Hotel Il ConventoVia Speranzella 137/a, 80132 Naples (Show map)
Excellent,
Score from 261 reviews
“ This was a lovely hotel. The room design is unique, warm, and friendly, and provides a welcome rest from the hectic life in Naples. It is well located, just one minute from the via Toledo, which is the main shopping area for Napoli. The port is just minutes away on foot, and even the National Archeological Museum is just a 20-minute walk away. ”

Set in Naples' most historic district, Hotel Il Convento is housed in an ancient building, dating back to the 17th century. Experience a quieter side of Naples in this neighborhood. This hotel is full of character and old-world charm. It is right next to the Convent of Santa Maria Francesca. Just a few steps away you will find the pedestrian shopping area of Via Toledo. The port is also just a short walk away with departures for Capri, Ischia, and Sicily. Each room comes with air conditioning and satellite TV, plus a private balcony. The junior suite features a floral roof garden where you can relax in peace.
Getting around Naples is easy when staying at Il Convento. Catch a local bus from the stop 55 yards away or the metro from the nearest station, 550 yards away. However, you will find lots of interesting monuments and churches in the area, and of course typical restaurants and pizzerias. Hotel Rooms: 14, Hotel Chain: Sea Hotels Group. The most recent booking for this hotel was made on May 21 at 12:26 from Austria.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, providing local advice, calling taxis etc. It was a great help that we could leave our bags in their care after our early morning arrival. We shared a room with our two children and the room was clean, spacious and met our expectations. There was a generous continental breakfast and great coffee. Essential for a quick visit to Naples with kids: 1. Vesuvius - Wow! 2. Herculaneum - Like Pompeii but closer, more compact, better preserved. Experience walking through a Roman town. 3. San Angelo Castle (Naples) - Take the funicular up the hill for great views. 4. Naples - Walk the streets around the hotel and down to the sea front and soak up the Neopolitan way of life. 5. Enjoy all that food and drink - Pizza, pasta, coffee, cakes, icecream, limoncella etc etc Prospective guests should be aware that the hotel is located within a busy residential/shopping neighbourhood so if you leave the windows open be prepared for some late night and early morning noise from the streets outside. Ear plugs were provided although the children's sleep was disturbed. On balance this did not detract from our stay but I expect it would be a problem for some. Take care when walking around Naples - those vespas appear from nowhere!

Good location in central part of town (much nicer than close to the station), helpful staff, comfortable and quiet at night. Some good restaurants nearby. Breakfast available from 7-10. Just be aware that the streets around the hotel are a thoroughfare for motorbikes! Otherwise, a great place to stay.

Excellent location. Staff was very helpful in making reservations to do tours. Nice, clean, comfortable rooms. No towels... Just cloth. No rug for the bathroom and the floor was soaked after a shower. It did not dry our entire stay. Everyone had to put shoes on to use the bathroom.

We loved this hotel. Our children are aged 10yrs and 11yrs and the room was such that they had their space upstairs, and we had our space downstairs. Breakfast was included in our package and it was very good. The shower was a bit narrow

We had a room at the top with a terrace, which was lovely, though we wish we had better weather to enjoy it. Would have been nice to have a bigger bar area.

Location great. Very helpful staff and a lovely warm welcome by Flavia in reception. They worked out it was my birthday from the date on my passport and put a small card, a bottle of wine and nibbles in the room as a present. Room 42 is very nice with its own private (not shared) roof garden. Good coffee & lovely croissants. A place of tranquillity in an outside hectic motorbike crazy city.

Service....the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was good and included in the price. The hotel was renovated within the past 10 years and was very comfortable and cozy. The location was within walking distance of the Port. Very easy to obtain ferries to Sorrento and the islands. We felt very comfortable walking the streets at night. This hotel location gave you a true feeling of the Napoli city life. The location of the Hotel is not far off the main streets, on an extremely narrow and busy alley. Watch out for the scooters zipping along!!

Il Convento is in the heart of old Naples and a short walking distance from the Museum of antiquities, the Via Tribunali. the Cathedral and other central Neapolitan delights. Although not a touristy location it felt very safe and perhaps is situated in a better spot than hotels say on Tribunali which has recently been made up for visitors. Staff were wonderful and all spoke fluent English. Breakfast was great. Room was ideal for family with older children. With very young ones you might want to check that they couldnt come down quite steep stairs of mezzanine. Nothing quite like being in central Naples in the morning.

Excellent staff with a nice atmosphere. The rooms are cosy and well furnished, with an eye for the details. The rooms are reasonably quiet and the pastry always fresh what else you can wish for. The bed was sliding make it next to impossible to read while sitting.

If you wish to stay in a quirky location of Naples in a surprisingly comfortable and nice hotel, then Il Convento is for you. The Spanish Quarter of Naples is very close to the port, the via Toledo (the shopping avenue) and the via Medina (close to the diplomatic area) but is a quirky old world surprise: narrow streets with scooters and cars jostling for space, washing hanging out of windows and Italian matrons shopping at Sri Lankan shops! The hotel is said to be a converted palazzo: it is certainly quite comfortable and with adequately large rooms. The staff are very friendly (always smiling and ready to help). Ask them for their recommnedations for good nearby restaurants: we were recommended Ciro (about five minutes' walking from the hotel) and the food there was superb. The staff are also extremely happy to give you good tips and directions; when I called them earlier, one of the first things the lady said was, 'don't pay more than 10 Euros for the cab fare; the taxi drivers will always ask for 25'; sure enough, thye story was true! Overall, I am very happy to recommend the hotel to others. We had a small problem with the air-conditioning on the last night; but I would guess that was one of those glitches that you face. They promised to get it fixed; I am sure they would have.

If visiting Napoli in order to be immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the city, Il Convento is in the perfect location. Walking distance to many sites but for us mostly a great spot to mix with true Neapolitan life. Extremely friendly and helpful staff with good English skills if you need it. Rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual simple Italian affair. Just fine. The 7:00 am church bells will eliminate the need for a wake up call. This was good to get us up and moving. Otherwise, we did not find the hotel unusually nosy for a city hotel. We were very happy with our stay here.
