눉Carla, the owner, does not speak English, but her daughter does. The entrance to the room is a bit scary if you arrive a night, but it is OK once you are in the room.
눇My wife and I stayed at Le Stanze di Galileo from 29 July through 31 July. The B&B is centrally located near the Piazza, but not very close to the train station. It is an old building (Galileo Galilei studied math in this building in the 1618) that has a warehouse feel, until you are in your room. It is also a bit hard to locate, in that there is only a small sign or two on the side of one of the buildings that direct you to the room. When we called the owner, her daughter spoke English and met us and our driver on the road beside the building, and helped my wife carry her bags to the room. The first impression of the building was not good, but we felt safe once we got inside. The room had a full size refrigerator, was tastefully remodeled, and a very good value for the money. Perugia was a very pleasant surprise, with its beautiful architecture surrounded by the hills of Umbria. There was a jazz and gospel event throughout the city, which we really enjoyed. All of this is within walking distance of Le Stanze di Galileo. After having stayed here once, we would stay there again.
