Arriving at the apartments can be stressful if the owner isn't around. We had sent an arrival time as requested, but were delayed by about 20 minutes. The name of the apartments doesn't quite match that given on booking.com, and only the house number reassured us we were really at the right place. Several gates entrances lead from the road and it's not clear which one to follow. Arriving by car, we needed a place to park and the road itself is narrow with blind corners, so not ideal. The apartment parking is off a separate driveway 50 meters away that isn't signposted in any way. We were eventually helped by another guest who came out to help us. Having parked, we set about trying to find the owner, and other guests again told us which apartment was hers. Knocking, we received no answer, so resorted to phoning. Communication on the phone was a bit stilted due to language differences but eventually we told her where we were and she soon appeared. A bit stressful after a taxing drive from Napoli, but we managed and overall I'd stay there again (especially now that I know where the parking is!).
Le Cicale is a collection of apartments in Conca Dei Marini, a small town on the Amalfi Coast. Built into the hillside on one of the higher roads through the town, the apartments have views of the coastline and the sea. Overall the apartment we stayed in had a good feel and was a fun place to stay. It felt like a real holiday house, with a large bedroom, a proper bathroom, a patio on the ground floor, and a private balcony on the upper floor off the bedroom. The architecture is in the local style, with white walls, tiled floors and quirky features. Accommodation is basic and somewhat holiday-style, but many useful things were provided including clothes line and pegs, plates and cutlery, candles, hair-dryer, iron, etc. The owner was helpful with details and a folder full of info about the local area. Private off-street parking is available at no charge.
