La Rocca Orvieto  

O restaurante é excelente, o quarto é grande e confortável, porém a televisão é pequena, banheiro bom, café da manhã bom.

Stunning setting with magnificent views. Beautiful gardens and very spacious grounds with vine groves, olive cherry and fig trees. lovely pool area and an outside restaurant where we had our substantial buffet break breakfast. Optional dinner in the restaurant , although a little pricey was of a very high standard.

We stayed in apartments a short and beautiful walk away from the hotel but while we were there a swimming pool was being built which was annoying if you wanted to stay on your balcony to read or relax. However you could easily move to the hotel grounds where there was no noise.

Wonderful location, great views, excellent restaurant on the property and truly world class wines produced.

A tour group was also at this property, which received ALL of the staff's attention. Individual guests seemed to be ignored and definitely were not treated equal to the tour groups....and we undoubtedly paid much more per person.

The personnel went out of their way to cater to our needs. Excellent restaurant and a fantastic view of the surrounding hills.

A little remote out of Orvieto but you certainly get the views back in return.

The location is beautiful, and the room was well equipped and clean, we also had a nice balcony with a great view. We really recommend the restaurant, it has good food and good service.

The dinner/food was very good.

The 'special package' advertised on Trip Advisor was not honored by the management, with a poor excuse for not doing so. They charge 5 euro to use the indoor hot tub (20 mins) and 10 euro to use the outdoor hottub (20 min) with a requirement to get a token from the front desk--tacky, and expensive. The wine tasting was available 'only for groups' so we couldn't do that...not as advertised. There was no tour.

The location is superb and as usual in Italy the people are friendly. The accommodation was of a high standard and the maid did a good job every day. The desk staff spoke good English so no communication problems. Food was good and everything was very clean.

Given the fact that it is up in the hills away from the town it could do with a bar on site for the guests, with some music, and as they would have a pretty much captive audience (assuming that, like me, other guests do not want to drink and drive) it should make money for them. That apart, the only real annoyance was the fact that the Internet connection kept failing probably due to the router continually needing to be reset which in turn may be due to overheating as it was very hot. I keep a fan blowing on mine in my office in the uk in the summer for the same reason. I really need good wifi for my laptop however, so I can communicate with my business while I am away, and so I only book locations with good wifi. An iphone is not enough for what I do - I need a laptop and wifi. Plus the kids like it for watching cartoons in English on Youtube etc. The poor connection caused me a lot of problems and wasted a lot of my time but the staff didn't seem to think it was a major issue. When it went down and we asked them to reset the router they either took their time about it or didn't bother at all. With good wifi my 'holiday homework' time could have been kepto to 10 minutes a day as it was in Rimini. As it was I kept having to log on and off as the connection came and went.

Gorgeous setting 10 minutes from Orvieto atop a hill with spectacular views of the Umbrian countryside. The facility has an amazing pool with bar service and an incredible restaurant that serves wines grown in their vineyards. Our room had a phenomenal view with a private balcony. The room was comfortable albeit a little warm (it was late July) even though there was A/C. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Orvieto to stay here- hands down- you have a great pool, wonderful setting, gourmet restaurant and you get to walk a few short steps to your hotel room.

La Rocca was exceptional. Four friends took two big, airy apartments, the delightful Oliveto and Querce. The setting is superb, high on a hill overlooking a landscape of surpassing beauty, with the unique ciry of Orvieto just around the corner on a massive promontory. The reception, housekeeping (hi Rosa and Laurena!) and culinary staff are friendly, helpful and very professional. Their English is generally excellent. Our breakfasts on a flower- decked terrace were magic - and delicious. Two dinners in the fine restaurant were wonderful and the wines from the proprietary vineyards paired beautifully with the meals. The pool area was relaxing and perfectly clean. Loved it. We all agreed La Rocca surpassed our highest expectations. We often stopped still on the path to our apartments just to drink in the exceptional beauty of the location and to appreciate the warmth of the welcome we received. And all very reasonably priced for such richness of service and such a setting.

The walk from the apartments to the restaurant is short - 4 minutes - but hilly and might be difficult for seniors and physically challenged visitors. Without a car La Rocca would be hard to get to, as it is up a windy road and a longish taxi ride from Orvieto train station. If you're not wanting to explore the region - maybe just interested in a romantic or relaxing weekend with great food and a very special setting - it would be fine even if you are car-less. The station taxis know the way! A caution - the glossy smooth floor tiles in the pool-shower area are dangerous when wet - which they always are after you have your shower. Some rough mats are needed in there - I nearly lost my balance three times and La Roccca should try to deal with this little issue.

The apartment was very well appointed with a lovely kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. If you are looking for a place in the countryside with cooking facilities and fantastic views, this is it. Be sure, however, to get the apartment called Ulivetto or one in the same building. Facilities at La Rocca are excellent and include a very good restaurant where our best breakfast in Italy was served. Overall, excellent value for money. It's close to Orvieto, but you must have a car to get there and to other places in the environs.

Kitchen could have been better equipped, especially if you want to do your own cooking. Small things which can be easily attended to like more bowls, platters, plates, etc.

Panoramic and quiet rural location close to Orvieto.

Either the room was too small or there was too much furniture placed in it. Also we found the room was not very well cleaned and the shower head refused to stay upright by itself. Hotel restaurant was also very expensive for Italian standards.

Bellissima la location e il ristorante. Camera pulita e gradevole il relax sul patio della camera con vista sulla vallata.

Mi aspettavo qualcosa in più dal centro benessere.

Tutto perfetto, dalla posizione alla struttura alla gentilezza dello staff.
