Surrounded by greenery on a hill overlooking Lake Orta, Agriturismo Il Cucchiaio di Legno offers modern accommodation with balcony or patio, a garden, and free parking.
Score from 245 reviews Wonderful
The Fontaine Bleue is a small hotel overlooking Lake Orta, and located 3 km from the centre of town. It offers a restaurant and free entry to the natural beach. All rooms offer lake views.
Score from 325 reviews Excellent
very nice staff and excellent location
bed was not confortable
Good location, just a few walking minutes from the historic town centre, but with a view of the lake. Modern building with large terrasse and good street access and parking.
Breakfast could be a bit better (both in terms of quality and variety).
Staff and general comfort of privately owned hotel. Private parking. Wonderful setting.
Poor tv system. Tv from 90's. Not the best wifi.
The amazing junior suite. The friendly and helpful staff. The views of the lake.
The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the village of Orta so very convenient for all the restaurants and right next to the lake it has beautiful breath taking.vews so be sure to book a room with a view its worth the extra 20 euros.
The hotel overlooks beautiful Lake Orta with the little lakeside town just a short walk away. Spaceous rooms, helpful staff and a good restaurant.
Our room was a triple and very spacious with a high ceiling. The view of Lake Orta was partial due to being on one side of the hotel but it was an excellent view of the lake and the small island. Breakfast was on the terrace and the view was splendid. Hotel facilities were good including the heated pool, bar and restaurant. A family run hotel with excellent staff who were very friendly.
Very nice welcoming hotel, good food and service, superb view on Orta lake and the island .

Appalling Americano coffee at first day breakfast but cappuccino second day was much better
The reception staff were very helpful and made suggestions as to where we could go. We were so glad that they directed us up to Mottarone (hope that's the correct name)- the views were unmissable, simply stunning! Thank you.
Walls a bit thin and could hear the lady in the next room walking around and then the baby crying at 7am but it wouldn't stop me returning.
Attentiveness of staff for all my friends and family who stayed here during for my wedding in Orta - they did everything they could to help with our stay. Fantastic outdoor facilities: pool, table tennis and relaxing garden area. Great location: easy to potter into the town, very close to the crazy golf/tennis courts. Free hassle free onsite parking - a real asset in Orta. Very family friendly with a family run feel, very relaxed atmosphere.
air-con is on from 3pm-1am daily, similar to most hotels in Orta though.
Perfect location within easy walking distance of the lake and Sacra Monte. Lovely food with a daily change of menu Good parking Friendly staff Very dog friendly
The whole experience was excellent. Our south room was especially nice with a very private balcony overlooking lake & island. Room 209. Breakfast on nice overlook east terrace had cappuccinos, hard boiled eggs, yogurt+fruit, croissants, 3 meats, 4 cheezes, OJ...all you can eat. Pool was very clean. Location was perfect for walking the lakeshore, the Assisi park on hilltop, down into town. We parked our car for free at hotel & never moved it for 3 days. Staff spoke good English and even got me ice! Let me print my airline ticket for free on internet. Had a great seafood dinner at Hotel Leon but glad we chose Brussola for the lodging. Rick Steves was right again!
If we would of had an east room/balcony overlooking the pool people could have looked up at us. Booking early I think scored us a great private room/balcony on the south side.
Awesome views from all 4 of the rooms we stayed in! The owners of this family run hotel were incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. We will definitely be going back.
The bathrooms were tired & need updating.
The helpfulness of staff, the amazing service, the relaxed atmosphere, old world charm and the stunning view from the terrace (and our room).
The views are amazing from the hotel. Food at breakfast was very nice. Staff were all friendly. Our visit was for our son's wedding.
Only negative not enough sunloungers.
We stayed at the hotel for one week: a large family of 12 perople including grandparents, children with spouses, and grandchildren (1/2, 2 and 5 years). The swimming pool area is secluded and safe for the small children. Excellent restaurant at the hotel. Short walking distance to the centre of Orta san Giulio. We experienced a family-run hotel with a freindly and forthcoming staff.
While the location is a bit off the main piazza and the lake, it is central enough to get to most restaurants and the lake with a short walk. The hotel does have its own pool and a great terrace with stunning views of the lake and the area. Also, the breakfast buffet is generous by Italian standards.
Overall, the design and interiors of the hotel are a bit stuffy and could do with an update. My room was quite small (I had a double room).
The position.Attractive old town, beautiful views over lake to island.Friendly staff.Nice outside terrace for meals with view over lake.Clean
Wedding reception one evening - noisy, went on until late
An excellent family run hotel with friendly helpful staff and a very high standard. Perfect location with lake/island views
Views Suite we had had a great view from the balcony and a spa bath
Breakfast basic cold buffet Room a little hot in night due to no air con
Breakfast was wonderful; views of Lake were fabulous; helpful information about local cultural sights.
the position of the hotel with stunning views of the lake and island, plenty of parking, within walking distance of the 'village' -definitely not too be missed!
The one thing that would put us off going to this hotel was the restaurant waiters, the young lady was ok but the two male waiters, the younger one in particular, left a lot to be desired re their people skills. There didn't seem to be any atmosphere in the restaurant in the evenings, not very busy either, partly possibly due to the above.
good location great views friendly staff
Lovely position, beautiful view of lake.
Reception area could be improved.
