The Hotel Desiree has accommodations on the cliffs above Sorrento, and is less than just over 1 mile from the center of town. It features stunning views of the Gulf of Naples.
Score from 541 reviews Good
The service was excellent, prompt and courteous at all times. The service at reception was not always as above. The scenery was amazing. Do not move the building. The room size was spacious and all amenities were very conveniently close at hand. The waiting staff in the restaurant were amazing and always doing their utmost to ensure our stay was a memorable experience.
The shower was not fully functioning. The door in the safe had been removed. However the staff did provide a portable safe. A larger variety of meat dishes at the restaurant would be helpful for anyone not eating fish.
Tha location is excellent, the room was nice.
The bathroom is small, the tap works wrong, no enough light, lamp doesnot work. The restaurant is very expensive, but it is not enough of quality. The steak was cold served.
Pay a bit extra and go for the rooms with the terrace! Amazing views. Hotel restaurant is fantastic.
We liked everything especially the view and location.
Private beach Good location Nice views
A lot of stairs Our room was quite small for the price
We chose this location for the views and beach access and was not disappointed. An added bonus was access to Wifi in our rooms. Breakfast was excellent provided you did not leave till late as platters were not topped up once empty. We appreciated that a cooked breakfast was included in the price.
Felt staff went through the motions rather than genuine friendly approach. At breakfast coffee/tea service not offered till breakfast over
Our suite is very big with wonderful seaview.and there is a private patio and spa.
Not suitable for elderly , thereis a steep path and stairs to the beach, although there is alift, still has to walk for a while.
The location is fantastic, nice wiew from our large terrace to the hills and to the bay. Excellent high-speed internet. Private beach.(elevator+ 70 stairs)
The breakfast is good, but every day is the same selection.
fantastic views decent room with sea views substantial breakfast offered hotel beach was unique and enjoyable lots of attractions and things to do in Sorrento a trip to Capri a must
Our room had the best view of Sorrento, Naples! Cannot explain the beauty of it all. The restaurant in the hotel was also superb and the staff at the restaurant and hotel both great. The private beach was a blessing
We liked everything,it was the most beautiful place in Sorrento.Beach is amazing, view from the room is magnificent. The service is great and personal is very polite, very beautiful atmosphere everywhere in hotel La Tonnarella. Thanks a lot
Size of suite was nice. room was clean staff was very friendly and helpful New towels daily great location
Bed was too hard
Location and view
Beautiful view Pleasant staff Clean
Charge at beach for sun bed No tissues Distance from town-how about shuttle bus every hour to and from town Needs pool Restaurant toilets don't have toilet seats!!???
This is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed at.The location, on the side of a cliff, provides stunning panoramic views. A lift takes you down to a beautifully secluded private beach. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. The hotel itself is colourful, interesting and immaculately clean.Breakfast is generous, buffet style, and a hot option is available.Parking is available on site.We highly recommend La Tonnarella and will return next year.
It would have been lovely to have breakfast served on their beautiful terrace.
Fabulous location with amazing views from the bedroom balcony. Lovely Italian décor. Great breakfast and dinner. Staff were very helpful when we had a dental emergency.
The shower was very small although th bathroom was roomy.
This hotel was amazingly everything we were expecting. The room, bathroom, private terrace, grounds, and location were all as hoped when sellecting where we would stay. It was walking distance to Sorrento's Main Street through town. The staff was very helpful in many ways as I had many questions during our stay of four nights. We had a superior room with private terrace with full view of Sorrento, the coast, and Vesuvious. It sets up on top of a precipice with nothing blocking views. It has it's own secluded beach also. Breakfast had a good variety of pastries, fruit, and cereal. And the chef ready to cook for us. I recommend this hotel highly, and if we go back we will plan to stay there again.
Dinner the one night we ate there.
Stunning sea views. Fantastic view from the terrace and restaurant. Sea view room is the way to go if within your budget. Good breakfast.
No elevator working to first floor room.
Great views from the rooms, the terrace, and the dinner restaurant
Received several hang up phone calls in the middle of the night- as the phones go through the hotel line, not directly to the room,it was frustrating for
Nice location, beautiful patio. This hotel could be really, really fantastic five star if the owner put a little more into fixing up a few details.
Broken Glass on the floor. Electrical wire hanging in the shower. No laundry services on the weekend. Dinner wasn't so good.
We had a Deluxe Double Room with Sea View for three nights. The hotel has picturesque views of the Gulf of Naples and of Mount Vesuvius. It is beautifully decorated and very romantic. There is a private beach shared with one other hotel and parking for EUR 5 per day. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant on the first night.
If you do not have a car expect a long walk down to Sorrento - 20-25 minute walk. They could improve breakfast - the coffee tasted terrible. Information regarding tours to Capri/Vesuvius/Pompeii could have been better advised and explained.
we had a room with a sea view which was beautiful. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels. The breakfast was very good with good quality foods. The private beach was a lovely bonus.
there was nothing i didnt like.
Beautiful rooms with private terraces overlooking the sea. Fabulous restaurant with amazing views and wonderful food.
No pool and far from center of town.
This hotel was just wonderful. Great old historic villa turned into a top notch hotel with some of the most spectacular views in the area. Easy access, terrific restaurant, excellent staff, very nice rooms. I'd recommend this to everyone!
What a view! From our balcony as well as the outside tables where you could bring your breakfast (which was also excellent, their croissant was one of the best i had),breathtaking view of Mt. Vesvius, sorrento port, and the ships going by. And watching the sunset from here is, definitely gorgeous. We went here for honeymoon. 2weeks after wedding, we already made our mind to come backhere for some anniversary trip. It is not a big hotel, heard it was once vavacation house of a wealthy italian family, so it had nice home-y feel decors. Decent clean private beach. If you can afford it by no means go for provate balcony sea view rooms to fully enjoy thishotel, but even if you opt for garden view? no sea view room, there are many awesome common areas (not crowded) to get equivalent view.
Restaurant was excellent for breakfast, but dinner was overpriced and food was unimpressive. You can walk to sorrento town center but it is 15-20min to almost 30 min if you are going to train station. Would have been really nice if they offer a shuttle bus service to the town, even only once a hour. Taxi from train station costs like 20euro+. It is right at the main street and traffic noise was constant in our room, which was the closest to the road. (but we still think that was the best room, as it was at the corner and offered both north & east views from much bigger and private patio than other rooms).Bathroom had a whirlpool bathtub, but it was broken. We wanted to book a tour seeing a brochure which was at the front desk, but staff did not know which company is offering it and could not book. But these are minor, for the view and quality of hotel it was still well worth the money.
