I liked the style of the room and the fact that it felt that it was quite luxurious in its style. I also liked the staff and the complementary breakfast. I did not like the fact that the internet cost money. For the price that the room cost the internet should have been free.

The hotel has a good breakfast, nice staff with good english and always available for informations The site says that there's availability for extra bed but it it not true because the room is small and the hotel doesn't have extra beds. However we slept 3 on a same bed.

Hotel was really good inside the room. Nicely decorated and comfy beds plus fridge. Breakfast served in cosy setting and was pretty good. The manager who checked us in was rather rude and wanted copies of our passports. The hotel is slightly tricky to find especially at night. We wandered around for a little bit before getting directed down a shady alley and there it was. Had to pay two lots of extra tax on top of online price.

Good value to try out the venetian stayle hotel.good location-only 5mins walk from train station.that's why I luv about this hotel since I do't want to carry around the luggage and get lost in venice (which is unavoidable).Bear in mind that strick is very popular there.I Stayed two days there.lucky enough the ferry(I.e main n only transportation) there was on strike.I Saw tourists carrying around their heavy luggage and walked over the island.I Do't want to experience that.or you could pay eur60 for the water taxi.not many options there.staff are friendly and helpful.they do't over price their mini bar. They should do something about their shower door. Bscailly, the whole toilet will be covered by water after you had a shower. Other than that, everything is in a good condition of the hotel

Conveniently close to the train station. Quite expensive for what is offered, but that is the case with nearly all hotels in Venice. Breakfast is a bit poor.

Hotel staff was helpful..restaurants etc..Great location..agree with previous comment that you need to be really looking for the little walkway. Truly a 5 min walk from train station. We booked a Quad but were accomodated with 2 doubles which connected..worked wonderful for us..Price is price in Venice

Very helpful reception desk staff. Buffet Breakfast was adequate for the price charged for the room. Excellent room rate for Venice. Breakfast room is on the small side. Handing in the room key each time when leaving was a nuisance.

It was near the train station, and the reception staff are very nice. There is no lift to the second floor which was difficult if you have to carry very heavy luggage. There were also mosquitoes in the room, but I guess that may be common in the city? Also the main receptionn closes at 2300 so you have to enter through a smaller door, but the receiving staff was there very quickly, thus this is only a minor inconvenience. For breakfast, you need to ask for ham and cheese, and sometimes, there is no one to give that for you.

The hotel is well placed near the railway/bus station. At the same time, it is in a calm street. The room was well furbished, there was A/C and a fridge. I think, rooms on higher floors can be pleasant to stay in - not that much the room on the ground floor I had. I had a room on the ground floor - it was somewhat difficult to sleep there, taking into account that I could hear all the people passing by in the narrow street next to the hotel or entering the hotel. Moreover, there were no curtains (just veilings) in the windows, which made me feel uncomfortable. I shared the room (and even the bed) with small ants - they did not seem dangerous but refused to pay subrent... Finally, as many people mentioned here, the breakfast room is really small and the breakfast is of the Italian style (which is good in this case, because people tend to leave the breakfast room relatively soon and you have a chance to get there). I would not recommend the hotel to solo travellers, since all the single rooms are allegedly on the ground floor. For anyone else, the stay in the Il Mercante di Venezia could be quite pleasant, I think.

“The hotel/building is 400 years old. The location is brilliant, on the canal not far from St Marks Square. We had a room on the first floor and the window/balcony overlooked one of the canals where the gondolas were parked. Couldn't be better when in Venice. Staff very helpful.” Steve, Carrara Gold Coast |
