Located inside Siena's historic walls, Hotel Athena offers free parking, an elegant Italian restaurant and a furnished terrace with views of the town and the surrounding valley. Internet is free.

Hotel Italia is a charming 20-minute walk from Siena's Piazza del Campo. In summer, enjoy free access to a nearby swimming pool and tennis court.
Score from 944 reviews Excellent

Surrounded by a peaceful garden in Siena, the Hotel Garden is a 15-minute walk from Porta Camollia, the ancient city gate.

First class room bed comfort and decor
Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, excellent food
The location is excellent and the breakfast - apart from poor coffee from a machine - was good. The superior rooms are quiet and have a good view - other reviews suggest that the basic rooms do not have either but the size and fitting-out of the "superior" room hardly warranted that description.
This is essentially a hotel catering for a mixture of business people and, at the time we were there, package tours. The front desk service was minimal - it's extraordinary that a 4 star hotel in Europe will only change US dollars and won't change sterling - and they had difficulty in understanding requests for additional blankets and laundery. The room maintenance was very poor. Shampoo etc was not replenished and the beds were not properly made-up. There were no spare blankets. There was a spare duvet but it was for a double bed whereas the room was twin-bedded and it had no cover. There was no offer of assistance with luggage and generally the impression was of a lack of interest in the guests. It felt very expensive compared with our other experiences in Italian hotels.
Clean, well appointed rooms in a modern chain type hotel. Breakfast was fine although a little crowded. The location was in reasonable walking distance of all of the sites. The paid car park was nearby. Don;t waste time hoping to get into the further away free one! Opera show just across the square.
Barman seemed to object to being disturbed to serve people. Needs a personality transplant!
Unfriendly receptionist (arrivals) Check in time 15am, but my room 15.30 am not ready... Poor room (we got) Air condition not control (or full cooling - or off)... This not 4 stars...& not NH quality...!!!!!!....... Free Wifi very poor...
The hotel looks like it has been remodeled in recent years. Our rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable. Breakfast had been quite good with nice selection of pastries and juices.
Overall it seems like the hotel is not well maintained and managed. Some areas appear to be not very clean, other areas are showing signs of lacking of maintenamce. If nothing changes I believe the hotel will rapidly go downhill. It is certainly a shame for a hotel in such a good area and with so much potential.
New, clean, good breakfast
Felt bit dark and little further from town centre than I expected. Staff tried but not very knowledgable
The location was perfect and hotel- good value! Friendly Staff at reception. Breakfast included a large variety of delicious options.
Dining management not very cordial- a real turn off. Preferred to enjoy dinner meal elsewhere.
It is right in front of the bus station. You do not need to take your luggage to walk a long way. And it is easy to control the leaving time.
When you choose your wifi, it is easy to have the charged wifi. Be careful.
The hotel has spacious rooms and baths with a big shower space, comfy bed and everything was clean. Very rich breakfast with everything you wanted from fresh fruits and croissants to a continental breakfast. The location is great even if you get there by car or by train; there's a free parking just 2 minutes away from the hotel and the train station is also very close.
Our room was facing a very busy bus stop and there was a bit of noise, anyway the rooms are sound proof and is not a very big problem unless you want to keep the window open.
very nice breakfast!
The hotel was all around ok with a topical hotel buffet, nothing too fancy. We especially liked the fact that it was in walking distance from Sienna's city center.
Room was rather dusty, it was rather heavy to swallow as my husband and I both are allergic to dust.
Pretty-much everything, having arrived late from Milan it was a relief to walk into the high quality familiar surroundings of an NH hotel. Location-wise, it was opposite the bus stops for my journey on to Florence the next day, which was perfect (the bus stop area is fine to be next to, it's not a grotty area).
Lack of hot food availability in the evening downstairs at the bar.
The location was good and the breakfast was ok.
Very worn down and dirty room with areas of visible mold on the wall connecting the bathroom. Would never recommend it or stay there again.
Good price of value and good location to discover Siena, and it's close to a big free parking place. Breakfast is rich.
Please have in a correct citymap or print a coloured one from the internet for the tourists. Funny old-school TV :)
Breakfast was excellent, close to the city.
There was no hotel information. We were told breakfast is till 12h, but actually it is only till 10h weekdays. Hey, we missed our Breakfast,so be carefull with that!
Location is spot on, 10 mins walking to the main square. Facilities are wonderful, nice spacious room, very clean and breakfast even has gluten-free option!
Very closed to the tourist spot.
Toilet in the room is a bit stuffy.
Good location and facilities; friendly staff.
No concierge and reception staff had no knowledge of local and area attractions.
Hotel was right across from city bus stop. Hotel was a close walk to historic center but away enough to be quiet. Best night sleep I'd had j. Weeks. Great breakfast. .
Location is the best part of this hotel. It allows you immediate access to public transportation, rental of scooters is a block away, and the heart of old Siena is 10 minutes walk. The lobby and hallways of the hotel are nicely appointed and hotel staff was generally friendly and helpful, although read "what I didn't like" for more on that. Hint: they have a somewhat nonchalant ambivalence about their service. Cleaning service kept things tidy and clean.
This hotel seems like it has seen better days. Most everything in the room is old, outdated, worn out, not kept up. Shower cable was leaking. Notified staff, they said they would see what they could do or I can have a new room but basically said they don't have the part. Bed is really worn out, squeaks, is sunken in the middle. The TV is a 13" tube!! WiFi is absolutely horrible and staff seemingly has no power to do anything about it except give you a different username/password which seemed to do virtually nothing to improve the service for me. Sure, you get access, but connects and disconnects are frequent and even when connected it is horribly slow! Do not come here depending on the Internet in any way. I rated this as Poor for "Value for the money" because I feel it is way too expensive for the hotel not keeping the room accoutrements up to date and functional. Plus, hotel staff as nice and friendly as they are, seem to really not care that much when you actually need service for anything. I got the feeling it was "Take it or leave it, we don't care either way".
I liked the hotel and it's great location. On Wednesday mornings there is a wonderful and quite large open market right outside the hotel entrance. I would stay there again.
Location was close to city center.
No one at reception desk when returning each night after midnight.
Great location and modern rooms
The bed was comfy, however must be on a terrible base! Very squeaky and unstable
The stay at the NH Excelsior was not planned due to some challenges that we faced when arriving in Europe. We ended up taking a train and then bus from Nice, France to Siena and, upon exiting the bus saw the NH right across the street. We got lucky because they had a room available which we expected to stay in only for one night. One night turned into 8 wonderful nights. The rooms were exremely comfortable, beds and pillows were awesome. The buffet breakfast each morning was exceptional including gluten free products (my friend is gluten intolerant). The front desk staff was more than helpful and man occasions. We truly enjoyed our stay and the NH Excelsior and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
The wifi access was supposed to last for 24 hours, but many times the logins did not last for that period of time. Since we stayed for 8 nights we had to continuously retrieve new usernames and passwords from the front desk. This was a small inconvenience compared to how great everything else was.
