Hotel Ristorante La Pergola  

Quiet comfortable surroundings. Staff friendly and helpful. Spectacular views of the lake and mountains, and breakfast was a feast for the eyes with ducks and swans on the lakeside.

The hotel was a short distance from the main centre of bellagio,so an area with lounges and sun chairs on the pergola would have enhanced the time spent in the hotel.

The first impression was that it reeked of smoke! The owner's son was at the check-in and was not at all welcoming or friendly. He showed us our room which appeared to be okay at first glance with a view of the lake. It was not until we returned to our room from dinner that we realized it too smelled of smoke. We had the most uncomfortable hard pillows that we took them out of the cases and stuffed bath towels in which was not much better. The bathroom was so small we hit our heads on the shelf when brushing our teeth. The shower was so small (cruiseship size) that I hit my arms on the glass while washing my hair. I ordered a third cup of coffee at the breakfast buffet and when we paid our bill at checkout found that we had been charged for it. The chambermaid was in our room when we returned from breakfast. The "artwork" on the wall looked like something they had found in the trash. A ratty old frame of an old "hunting" print which was torn and spotted! Lots of steps to climb to get to the center of Bellagio. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

the location right beside the lake was very good but the 10 minute walk was 25 minutes and you had to clime about 230 steps not good at all

It was lovely to stay on the quieter side of bellaggio We awke to the sound of ducks in the morning and the most beautiful vista. It was a short walk over the pebbled path to the main Resterant and ferry area Great value and a lovely family run hotel

The Owners were professional and helpful. The standard of cuisine and the wines were excellent and our accommodation was fantastic with a lovely view of the Lake at Pescallo from our room. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a great stay. Despite the negative reviews by guests who have stayed at La Pergola Hotel, we found everything was to our satisfaction which made our holiday really enjoyable. A beautiful, ideal setting.

When we arrived the first impression was that the management were not particularly bothered about welcoming us and appeared to be unfriendly.However there is a need to understand the people of this area in Bellagio as their temperament can appear to be serious when you first meet them which we believe is perhaps in their nature and they tend to be cautious. When you get to know them, there is a mutual respect and they can't do enough for you. There was no literature in the room to tell us what was going on in terms of nearby trips and anything of historical interest and recommended places to visit but compared with our stay overall a small observation.

Lovely location on the water with great outdoor dining under pergola. Big living space and nice balcony. Great bathroom shower - best I've ever come across in the uk or Europe.

Reception/management were somewhat cool and off-handed in their approach/communication which did not create a good initial impression. The younger staff on the other hand were far better in their approach.

Very nice waterfront location. Quiet and authentic Bellagio Lake Como. The hotel interior had a unique comfortable feeling. We had a nice balcony with grapevines all around.

Getting to the location by car might be challenging for drivers and passengers not use to tight Italian roads. Parking is also difficult but neither issue shoul keep you away. maybe coming and going by ferry would be best....

Friendly family operated hotel located right on the edge of Lake Como with good restaurant with a view. Quiet and peaceful.

The lighting in the room could have been better. For mature folks, the walk into town while only 15 minutes is strenuous with some 200 steps going into the city.

we booked a premier room which had a balcony overlooking the lake which was perfect. the location of the hotel is good as long as you are quite able bodied the walk is quite steep over to bellagio itself. the restaurant was very good and again perfect sitting outside overlooking the lake.

the staff seem unsuited to the hospitality industry in fact on occassion i found them rude.

as per many other reviews the family that owns and manages the hotel are unwelcoming and very unfriendly. You are really made to feel as though you are an inconvenience The property has so much potential but the attitude of the owners really creates a n atmosphere of discomfort As a frequent traveller I must say that this is the worst experience that I have had in a hotel The owners are rude and unwelcoming. The owners lock the building at 11 pm and do not reopen the front door untill 7 30 am making it very difficult to go for an early morning walk The owner refused to allow the air conditioning to be used dealings the 32 degree heat advising us that the hotel eas only 2 star Breakfast was poor with watered down juice and a very limited offering of food I would not recommend this property at all In fact it was the only hotel during our 2 week tour of Italy that we. looked forward to leaving

Almost everything other than the position!! Although the building is charming and quait, no one has invested any money in this hotel/restuarant for decades. Accordingly the aircon is completely inadequate. Parking is also very limited near the hotel, and the hotel staff make no effort to assist or help Breakfast (although very romantic on the lake side terrace) was very poor. No real juice; limited pastries; etc The WORST aspect of this 'hotel' is the owners. It is family run, and we have never come across such utterly rude people. It goes way beyond disinterest; they are positively dismissive of even polite enquiries. This is Faulty Towers in an Italian setting! So rude were the owners that we never ate in the Hotel, even though it has a pretty terrace overlooking the small jetty, as we did not want to experience any more contact with them than was necessary. Bellagio is wonderful; the position and style of the hotel was beautiful, but a hotel is more than just a building; its about hospitality. Don't stay here!!

Excellent.We had a superior room with lake view and it was wonderful.We had read many things about this hotel mainly negative but we can only praise it.We had a wonderful stay here.The main critics of this hotel from other guests are that the owners,staff etc are unfriendly and unhelpul.We found them to be the opposite of this but it is my opinion that they do not want to pass the time of day with you which for us is absolutely no problem.Everything we asked of them was very efficiently and professionally done.We will definately stay here agin.

The location is spectacular, and the facilities are more than adequate. Just a short walk over the hill is Bellagio where the ferries come and go, and there is excellent shopping.

It would be good if the staff and family were a bit more smiley. Breakfasts are fine, but the general standard of the cuisine could do with some work.

A lovely hotel on the other side of the Bellagio peninsular from the main village. It's a beautiful location and I paid extra to have a view of the lake which was well worth it. The room was fairly small and basically equipped with a small terrace over the eponymous pergola. The bathroom was small but acceptable and the bed was comfortable - cleanliness of the room was fine. Breakfast was fairly basic but fine and enjoyed on their beautiful terrace by the lake. The water is crystal clear and you can see large fish swimming around while ou drink your coffee. The staff were friendly and spoke reasonable English and I was able to park my car within 20m of the hotel.

You have the choice of a fairly long walk or a very steep set of steps to get to the centre of Bellagio - this might not suit everyone however the peace and beauty of the Pergola location was well worth it for me.

Great view. Location. I enjoyed being on the water and in a small way being away from the hub of Bellagio.

I would prefer lighter meals such a more choices in salads, etc.

The location is excelent! We woke up with an amazing view from the window, the Como lake. It´s an old style hotel, very charming!

This is the best!

Great lakefront hotel and restaurant. Pay extra for the lake view rooms, very special. Price for lakefront was great. The salmon pasta was the best we had in 2 weeks in Italy. Great evening walks in the country. Room was clean and comfortable.

We would say the hotel is not within normal walking distance of Belagio because of the hills separating. Easy car access.

nous avons voulu diner 2 fois pour profiter du coucher de soleil sur le lac mais la cuisine n'est pas à la hauteur du reste , et beaucoup trop chère pour ce que c'est
