We still managed to stay when the spa was shut, which was a disappointment, but as the restaurant was the main reason to stay here, it wasn't a big problem.
We stayed at this family run hotel and ate in the restaurant 3 years ago and it was my husband's first choice for a memorable meal for my 50th birthday. On booking, the hotel immediately e-mailed stating that they had reserved their best room and a table on the terrace for the occasion and to see if my husband would like any special arrangements such as a cake. We were an hour late for our meal, due to a mix up with time differences (our fault!) and the waitress, although v. busy still managed to accomodate us with a table outside - she even remembered us from our previous visit)! The food, as before, was true Tuscan and amazing, with the large plate of beef carpaccio and truffle shavings my highlight - this would cost a fortune elsewhere. As was the steak Florentine, which my husband had been looking forward to since our last visit! No wonder the restaurant is full every night, usually with both locals and visitors! The wine recommendation was also good and we would happily stay and eat here again. The local bar across the street was friendly and the prosecco at 1.70 euros a glass with nibbles was great. We drove into Pisa within an hour and Chianni is ideal for touring the sights and wineries of the area.
