Hotel owner and staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of homemade food. It was one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. Despite being a 3 star with quite basic furniture it was absolutely spotless and a pleasure to stay there. Great location in beautiful surroundings. Excellent view from our room.

Nothing we would stay here again and were sorry to leave.

The owner, Giuseppe, was warm, friendly, helpful and exceptionally accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding! It was a warm, friendly experience. We had three couples experience his graciousness. We highly recommend staying there.

Giuseppe was a wonderful host and was very helpful with everything. His staff at the reception was very kind as he was. The Hotel has a lot of charm and the views of Lago Maggiore were incredible from the room. It felt like being in a room of a very nice house or villa. The breakfast was very good the next morning too. A very nice place to stay while in Stresa. Very close to the centre of town and a walk from the main dock where the ferrys take you to the other islands.

The rooms could be a bit noisy. I was lucky since it was the off-season. It was like being in a room of a very nice house or villa.

We stayed at Hotel La Fontana for three days and loved it. We had a spectacular view over the lake and islands. Giusseppe the owner was friendly, helpful and made our stay wonderful. Breakfast was good, the location is easy to find and close to the town of Stresa and transportation around the lake. Very comfy and homey hotel.

House had character and wifi good

Floor creaked, bed terrible, toilet door jammed, shower cubicle minute and electrics very easy to fuse.

Breakfast was ok. Internet was good. Had an elevator. Beds were ok.

Shower facilities were poor. Floors were very slippery.

We loved this place - it was just like staying with friends. The family who run the hotel (and their animals - including the largest cockeral we've ever seen !) are so welcoming & the place is full of character. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip. We would happily go back to Stresa & La Fontana again.

It was absolutely awesome! The room, the hotel, garden and breakfast everything was perfect. Especially would like to mention hospitality and helpfulness of the owner (didn't check the name, sorry). We felt very warm and welcome. Definitely will go again.

Nicely and centrally situated. Good car parking. Very friendly personnel. Breakfast heavenly good, well balanced in very nice athmosphere. Very high charm factor. Could not be nicer, Very good value for the money.

The welcome was as good as it gets. The bedroom was spacious and the large balcony had a good view of the lake. The hotel was a ten minute walk from Stresa and parking was free. Breakfast was good and included in the room price.

Our bathroom was very small and not commensurate with the bedroom size. We felt that the hotel neede a facelift.

Excellent and friendly Owners!

Price and location were excellent, Proprietor couldn't do enough for you nothing was too much trouble. The location was excellent with only a few minutes to the main promenade and around 8 minutes to all the main amenities. I had a large room with balcony and lake view. The atmosphere was relaxed and homely. Plenty of garden space to sit out if the weather was fine, unfortunately, the weather wasn't too great when I was there. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of fresh fruit, cereal eggs, ham and cheese and cakes etc. Coffe was fantastic!

Not sure if there was a residents' lounge and if there was it wasn't pointed out. Also in the room the two chairs were "dining" chairs. There was enough space in the room for a slightly more comfortable chair/s

Not so much a dislike, the hotel is a little dated, Rooms and especially undersizes bathrooms could do with some upgrading but needs to remain in context with the style of the hotel.

Great service, friendly staff and great position

The room that we were given at the Hotel had a huge balcony with views over Lake Maggiore and the islands, it was superb. In addition, the owner and his family were great hosts, always keen to ensure that everything was going well and giving very good advice about local restaurants and places to visit. Breakfast was also very good with a wide selection of very good quality food, along with delicious home baked cakes every day. We also loved the Art Deco decoration in the hotel. The garden was also lovely, along with the six dogs and the cockerill. We would happily return.

The room and bathroom were small (typically European size) but the view from the huge balcony made up for everything.

The hotel had lots of character, the grounds were beautiful and the view from our balcony (lakeside) was brilliant. The owner was very attentive and we would not hesitate to return on our next visit to Stresa.
