazing B&b
The location was superior and the small pool was pristine with grape vines growing beside it. We took the cooking class with Katia and learned a lot about how real Italian food tastes and should be. The cooking class was a great evening making new friends. Breakfast was great with cappuccinos, meats, pastries, jams, and juices.
At €60 per person the cooking class was too expensive for what you actually do. If you want it for a family of four or more, it ends up being as much as the rooms. We stayed in room five and the wifi didn't reach our room.
We absolutely loved our stay at Il Vicaro! It was our favorite part of our trip to Italy. The property is lovey with views of the gorgeous Tuscan hillside. Fulvio was an amazing host, we felt right at home. He was charming and very helpful. We loved our dinner there and enjoyed conversing with the other guests. We also took the cooking class which was quite fun. We re-created the recipes for our family when we got back and everyone obsessed over the food! Overall, a fun and relaxing place to stay in Tuscany - highly recommended!
A wonderful spot in the Tuscan hills. Good walking paths close by, only a couple miles to San Gimignano, and very nice rooms. Katia's Tuscan cooking class was a very unique and special experience, and we're enjoying the recipes at home already. The all inclusive dinners by Fulvio were very tasty, with great local wine - we highly recommend it!
The location is excellent for a stay in Tuscany. Approximately 2 miles from San Gimignano and a good touring location for Sienna and Florence. Rolling countryside surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Staff very friendly and helpful
Facilities in need of an update. Our room was dark and had poor lighting. The pool was clean but surrounding area was overgrown with weeds etc. sun beds basic and 'tired'. The term 'Rustic' is being used to gloss over some areas and facilities that need improving. This is a shame as the location is beautiful and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
This was our second visit to Il Vicario. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home and in the end, like last time, didn't want to leave. A true Italian place to say, with amazing food if you request dinner. Stunning location, lovely pool and just beautiful.
Breakfast could be a little bigger and more varied - but that's not the italian way - so can't really complain!
We had the apartment which was separate from the other rooms. It was excellent, light and airy with basic but good equipment. We enjoyed the evening meal presented by the owners which was delicious with good wines to accompany the meal. The swimming pool was much appreciated and the countryside around was very pretty.
Wonderful staff who would go out of their way to help you. Lovely location with a real Italian feel. Excellent stay all round.
The beds were a bit hard but not a real problem. The cigerette buts around the pool area were slightly offputting but only a small thing in the grand scheme of how lovely the stay was. Highly highly recommended.
Nice stuff, clean room, nice breakfast
From the moment we arrived our host Fulvio was extremely helpful, friendly and generous. Nothing was too much trouble. He helped us plan our days with tips on where to go and what to see around Tuscany and also booked a wonderful wine tour for us in the Chianti & San Gimignano area. His Italian home style cooking was amazing. If we are ever able to visit Tuscany again we would love to return.
There wasn't anything to dislike.
The warmth of the welcome and the family feel of the whole place. The experience we all dream of: dinner at the long table, delicious food, generous glasses of good wine and at an extremely good price all in the depths of the most beautiful countryside. We'll hopefully return very soon!
It was a bit of a challenge to find as the interactive map on your web-site wasn't working when we booked! Tucked away in the countryside but needs better signing for those of us who get lost!
Family owned and run. Made us feel very welcome. Dinner on the first night was wonderful and the cooking class was fun.
Hosts were excellent
Katia, Fulvio and "Mama" were all very hospitable, quickly making us feel at home! Cooking class was a fun adventure! Bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and clean. Landscaping and view were beautiful.
Finding Il Vicario, like lots of our driving around Tuscany was a little bit tricky, hard for us to find.
Fulvio is the perfect Italian host, warm, friendly, informative and fun! The location in the country hillside outside of Certaldo is absolutely beautiful with the towers of San Gimignano visible in the distance. Katia is a wonderful cooking teacher with easy and practical instructions for the novice at Italian cuisine. Totally worth the trip to Italy to visit Il Vicario!!
I loved the location, the accommodations, and especially the hospitality of Katje and Fulvio. The cooking class was fabulous and the dinner al fresco was fantastic.
Wish we could have stayed longer.
Fantastic host, wonderful old building, great home cooked meals, lovely atmosphere, swimming pool, great location
Warm, welcoming, personal and authentic. Fulvio and Kathia create a special atmosphere and opportunity to meet other travellers from around the world at their table each evening. A very special experience. The Tuscan cooking lesson was excellent.
The hospitality of the hosts Fulvio and Katia, the food they cooked and the friendly evening meals set on the terrace.
