Great location - close to both st Clare's and st Francis! Yummy breakfast on the terrace and refreshing tea time at 3:00. It was perfect!
Hotel La Fortezza is situated in the piazza so great access to everything! The hotel was lovely and clean and Jenny was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Parking is not on site so a good idea would be to call Jenny before you arrive in Assisi and she can direct you to where you need to go. Lots of stairs so keep that in mind with luggage. Over all a very pleasant stay!
Excellent location, friendly staff and what a wonderful place to have your breakfast
The people working in this hotel were so helpful and friendly. Excellent location and lovely breakfast and afternoon tea on the roof terrace. Such a peaceful location.
Number of stairs up to hotel but this was no issue. Provided a nice peaceful location for the hotel, close to sites and amenities but also quiet location
The staff was very kind. Tea time service was good.
The hotel is a little old, but not incomfortable.
The obliging staff, the central location, the economical price, the amazing view of Assisi from the breakfast balcony and from my room, the space, the decor, the bed, the comfort, the breakfast cakes, everything!
Nothing! It was perfect. For $40 a night you really cant go wrong. Its a lovely real hotel with all the comfort that brings. Its not 5 star, of course, but its absolutely wonderful, a gorgeous location and run by the nicest people ever!!!!
Amazing location and staff!
Staff, Jenny from Peru, was genuinely friendly and always helpful. Loved the rooftop terrace overlooking the city and valley. A great place to have breakfast or relax with a glass of wine after a busy day.
Not many guests, felt like I was alone in the place some of the time. Lots of steps to hotel, but that is the nature of Assisi.
clean room and good location. Breakfast is good and of a great variety.
Great breakfast. Very central location: you can walk everywhere. Very helpful staff. Good WiFi.
A little hard to find!
difficult to get to
I stayed here 3 nights and found the hotel to be outstanding value, and all round to be the best accommodation I stayed in during a recent trip travelling across Italy. The room was clean and comfortable with a small private terrace area outside. I stayed during a spell of hot sunny weather but the old stone building combined with a very effective ceiling fan maintained comfort despite the lack of air conditioning. The location is good, being just off the main square in Assisi, and the lady who managed the hotel could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was good and this was provided on the roof terrace with fabulous views across Assisi and the Umbrian countryside. At £35 a night for a double en-suite room I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
I had no complaints at all about the hotel.
I felt at home. Terrific staff. Breakfast on the terrace.
I would have given this top rating for location, except that it's in the middle of a very long staircase.
Staff and Location perfect;
Bathroomequipment needs renewal! (Like shower and watertap; Ilumination a little poor)
I loved being right in the heart of Assisi and being able to open my windows to hear the beautiful bells ring. We were close to downtown and could easily walk to see the Easter celebrations in the square. Our hostess is a wonderful gal and attended to all our needs. Breakfasts were very nice indeed! The B & B is off the main square and is a little hard to find, but, you can ask any of the locals and they'll gladly point the way.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone with mobility problems. There are many stairs to get to the property. Take light baggage if you plan to stay there. That said, we thought it was completely worth the effort to go up and down the steps and stay in such a special spot.
Exemplary reception and care, breakfast, quiet room, nice bathroom (with shower screen!), solution for 'thin electrical sockets', etc. I really hope to come back here!
Unfortunately, you can hear a lot of the (top) neighbors... (But you don't visit Assisi to stay in your room, do you?)
Wonderful hotel and staff. Everything was perfect, room, location, service, including the complimentary afternoon snack(tea and cakes). Thank you, Jenny!
Everything was perfect.
We liked the upstairs balcony on the rooftop and the friendliness of the staff. She was very nice and helpful.
The internet was sketchy; kept going in and out. Our room was very cold and we didn't have a way to turn the heat on. The staff wasn't always at the front desk.
the position. Right in the heart of Assisi
the bed was a little too hard and the shower was missing a curtain
A small, quiet, hotel very centrally located near the main Piazza. An outdoor terrace by the breakfast room. Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Afternoon tea & cakes? What more could you want? :>
The hotel was really nice, located in the very heart of Assisi and still offering a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The heating was on all the time which was perfect. The breakfast was rich- the typical Mediterranean plus fruit, yogurt, fresh made cakes. It is definitely worth it!
The mattress was not that comfortable but for a brief stay is ok.
What I liked most is the homely atmosphere of this hotel. The stuff is friendly and always ready to help. It is the best place to stay not only for a single traveller like me, but also for a family or a group of friends.
People at the reception and the room, which was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The whole hotel is very charming. However, we did not stay at La Fortezza, as they had to move our reservation to Hotel Palotta. so these comments refer to Palotta.
We loved the breakfast room and balcony with a view. The complimentary afternoon tea was great, loved the tart. Rooms were clean. Triple room a good size, double room small but plenty of space to put bags and cases out of the way. They let us check in early when we arrived with a sick child.
Shower in double room was not good. The other room's shower was fine.
