The location was superb. The room was sparkling clean. The breakfast was A+ and the theme of La Piana was evident everywhere from bed sheets down to the last t. Congratulations to the owners for the great job they have done.

Everything is outstanding at this hotel, simply a wonderful experience and location. Owners even came to train station to collect us as our hire car didn't come through, and they drove us back to the train when our stay came to an end, Wonderful service, congratulations. We would love to return

Small stylish hotel in fantastic location. Great hospitality of Luchano and Irina have made our stay bright and unforgettable. It is an ancient house that is neatly renovated and converted into wonderful small hotel. Very stylish, with thorough attention to details. Some apartments have an outdoor patio with fantastic view of the valley beyond large olive garden. Excellent breakfast, splendid surroundings, decently large pool, even a small football field, and convenient location to explore surroundings (30 mins drive to Lucca, just a little more to Florence or Pisa). Very nice restaurant St. Elena just 500 m up by the road to a small castello nearby. Overall, highly recommended.

Just a recommendation to travellers with kids - 48 sq. m apartments are perfect for 2+1 kid family, though may look a little tight for families with two kids.

Luciano, the owner, is very friendly. We made a tour by bike through the hills, which was very beautifull. Very good breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, all kinds of bread and offcourse cappuccino. Good location and good room.

Comfort, spectacular view, outdoor hot tub, and good breakfast.

Not having breakfast included was ok,but, to buy breakfast was a little pricy, and started too late for our plans on this trip. The breakfast was good. Also, only one near restaurant that was open every day. Another restaurant near by, we never found open.

The location was beautiful, in the middle of the olive trees, very peaceful and authentic. Big room, well decorated and clean. The pool and jacuzzi were great with a splendid view on the valley.

The owner wasn't especially nice, could have been nicer. The breakfast wasn't included which we thought it was. We were surprised when we had to pay 60€ for the breakfast even if it was very good.

We stayed at the La Piana during Easter week and loved it! Located on a hillside 5 minutes from Montecatini the setting is great. On the hill there is no traffic, only birds chirping and beautiful views. The B&B had nice facilities, and looks like it would be a great fun to stay there when the weather warms up and guests can take advantage of the pool and other outdoor facilities. Luciano and his staff were attentive and great. The room was well equipped, and breakfast was excellent. For dinner, there is an excellent restaurant within walking distance. Note this is a B&B, and it is advisable to call ahead of arrival so that you can be sure someone will be there to let you in. Once checked in, you will be given a swipe card for entry to the grounds and building.

I liked the area, we walked for a view hours and just dropped in at one of thr surrounding restaurants. I am sure in summer it is nice to spend time in and around the pool.

Without GPS difficult to find, maybe somewhere already have a signe towards the B&B.

This is a wonderful accommodation. The views are stunning, and the rooms are really really excellent. There are many small details which leave a lasting memory: bedding and towels beautifully monogrammed with the villa's logo, dressing gowns carefully placed in antique wardrobes, fruit and linen napkins left for a snack, personally wrapped slippers, and....the most exquisite breakfast imaginable. Local preserved meats, excellent cheeses, yoghurts on ice, fresh bread, fine sweet pastries...undoubtedly the best breakfast whilst on holiday. The proprietors take great pride in their successful renovation, and demonstrate a clear desire to serve their clients. I would HIGHLY recommend this accommodation...it is worth the detour!

Well, they do say that nothing works in Italy. On this occasion the access cards to get through the gate did not work and we struggled and then waited for 20 minutes for the proprietor to return. Not so terrible...but thank goodness it wasn't raining. We were tired and starving though! Apologies were forthcoming.

What a little gem of a place! If you want to get away from it all, here is the place to be. The owner is fantastic and kind - as helpful as can be. The B&B even had maps of the area we could borrow when doing a day-trip to Pisa and Lucca. It was our 10-year anniversary and they upgraded us to the suite which was a very nice gesture - and the only time it happened on our 18-day trip to Greece and Italy. Despite the "old world charm", everything was clean and there were a lot of nice touches to the room (robes, post cards, book markers, slippers!) We ate at a couple places in Buggiano (the only Americans in the whole restaurant) where we had stopped to ask directions trying to locate the hotel and both places had great food with nice people who were willing to get in the car and help us find the B&B! The view from the hotel is wonderful and we felt safe with the remoteness of the facility and the card-access gate at the front driveway. We would stay here again in a heartbeat - it's not touristy, it's quiet, and they have virtually everything you could want including breakfast. We chose not to eat there, however, as it's 15E/pp which is a little steep for us although the food looked/smelled fresh and there was a nice variety.

If we had to do it over again, we would get navigation/GPS for our car. I had printed directions before leaving home but with it being dark upon arrival into Montecatini (neighboring large town) we couldn't see any street signs, we didn't have a local map (only one of Italy), most locals don't speak much English and then we would lose the signs for Buggiano in nearly every round-about. After asking for directions at 7 different places, calling La Piana x2, we finally found it after 4 hours. Do yourself a favor and get gps and do try to find it at night. The only problem we had with our rooms were that we could only get the AC to come on and no heat. So it was either leave windows open a crack with it pouring rain outside, or suffer the AC in the room. A bit chilly and there wasn't anyone to ask as the manager leaves in the evenings. Oh, well - we layered up and snuggled to keep warm.

Beautifully designed house and rooms, very comfortable place to stay and relax. The kids loved the beautiful pool and we all enjoyed the great Toscan landscape. The garden is huge and nice to walk around in, or just relax and read a book. Wish we could have stayed longer....

    Nice location Friendly staff

Price for breakfast is quite high (30 euro per room), it's not included in the room price and they don't inform you about the fact that it's not included. For a 5 day stay, it's 150 euro for 2 people for breakfast. Since the location is quite remote, there's no alternative. Tuscan evening and pizza evening are quite expensive too.

Great place to stay and relax. Many interesting places nearby, for example 45min by car to Pisa or one hour by train to Florence.
