We really enjoyed our stay at La Chiusa and I would highly recommend it to others. The location is perfect for exploring other hill top towns and the staff was always warm and welcoming. We had a double room, number 115, which it was quite large and had a view looking across their back lawn towards Montepulciano. The main highlight (for me) was there beautiful bathroom with it's claw foot bathtub! My fiancé also loved the shower which has great water pressure. Also, the breakfast each morning was amazing. They have a table waiting for you and they serve you any style of coffee and eggs, plus fresh bread, meat, fruit, cake and they're delicious young pecorino cheese. There was so much food that we often took some of the left overs with us for afternoon snack. While we didn't eat dinner, we did ask for a small salad with cheese and bread, plus two glasses of Prosecco upon check in, which was lovely, although be warned, it's expensive. Considering the spread at breakfast, we felt it was worth it.
The bed is similar to other beds we had in Italy, in that it's a queen, but shorter, so not great for taller guests. More importantly, it's a spring mattress and it was very uncomfortable. Also, be aware that the price for lunch or dinner in the restaurant is very expensive for the area.
Staff, breakfast , grounds were excellent.
The restaurant, for an evening meal, was overpriced and over rated. We ate at the 3 restaurants in town and they were all superior to La Chiusa. Lighting in our room was poor and reading was therefore difficult. The bath/shower was hard to get into and out of and a non slip bath mat should be supplied.
This was a wonderful stay in a charming Hotel in Tuscany. The Hotel is well situated within walking distance of the Town of Montifollonica and is set in a country style garden with a profusion of flowers, trees and plants, surrounded by breathtaking views. Every staff member was helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the food was outstanding. A wonderful wonderful stay.
excellent restaurant and personal attention.
A little difficult to find
Umberto (owner) was so kind and welcoming. The restaurant was fantastic and the view was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone.
They took a little off the bill The waiter was very friendly and helpful
It was a Sunday out of season we were the only guests in the hotel and resturant. The reason for going was the reputation of the chef. The kitchen only had to cook for 2 and the food was very disappointing heavy, stodgy over salted. I think the chef was not on that day. It did spoil my stay. We had and did stay in some great places with better food. The whole thing was over priced, hotel and food. Don't mind paying if it is good.
Amazing food and wine in a perfect setting in Tuscany
