This was our second stay at La Palma, and our impression was not as positive as our first visit. The location is very nice, the amenities are fine but the hotel staff seemed overwhelmed by an Easter crowd.

All rooms are carpeted, and our carpet was quite dirty. Parking is available on site, but it is not controlled and anyone can park in the hotel lot, restricting access to guests.

The staff were very welcoming and accommodating . The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Check in and out were flexible with no cost implications as a result of the quiter time of year. Loved it all!

Very cosy, nearly plush and beautiful lobby, actually you even do not want to leave it and go to your room, that are really small. And wonderful and outstanding Sky Bar on the top floor should be also noted

I've noticed only one "minus" - lack of any vegetables for breakfast

From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the friendly staff. the room was excellent and the roof bar was breathtaking

This is a grand, old hotel on the lakeside in Stresa. The hotel is maintained beautifully, the rooms are tasteful and of adequate size. The hotel is a "real" 4-star, staff are attentive and we would stay there again with pleasure.

Parking is as advertised on site, but it is limited. Dogs are not permitted in the breakfast room.

Very nice view from roof top bar/spa area of the Lake. Lounge/bar area off lobby was great for after dinner drinks/conversation.

During our stay there were three tour groups and one business meeting group who all showed up in dining room shortly after evening service opened at 7 Pm. They again arrived each morning after service opened making for lots of background talking at elevated voice levels so it was not an enjoyable dining experience. We went other locations for the rest of the evening meals but no other choice for breakfasts.

Staff was welcoming and helpful. The rooftop terrace had a view and service that were unsurpassed. Rooms were comfortable and roomy. Breakfast included everything one could possibly want. A very good hotel.

We had a wonderful room on the 4th floor with a direct view of the lake. The noise from the street below could be heard but really a small detail in what was a delightful experience.

We really appreciated the location, the staff, our room was great with a large terrace and large bath. We loved the rooftop Sky Bar. We found this hotel to be understated luxury. Would stay here again.

The food was not consistant. Some things were much better than others. But the wait service was good.

My wife and I stayed at LaPalma for five days in mid September 2012 and were thoroughly impressed with everything about this hotel. Rooms are well appointed, staff is extremely helpful and professional, and the location is unbeatable, right on the shore of Lage Maggiore overlooking the lake and the Borromeon Islands. With a walk of a three blocks, we were in the center of Stresa's restaurant and shopping area. Can't say enough nice things about this hotel. My wife and I travel quite a bit and we both agreed that this was one of, if not the best hotel we've had the good fortune to stay in.

Very comfortable and the view from the room was fabulous. The location - opposite a small water taxi stop and a short walk along the lakeshore to the town is isael. The rooftop terrace is stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good. This hotel is not cheap but for what you get it is certainly not expensive.

Reasonably close to Boats and on the waterfront.

Staff were dumb and ignorant! Breakfast was poor limited hot food which was not hot or refilled timely.AC not very good.Room not ready on time. Insufficient staff to cope with a full house.Internet slow. AC so bad they had to change my room 3 times and i slept in a differnt room from where my luggage was. Lights do not stay on in halls at night I was walking in the dark could not see keyhole.Food service at night is poor and expensive.I was in need of water to take medication and they wanted to charge me.You can not buy cigarettes on site.

We liked the roof bar that has plasent view and a professional staff. The room was big and comfortable. Very good breakfast.

We reserved a triple room. From the pictures of the hotel I understood that in the room we will find a bed for 3rd person, however it was an armchair - bed. This armchair was not very comfortable to our teenage daughter. Besides - it was strangely located - just in front of the door to the balcony, though the room was big enough to locate it deferently. The location by the balcony door also made our daugher to feel cold during the night even that she used additional blanket.

The quiet location of the hotel in Stresa - beautiful front view overlooking Lake Maggiore. Good comfortable balcony. Sitting having our breakfast looking out onto the beautifully kept front gardens; the flowers and lawns were immaculate. Best of all was the peace and quiet of the roof top Sky bar area during the day where we could relax, read, have lunch, and look at the changing sky as the day progressed. Then at night the Sky bar changed into a delightful place to have an aperitif and chat with friends. All the staff were very helpful for each of our requests. I would particularly like to mention a young lady receptionist, Angelica, who when asked where we might buy a newspaper, offered to arrange for someone to go to the Railway Staton to buy us a Saturday Daily Telegraph. We appreciated this example of going the extra mile to make our stay special. We loved the convenience of the ferry terminal and the town centre.We have no hesitation in recommending La Palma, we had a delightful stay, and will be returning.

Our written request for a double bed was met with two singles on arrival in the bedroom, we then requested having that changed to a double bed. That request was met with two singles being pushed together. This arrangement left a very uncomfortable ridge right down the middle of the bed. Requests to improve this were unsuccessful. The shower screen did not fit properly and the wc pedestal was too close to the bath for comfort, apart from these two problems, the bedroom accommodation was perfect.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent coffee. Wonderful roof top bar. Spectacular views from every room. Close to everything. Breakfast menu was special.

Roof top noise from weekend wedding parties and the noisy clean up afterwards heard in our room on the 6th floor.

Great Hotel wonderful stay

Good location alongside beautiful Lake Maggiore with first class service and comfortable and spacious room.

Would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a safe that actually worked or a maintenance man who could fix it.
