The hotel is not far from the center of Catania--- about 3 mins with your car. Parking for your car is available, ample and safe especially the one situated at the back. Breakfast is ok. Rooms are clean although a bit oldish style. Nice view of the small marina. Well definitely, I recommend this hotel for those who are not fussy in their style and just want to find a good place where to stay for a short stay and continue with their journey around the cities and villages of Sicily. Shower is a bit small!!! But ok.

We booked this hotel because we had a very early flight the next morning. So it served it's role. It is probably not your dream vacation hotel, but it is clean and reasonable. If you want to stay for a good price before your flight the next day the don't look further. Their wifi is 8 euros per day! I believe that this should be included in the price. We didn't have time to explore Catania, but it is doable from this location by bus or car.

I appreciated that the direction accepted without ifs and buts our decision to leave after the first night . From outside, you cannot guess that this is an Idea hotel, the name which is displayed is Ognina only. Nor does the room look like any of the modern rooms presented in the Idea brochure I found in the lobby. The room must have been waiting for renovation for years. Especially the carpet showed stains, and obviously the vacuum cleaner never found its way behind the door. Shower extemely small, traces of black mould. Disappointing, sorry to say.

Jessica at front reception was extremely helpful and had very good english. Idea Hotel is not near the city at all so Taxi and buses had to be regularly used. Walking is possible with a map provided to by the hotel but asking for help from the locals was not easy due to no English or very little English. No Signposting either. Very few restaurants near the hotel so therefore having to use a taxi or the bus into the city was needed. Hotel is also located right beside a petrol station and a busy road so this wouldn’t be recommended for light sleepers.

Parking, but you have to push a button so front desk can raise the arm gate whenever you want to enter/leave. An inconvenience. Not very accomodating staff in the person of Guiseppe who was very rude. Shower room is very tiny you will suffocate from claustrophobia. Breakfast consists of cold boiled eggs, ham, cheese, and pastries. There is parking but you have to get out of the car to push a button so front desk can raise the arm gate whenever you want to enter/leave. Lots of traffic on the front road, must be familiar with Italian driving when merging into traffic.

Relatively easy to reach by motor vehicle. Difficulties locating hotel as we were looking for the Idea Hotel which was not on the hotel sign. Very hot in our hotel, could not work out the air conditioning and in the morning found out from hotel staff that the air conditioning had been turned off. The hotel was advertised with air conditioning.

The staff are very helpful. The breakfast was very good and varied. Finding the Hotel was difficult even though its in a main road. The name 'Idea Hotel' was not on the hotel itself only 'Ognina' so even asking for instructions didn't help us. Otherwise it was ok.

Value for the money, free parking, convenient location of a gas station just in fron of the hotel. Large bathroom, large room, extralarge bed, consistent breakfast, very nice LCD in the room, SKY satellite receiver. In fgact the hotel is still branded "Ognina" - it is written on the facade. There is no mentioninf of the "Idea" hotel anywhere, except for some leaflets inside, which is rathetr confusing for someone looking for an "idea" hotel. When having asked a few locals about it they told me that the name of the hotel used to be "Jolly", and, indeed, the towels, the shampoo in the bathroom, etc are marked with "Jolly" hotel. So I strongly suggest the hotel should clarify this matter of the name and stick to just one - whatever it is going to be.

Nice room with a view to the small touristic harbour and see. Nice and helpfull staff, free privat parking, great breakfast. A bit far from the city center. I had a rented car, but otherwise I think it can be tricky to get to the city centre.

I liked the situation of the Hotel although it was a bit hard to find at first. The breakfast was good. Parking area was excellent and the staff was amazing! Most of them knew how to speak in english! It would have been amazing if the hotel had a pool. Also the breakfst time should be a bit longer.

The hotel is situated on a main road, and a petrol station directly in front of it. I couldn't sleep on the first night, as I got a hotel room directly facing the main road, which was really loud, and had to ask for a room change to the other side of the building where the noise was significantly less(I asked as soon as I entered the room, but they advised there were no free rooms that night, hence the sleepless night, also the shower wouldn't drain, as it was blocked). Also staff not very good English speakers. Also had to pay for wifi, even though there was a big inconvenience, they didn't offer me anything.

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good and abundant. The parking facility was very useful. Most of all I compliment the staff. Wonderful staff. The corridors leading to the breakfast room should be upgraded and the terrace overlooking the seaside should be opened and made full use of for the residents benefit.

The location is handy for touring Etna and going to the great shopping centers outside Catania. Having the secure parking is a big plus is an very crowded city. If you don't mind sitting beside the traffic, Quaranta restaurant is really nice to have a drink and some nibble close to the hotel. The hotel is situated in a petrol station and it is the building behind the lovely building in the photo! Our non-smoking room stank of smoke! There is not much to do in the area and only a couple of average restaurants. The bathroom had the smallest shower I've ever seen.

The hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast too. The bathroom too small the only negative thing. And close to the hotel there is a gelato shop called Balsamo staff very rude and with no patience in trying to understand you if you do not speak Italian.

The hotel was great! The view from our window was beautiful!!I read from previous reviews that the breakfast is poor but it is untrue. It was always very fresh and good quality with even nice fruits. The level of friendlyness is high. Recommended, would choose again. Nothing, except their coffee could be better.

The hotel is well situated just out of the city's noisy centre yet quite close to the centre. Very good restaurants are situated near by, with great views of the sea. Most restaurants nearby do not open till 8 pm unfortunately. So The hotel is situated quite close to the centre yet far away from the noise of the city. There are good restaurants nearby which open at 8pm having lovely sea views. What I found missing was free wifi.
