The location is almost by the lake and is a great base for lakeside trips. Breakfast is very good and the restaurant at night is cheap and cheerful with great food. Directions from San Giovanni Train Station are available from the hotels website (15 Minute walk) while the metro and bus station are across the road. We arrived 2pm (siesta time) on a Sunday. Anyone that didn't have paperwork printed from booking.com had some problems with the type of rooms they had booked. I would suggest you print off confirmation from this hotel as it is then easily sorted out!

Very good value for money. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Como Nord Lago train station, close to the lake as well as to the funicular. The staff was very helpful, rooms and shared bathroom very clean. The restaurant attached to the hotel is also a good place for lunch/dinner. Wi-fi connection was reasonably stable and fast as well as not expensive.

In Riva Al Lago was in an excellent location. When I emailed them the reply came back within the day. There are 2 train stations from Milan. One is Tranitalia which if you get costs 11euros and is a good walk to b+b at the other end of town...but if you go on the metro m2 to take you to TranNord you will get on the train for 4 euros and it takes you within a 2 minute walk from the Bed and Breakfast. Watch out for pick pockets in Milan as they are rampant especially in the metro underground train.. In Riva Al Lago have the most awesome breakfast and also have a restaurant for evening meals. The food is plentiful and reasonable.Rooms are comfortable and we would recommend it.Even met other kiwis there which was a bonus.Caters for all ages.Well priced and really good location to shops, ferries, bus's and trains etc.

After a week in the central Lake Como area we had to catch an early train to the airport so decided to spend our last night in Como. Riva Al Lago was extremely reasonably priced and very central for the old town area. We were in the secondary building in which they have rooms on the 2nd floor with no lift. Heating/cooling system is controled from the front office so you don't get a choice to set your required temperatur in your own room. Fortunately the hotel was not too busy and they agreed to turn off the heating whilst we were there. Generally a good rate for a reasonable accommodation.

I liked the location. It was close to a market and an great restaurant! It was very close to the city center (not more than a 5 minute walk). Check out was simple and quick. Even though the sheets were obviously clean, the bedspread was clearly old and needed updating.

Price not too bad for a twin room (though it was small) Location, next to bus station, bar, shop, takeaway. Direct bus to Bergamo. Near suburban rail, boat, restaurants, town centre, museums/art galleries and churches. Not far from mainline station - trains to Switzerland and other towns. Helpful bloke with much information about the area. "Shower block" and Rules and restrictions gave it a student res feel (which I didn't mind) eg only water allowed in room - no drinks eg lemonade allowed, threatening tone about charge to use kitchen and cleaning fee. No breakfast included in the price I paid. I didn't mind but could see the place not being to everyone's taste.

In Riva Al Lago was above and beyond what we expected for the reasonable price, and I would recommend it to my friends and family. The staff was friendly and helpful and the building itself was completely modern, well- appointed and impeccably clean. The accompanying restaurant was also a treat, tasty low-priced dinners in a relaxing environment, also served inexpensive drinks.

The staff were always quite helpful and very informative, and spoke good English. They even let us use the wifi for free for two days! There is no breakfast, a downside, but the price was great for the location and was less than 50 yards from the train station, Lago. A great little budget hotel if you're trying to save money and also have a comfortable place to sleep. Tiny television with not many channels, we tried to find a soccer game, but couldn't! Also, the bathroom light was automatic, so you had to keep the door shut after going out to keep the light out of the bedroom.

“Staff at the hotel was amazing! We had the chance to meet all 3 shifts and they were all great; Stefano gets a 10/10 BRAVO! Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was above average for a hotel and served on a terrasse with a lake view. We got real espressos at no extra charge, which is usually available but also usually an extra.” Elaine, Lachine |
