Hotel Excelsior Splendide is an Art Nouveau building of 1907. It is set on Bellagio's lakeside promenade, right in front of Lake Como and a short walk from the ferry harbor.

Nothing Very happy to leave this hotel
Location was a disaster as very far away from everything Onsite restaurant is closed and nothing nearby Euro10 fare to come home from town - cannot walk back as there is no lighting on the cobbled lane ways and stairs Staff are rude and do not appear to want paying guests
Location on water with lovely views Short walk to Bellagio itself(but up and down hills so not good if wheeling suitcase or not fit) Adequate breakfast
Restaurant on site was adequate but not the best meal I had in Italy. Beds were rather firm but is thruout Italy!
Fantastic location, loved it
Beautiful lake front location.
Staff were unfriendly
Lovely situation and fascinating ancient building. Parking beside the hotel which is a bonus in Bellagio. We had dinner on 2 occasions and that was OK., but the menu was limited
Reception very dour and unfriendly. No attempt to help us upstairs with our bags and indeed to unlock the bedroom door which was very difficult as the lighting was dim. Apart from the evening waiters we felt that we were just a nuisance, despite the fact that we speak Italian. Breakfast was monotonous over 3 days and we missed the option of some prosciutto and cheese. Coffee awful!
The staff, including the owners were not very welcoming or friendly
The location is great after the walk which is good for burning of the fabulous food
The bed is very hard it seems to be a common theme of Italian beds. The wifi didn't work very well up stairs.
The Amazing view makes this spot worth it. A little walk from town but peaceful and tranquil.
View, quiet, quaint, lovely spot away from the busy port of Bellagio, but just a short walk to the town. Would definitely stay here again!
The secluded location The restaurant, food and service The young hotel receptionist/manager
Indifferent service from the more senior receptionists/managers Closing the restaurant with little notice ( a day for us, less for others)
the view, the quiet, the building. The staff did everything they could to help us
difficulty of finding a taxi to and from the ferry. If you have heavy luggage it is a struggle to get there. The Hotel does not offer a shuttle service. The hotel is at 20mins from ferry but to get there is all up and down stairs.
This quaint hotel is located right on the lake and some of the rooms have excellent lake views. The hotel was once a monestery and is very old, but has been nicely updated. It was clean and comfortable and the outdoor pergola restaurant is lovely and has good food.
The location is not for the faint-of-heart. It is located over the hill from the main part of Bellagio, and while it is a good footpath, there are about 100 stairs each direction. Great exercise, and after a few days we enjoyed the walk. However, the hotel doesn't offer transportation from the ferry, so getting to and from the hotel with your luggage can be a problem - especially because there are few taxi's and they don't like to provide service for such a short trip.
I loved the location, the short walk into town via lanes and many steps, eating at the in house restaurant. Breakfast was lovely. The room spacious and clean. The nonna is a very lovely hostess, and the neice very helpful and friendly. Both have a very sound understanding of English. The renovation has been done sympathetically and to high standard. Public parking in square outside premises limited but we had no problems.
Host was always preoccupied. Always seemed as if he had a problem. Did not feel like approaching him to ask questions
Sensational view of the lake, right on water. Quiet and peaceful
The staff were very offhandedly. Not sure if communication, but any simple request was treated like an onerous chore. We had no hot water for our three night stay and they didn't seem to care?
Good hotel in great location
- The location of the hotel on the waterfront provides beautiful views - The location is on the east side of Bellagio where things are quite and relaxing - The outdoor dining under a canopy of vines with waterfront views is romantic
The noise made by the toilet with the tank near the ceiling was a little startling.
Location & Character Great view
the view, the food, the ambiance, the owner
Location, quiet at night, views and dining areas are wonderful and the food is pretty good
Staff seemed a bit miserable. A smile would have been good
Calm, quiete place with a greate view at lake if you have such a room. Restaurant terrace right at lake adge and you can see fishes and birds right by you. Relaxing athmosphere and 18th century style furniture. Recently refurbished clean rooms.
Stip way to village, not so exhausting thuogh, like 15 min. No elavator in bulding, if you have heavy suitcase and room at 3rd floor. Too much hard sleeping pillows as for me.
Location , breakfast, rooms.
Staff not very friendly, front of hotel noisy early in morning & building work close by.
The food was very good and the setting was just lovely. Except for the one rood staff member everyone else was very nice and helpful.
There seemed to be a bit of confusion on the part of one staff member who would not let us pay for a bottle of wine with either a credit card or charge to our room and was extremely rood about it.
The view was fantastic. The little golf in the lake, the stairs to Βellagio, the ducks cheering in the rain. The interior of the building was interesting as it used to be a monastery.
There were many misunderstandings during our stay, but the manager tried to deal with them and please us. I just agree that the stuff is arrogant and too busy with the restaurant and the parking space around the hotel isn't enough especially on a weekend.
Stunning views as the hotel is right on the lake, with balconies facing out over the water. Nice large clean rooms. The restaurant is on the right on the waters edge and the food was excellent.
Lack of parking as the area is very popular with day trippers fighting for spaces, and a small issue with the shower in one of our rooms but great over all.
The view from the bedroom window.
Staff were indifferent at best, rude at worst. Food was very basic and not to expected Italian standards. Walk into Bellagio not suitable for those with impaired mobility.
