The Royal Continental is right on Naples' seafront promenade, in a quiet neighborhood. It features a stunning rooftop pool, with panoramic views out over the Bay of Naples and Castel dell'Ovo.
Score from 1745 reviews Very good
Within easy walking distance of Naples' major tourist attraction. Very friendly staff giving helpful advice. Clean rooms and a good breakfast.
Tiny rooms: "Il Convento" does not mean it is a place to stay when going to conventions, but that it was once a convent and the "rooms" are actually cells where nuns lived. Also, if you are the fearsome type, the area "quartieri spagnoli" might scare you a bit.
The location The staff The decore Plenty going on all the time The real Naples for those who want an experience
Location - noisy, chaotic, narrow streets. Felt like you were in the real part of Naples. Convenient for site seeing. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Not plush!
A nice friendly hotel in a good central location. Three of us enjoyed a good size room which was clean and well equipped including a fridge. AC was good and essential as with the windows open it could be noisy. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is conveniently close to the metro for travelling to surrounding places of interest.
Really nice interior, very comfortable.
The bells of the church next door ring at 7.00, 7.30, 8.00, 8.30, 9.00. With the windows open in Summer, this can be a problem.
Wonderful staff- always make you feel welcome. Great breakfasts. Very convenient location- wish we had stayed longer. Feel safe and secure.Hope to be able to return someday!
Taxi driver had trouble finding hotel, from railway station.
The neapolitan music at breakfast time The thoughtful addition of ear plugs (not needed) in the room
The staff were very helpful. The building was interesting and well furnished. We had a family room with our 2 children in a split level room with their beds on a mezzanine balcony.
We found the staff to be extremely helpful. The front desk Maria and night person Jacobil (sp) were very friendly and helpful with all questions. We liked the location and the antique atmosphere of the hotel. It gave you a feel for what Naples was like years ago. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Our grandson loved his "loft" bed. Naples has the potential to be a wonderful city but economic conditions in Italy maybe preventing it from developing some civic pride. This is the second time we visited and this was less stressful than the last time. The two most welcoming people we meet outside of the hotel were taxi cab drivers!!
The air conditioning could have been more efficient.
In the heart of the Spanish Quarter of Naples, close the the Via Toledo - main street. The seafront/port area is within walking distance. The junior suite with roof terrace is a nice touch.
Noisy at night and the 7am Bell Clanging from a nearby church did wake us earlier than we'd have preferred
Streets outside a bit daunting upon first glance but actually quite safe. There is a restaurant nearby (called 7 sth...) which serves excellent seafood.
Only the location.
noise, bad smell, v small room
Great neighborhood for historical pursuits, dining shopping and fun street life!
Very helpful staff, great location, beautiful hotel
There are church bells which go off at 7am every day
Perfect and welcoming staff, nice terrace in the room, convenient location to travel, breakfest in the room.
Chaotic traffic in the neighborhood with lots of scooters and cars, no windows in the room with terrace. You can't see neither street or backyard from the terrace, only your own room.
The best rooms we had in our whole travel in Italy.
The internet was extremely slow, but I am sure the professional staff of the hotel will fix this soon.
Friendly staff, excellent location
the air conditioning needs updating
Great nearby restaurant recommendations. Very friendly staff. Safe neighborhood. Don't be intimidated ny initial impressions. A little far from Spaccanapoli but manageable.
Breakfast offered variety, but was on the mediocre side. We had to go elsewhere for decent coffee.
very nice staff, and loved the popular neighborhood still walking distance to everything. A place to keep in mind when going to Napoli
We had a suite with roof terrace and a quadruple room for kids of 13,11,11. This is a really seedy hotel with pokey rooms, knackered, cheap, nasty furniture. I have never been so bitterly disappointed in a hotel. Ever.
right in the heart of the city gritty life of Napoli awesome experience of city life grt location for restaurants and shopping
The hotel is just two blocks away from via Toledo (main shopping street), but you feel as though you are in a real Naples neighborhood. The locals are selling fish on the street, drying clothes on their balconies and flying through the very narrow streets on their motor scooters. If you want to experience the real Naples - but be a two minute walk to the main drag, il Convento's location is perfect. The staff speak English and are very helpful. We got a recommendation for dinner a few streets away; in a place tourists would never find. The major sites - such as the Archeological Museum that houses the Pompeii finds - is a quick walk up via Toledo.
This isn't a real negative...but the Spanish Quarter is a snarl of winding streets. We arrived at the ferry landing from Sorrento and decided to walk the short distance to the hotel. We should have called the hotel and I'm sure they would have given us clear directions. Instead, we tried to navigate on our own. In the end, a friendly older gentleman walked us a few blocks up via Toledo and pointed us up into the neighborhood where the hotel was. il Convento did send great directions from the airport and train station - we should have taken the initiative to ask about directions from the ferry landing - our fault. The staff was extremely helpful throughout our stay and would clearly have helped with directions. Once we arrived at the hotel, we couldn't believe how simple the trip from the ferry landing should have been. At most, it is a 10 minute walk, almost a straight line!
Helpful staff very friendly
It was a really great location. I felt quite safe as there was always people around. Easy walking distance to the shopping streets and the historical center. We had ferry to Sorrento on our last day and we just walked with our bags down to the Harbour. The room was nice, comfortable and quiet. We would definetly recommend this hotel, and stay there again.
The staff were extremely helpful, our room was beautifully clean with a great courtyard & our delicious breakfast was cheerfully delivered there - top marks all round
