La Rotella Nel Sacco

Margherita is so kind, helped us with information a lot. The room is clean and nice, for this price, I can't complain.

Very nice owner signora Margherita (grazie mille per acoglienza cosi cordiale e amicabile) is very friendly and heplfull person , good location near railway station and comunication nood Porta Maggiore, very nice room with private door from the street, cleaness, full privacy

Breakfast will be to small for people from eastern and central Europe but it 's typicaly italian very light breakfast and it is rather hard to find "normal" breakfast in Rome

The host was very helpful. My friend and I just stayed one night though she provided the information we need as much as possible.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, bathroom, breakfast well equipped. But the best of the place is the owner - Margherita, our lovely host. Very helpful, open-minded, speaking fluently english, french, explaining us everything we need to know: buses, where is the supermarket, where to go to eat, etc. We have felt like visiting an old, good friend in Rome :)

Hard to say, possibly someone may not correspond to the morning sounds of the street with the window open. But it did not bother us because it was not heavy.

The hotel is part of a house and all the rooms are pretty independant. Our room was well equiped and the bathroom was nice. Great wellcome kit - map, directions for the neighborhood and the city in English, local magazine-guide.

One of the owners - the mother, doesn't speak English. We don't speak Italian, but she didn't stop talking to us for more than an hour, after she showed us the room. The night, we stayed in the hotel, was monday evening and there was a huge party somewhere in the house, but nobody ever warned us.

This is NOT criticism of La Rotella as such: It was not clear from the description at Booking.com that La Rotella is neither a hotel nor a B&B. You basically rent a room in a private apartment, consequently, the staff is not always there, so you have to negotiate your arrival and departure times. They don't serve a proper breakfast, what you get is tea and coffee bags and biscuits in your own room (no breakfast room). What we really didn't like was the area around La Rotella -- lots of prostitutes and aggressive teenagers. Transport connections to Termini and Vittorio Emanuele are good, but then again you are surrounded by crowds of suspicious people on the buses and trams. So, I'd say staying at La Rotella was comfortable but too adventurous for us. The landlady doesn't speak any languages except Italian.

Exellent connection from railway station ( Rome Termin ) with trams no 5 and 14. Small family hotel where the owner really gave us a quick and good basic info how to use the trams, metros and busses. She also had a good knowledge about Calabria , our other destination.

Traffic noice starts approx. 6.30 in the morning but did not bother me Maybe somebody is more sensitive but it might be a difficult to find noice free hotel in Rome

Almost everything! The host was excellent and very friendly. Upon our check-in, she sat us down and gave us very detailed information about the city, places to visit and transportation connection (where to take the bus or metro from her place etc). Knowing that it's for our honeymoon, she specially decorated our room. The room is clean, and feels like home. There's a small fridge, electric flask and hairdryer. Nothing to complain about the room itself.

The only thing is that the location is a bit far from the train station (walking takes 20mins, with bigger luggage, maybe longer), but once the host shares the bus / tram info, getting back takes only 10mins.

The owner Margherita was extremely helpful and friendly, as was her mother. Very decent people. Excellent family atmosphere and very clean. One night, Margherita and her Mum brought me a pace of Calabrian cheese, olives, bread and salamis, free of charge, as I was unable to go out due to the heavy rain outside. Amazing. As Margherita could not extend my stay further, due to prior bookings, she went out of her way to find me and negotiate a fair price in another nearby hotel. Amazing again.

It was an amazing stay at La Rotella Nel Sacco. The rooms were clean, the air-conditioner worked, the breakfast plate in the room was full. Above all, Margherita was a wonderful host, who was genuinely concerned about the guest's cumfort level. The location is wonderful for site-seeing, close to Porto Maggiore, which is directly linked to all the main attractions. I would recommend visitors who arrive by train to take a taxi/bus to the hotel on arrival, as it is a little far (900 m) from the already huge train station

Margueritte is an outstanding host who went out of her way to explain the transport system in Rome to us and make suggestions about sights to see. Her friendliness was evident in every encounter we had with her, not just on introduction. The room was beautifully appointed and the bathroom modern and appealing. The beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well. Access to the room was easy and we had free access anytime of the day or night. Free-Wi-fi worked consistently well. With windows closed, all street noise was obliterated.

The distance from Rome Termini was not as close as described on the website. It might be 8 mins by transport, but was more like 30 minutes on foot. With heavy luggage and hot weather, it was quite a cumbersome trek to make - especially because of a public transport strike the day we left. Having said that, 3 forms of public transport are very close to the accommodation.

Margerita is a delightful host and spends the time explaining what to do in Rome and where to go. We used her notes like our bible. The room is modern and comfortable and the proximity to the Termini helped keep costs down as it's just a 15 minute walk (or a quick tram ride) to get the bus to the airport. This saved us around EUR40 in taxi rides. The snacks provided in the room are perfect for the hungry traveller to top up before heading out for a big day of travels. Rome has a many dodgy restaurants that provide substandard Italian food to unsuspecting tourists, but there is an amazing value for money restaurant just up the road from the guest house (Taverna di Minerva ?) which became our extended kitchen. We visited three times and every time the pasta and risotto was fantastic for around 8 Euro.

Slightly cramped in the room if you have large suitcases -- but it is Rome and the value for money is extraordinary. The area up near the termini can be a little seedy later at night so take care.

The owner is very nice to introuce how to visit Rome by English. The room is clean. The staff is nice as well. We are very positive to this hotel.

Our stay was great! Margherita was fantastic. She was very welcoming. She had a paper prepared with information about transportation and location of supermarket, etc. she also gave us ideas of what to see during our stay. Our room was excellent.

This place was perfect. Margherita was the best hostess.. simply lovely. The rooms were very nice and modern with little touches. Truly the best place i have stayed on much travels in Europe. I would recommend to everyone.

Family hotel, very friendly owner, give us great advice about city visit - transport, food, city sightseeing. Very nice location - 10 min walk from Termini train station, 100 m from big Tram station (direct tram to Vatican) Several nice restaurants in 5 min walk.

+/- Snack breakfast in the room - a lot of pastries, but too sweet for us. A little bit noisy from trams - at night you need to close widows (with closed windows there is no noise)

The owner was extremely friendly, could not do enough for us, the room was four star and top of the range, would re commend very close to station and Colosseum. Well done la rotella, we will be back

The owner, Margherita, is very kind. She is very helpful, speaks English very well, shows me where to go and what to do in Rome. Very nice.

The room was clean and comfortable, and we were lucky to have a room equipped with a small kitchen, so we were able to grab something from a nearby supermarket and prepare our own dinner, which made our stay very enjoyable and feel just like home. The location was very convenient too. 5min walk to the nearby Metro Station. 4 stops away from Termini Station (Bus 105, Tram 5/ 14). You can always ride Bus 571 to get to most attractions like Colosseo / Piazza Venezia / Vatican City. The owner Margherita was super friendly and helpful, she gave us all the information we needed to travel around Rome.

This is a great hotel, it's situated on the same street as the Termini which made finding it easy. It is a family run hotel, and Margherita (the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful. When we arrived, she sat with us and explained the various ways we could use to travel from the hotel to different parts of the city, it was very useful. She told us which buses/trains/trams to use, where to buy tickets, and what time everything starts/stops. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the nearest metro or there is a bus stop right around the corner which takes you anywhere in the city. The rooms were cleaned daily, and re-stocked with packaged treats to have for breakfast. The room had a fridge, its own boiler, and the shower pressure was great! What more do you need?! I would definitely stay again.

Nous avions reservé une chambre pour 3 adultes et la 3ème personne a du coucher sur un lit d'appoint tres inconfortable. La premiere chambre qui nous était destinée ne devrait être qu'une chambre pour 2. Puis changement pour une autre chambre à l'étage, beaucoup plus grande et tres agréable avec coin cuisine sur le pallier ce qui donnait de l'espace . Aurait été parfaite si le 3ème lit avait été un vrai lit... Bruit de la route et du tram mais nous sommes à Rome... Margaritta a tout fait pour nous satisfaire de cet inconvenient. Petit dejeuner tres moyen composé essentiellement de viennoiserie et biscuit: pas de beurre ni jus d'orange.
