Just a 4-minute walk from Catania’s main shopping street, Via Etnea, the San Giuliano is an intimate hotel with a Parisian-style breakfast room.
Score from 86 reviews Good
Staff were friendly and helpful with any enquiries. Located right across from the beach. 15 min walk into town or port. Pool was large enough to swim in and clean. Breakfast full and hearty. Plenty of room/space to move around the hotel.
Lack of fly screens; mozzies aplenty. Dogs hanging out around the kitchen just below our room barking throughout the night. Noise from kitchen coming up to room early in morning to late at night. Really hot room; again prob due to kitchen below. Generally rooms fairly run down and bedsprings most uncomfortable.
pretty much everything
We chose this for one night because it was our last stop before flying home and it was close to the airport BUT
it is a dump. Even when new it was likely never that great because of the layout and the acoustics but it has been let go. Almost everything was damaged or corroded or not working with the smell of mould in the bathroom, obvious water stain issues. This may be a great location if you want the beach but then we suggest you stay somewhere else. It was the most expensive of 12 hotels/ B&Bs and it was by far the worst. We nearly bailed but it was too much hassle on our last night. Do not book here.
Nice set up.
Noisey air condition. Old bathroom
This hotel didnt worth 108€ (for a triple room). It was ut l'y and not confortable. And the breakfast wasnt good. The hotel is located in front of the beach but the beach isnt nice. It looks like a factory of parasol. Absolutely avoid this hotel ! For the same price you have much better !
Closer to airport, 10 min to Catania (center) by bus, pretty authentic design, 5 min to beach (Lido Arcobaleno) free parking on hotels territory Pretty nice hotel area Good stuff on the reception Good price-quality balance Good recommendations for excursions (Etna Sundusk etc.) 30 min by car to Etnaland 45 min by car to Sicilia Outlet Village 15 min by car to Centro Commerciale
no safeboxes (also on reception desk, but you can ask the stuff to hold you documents and money in their room) towels are clear but sometimes with holes dinner in the hotel can be better (for example - tomato salad is just peaces of tomato) 50% of stuff speaks english very poor weak (or no) wi-fi connection in the rooms Glasses for beverages in the rooms are absent, plastic glasses in bathroom too short, so toothbrush had always fallen down Tough pillows
Nice room and pool, a.c was very good. Staff are polite and very helpful. TV channels were fine.
Breakfast items are always the same, very basic with no fruit, no brown bread, sausages, etc Location by the sea but not very central and few restaurants nearby. Need to spend money on taxi if you want to travel around.
Our room was dirty.
The hotel had a very tasteful and friendly interior! Bright and welcoming! Gentleman at the front desk was friendly and worked day and night it seemed!
The personal and staff was absolutely horrific especially the two gentleman who serve dinner at the pool! Also the guy who closes up the pool so it can be transformed to a pool side dining room pulls the chair out underneath u without saying a word. Impolite, no personality and disrespectful! No smiles hello, good bye!! Shame that they represent italy/sicily The beds were very uncomfortable, pillows made out of wood! Pool could use a little renovation moldy and broken edge at the pool drainage guter! Food in the restaurant was disgusting! An hour in they were out of bruscheta!
Location is good, Catania is 3,7 km away,5 min.by bus (1€).Clean beach cross the street, hotel provides free of charge umbrellas and sunbeds.Pool is good.
Breakfast very simple. Rooms and balcony need to be cleaned. Nothing around do in the evening. You can go to Catania, but just remember that last bus leaves at 21.00 from Catania, so you have to walk or take taxi. (If you don't have car).
Location for where we needed to be
Shabby outside, need refurbishing.
I liked the staff they were very helpful !
The matress needs to be changed!
building well designed. comfortable rooms staff gentle and friendly near to beach, airport and center ideal for relaxation good value for money
weak and slow internet breakfast not much choice no emergency lights in rooms
Restaurant was good
Noise from guests.
Wifi available, good access to ipermercato (known as Auchan) by foot. Balcony with chairs and table.
Swimming pool was closed. Loud music all over the area (speakers). Dogs without an owner in the garden and on the parking.
Location to airport for late arrival
Hotel room was very basic. Showere was for a very small person. Wi-fi did not work. Limited menu for evening.
We stayed just for a day and the hotel was great. The only remark is that breakfast could have been more variable.
Close proximity to Catania airport. The hotel is very convenient to spend the night if you have a flight the following morning.
Cold/lukewarm shower water.
Parking was excellent. Great location.lovely hotel.very airy
The hotel was very near to the airport ,we stayed at the end of our holiday for an early morning departure. The evening meal in the restaurant was surprisingly very good and reasonably priced and the restaurant was bright and cheerful.
The room was dingy and shabby the shower cubicle so small my husband struggled to get in. We went for a drink in the bar but it was soulless so we took our drinks into the reception area that was more comfortable. The breakfast was terrible I could not even get a hot drink there seemed to be only one member of staff and she did not have time to replenish the food or set up clean tables. Not the best end to our holliday
Friendly and helpful staff Good value for the money
Some more local "pezzi da colazione" would be appreciated for breakfast :)
the location was good for the airport.
the hotel was in need of a good clean and espicilly the bathrooms, both in the room and in the lobby. breakfast was very small and they ran out of food after 15 minutes even though there was only about 20 people in the hotel. it is not like the pictures they show.
This is a nice family friendly hotel. The roles were comfortable and the staff friendly. The building itself is a very traditional design and quite pretty.
Shower was a bit mouldy but clean enough.
