La Scaletta is excellently sited for an easy walk into the centre of Medieval/Renaissance Florence, and is opposite a major Medici palace, Palazzo Pitti with its Boboli Gardens. The staff were all lovely and friendly and effective. Nothing!

Excellent location - wonderful roof terrance from which to view the cityscape (including the wonderful dome of the duomo) in the evening whilst having a beer - comfortable bedroom - helpful staff Your questions with ready-made answers seem to ignore the most important aspect of a visit to Florence by many travellers - viz., the fact that it has the No.1 museum in the world plus a host of wonderful paintings, sculpture, etc!

The location on the PonteVecchio was perfect for walking to shopping, markets, Uffizi, Duomo and Statue of David. Breakfast buffet was nice, great dinner location on the roof with great views. NINTY SEVEN steps UP to the Reception area. We had read that it was on the second floor. Elevator large enough for one person with a few suitcases. Our room was in a newly renovated section of the hotel. It was not furnished well, small table to put things on, one chair; room did not appear complete and smelled like paint. We were told we were the first ones in the room. Workers were drilling and renovating down the hallway so sometimes noisy. The bathroom was not user friendly. There was only a sink and no counter to put anything on. No place to rest clothes, shaving kit, etc. Newly renovated hotel wing but VERY IMPRACTICAL. I would not stay there again.

Very friendly employees, very clean and in a great location closed to all museums. If I ever go back to Florence that will be the hotel to stay in.

Fast Internet Mini Frige Large bathroom Temperature contolled room Location Easy to drop car off and have the local garage take your car and store it for you.(28 euro/day) Or park your car yourself. car park not for as well. Great view from the roof. No English tv stations, noted but not important. Breakfast cost 7euro/pp. some rooms probably include it tho. Narrow 2 flights of stairs to our room. None of these are deal breaks tho.

The hotel was good value for money, the room was nice and the bathroom was big although the shower was tiny and the lighting in the bathrooms is horrendous- hard to do your makeup. Actually the lighting in the room is poor too. Location is great, and they have a fab roof top terrace. The lighting was really bad, and they don't change your towels every day. I know you're supposed to be Eco friendly and re use your towels, but after spending every day travelling all around Florence and elsewhere a long shower at the end of the day with a clean towel is a must.

The staff was very friendly and helped us a lot when booking a rental car. Great location as well, everything is within walking distance. The cleaning staff did an excellent job as well. The walls are kind of thin and you could hear people moving about early in the morning. Also, the beds were too firm for me, but my boyfriend thought they were just fine, so that's just personal preference.

Everything! The design, the location was perfect (15mins from the train station, near the centre of everything and on a beautiful shopping street), the view from the roof is spectacular, the staff were entirely helpful and lovely, the breakfast was ideal, our room was beautiful. I am recommending this hotel to everyone I know - it was brilliant, will definitely return.I didn;t want to go anywhere else in Italy once I had been here!

Hotel is well-run, breakfast was nice, location is perfect for city walking. Price was very reasonable. Tile floors were spotless, but very cold in February! Not the triple- sheeted beds you'll find in more expensive accommodations, but clean and comfortable. Lighting was rather dim...suggest bringing a stronger bulb if you plan to read bedside!

Firstly, the roof terraces must afford the most amazing views in the city. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere - a real feel of being in a traditional Florentine home. The breakfast were good for me - a vegetarian - rare in Continental hotels where breakfasts are usually just sausages and ham. The staff were helpful and happy and the hotel seemed extremely well run. Thank you Scaletta for a wonderful introduction to Italian hospitality. Unbelievable value for money.

Polite staff, very clean rooms, comfortable beds and spectacular view from the public terrace. I would definitely prefer the same hotel in the future if I'll visit Florence again. No elevator connecting the reception to the rooms two floors down.

It was a great location for walking to Pitti Palace, Duomo, and many other sites. The hotel was very comfortable with a nice breakfast. There is a great terrace to enjoy a view of Florence. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and opted to skip Milan and return to Florence and La Scaletta after our 4 day trip to Lake Como. I would highly recommend Hotel La Scaletta. The lighting was a bit too dim for reading in the room at night.
