Bathrooms were surprisingly small for a hotel with so much land. The hotel was also very sparing with their bath/shower amenities. At 130 euros per night, 1 tiny packet of hair & body gel for 2 people was disappointing. Good thing we brought our own shampoo.
No kettle, coffee or tea in the room. We had to call downstairs for someone to bring us a pot of hot water every night before turning in. Good thing we had our own teabags. The hot water tasted like it had been taken from the coffee machine...
Unfortunately, we kept smelling cigarette smoke every time we opened the windows at night. Probably coming from next door or people smoking in the patio downstairs. Not much you can do about that though.
The restaurant prices on-site were expensive for what was offered. But it saved us from drinking and driving, if only for 1 night.
Good location but for the price & lack of basic amenities, am inclined to give this place 2/5 stars.
All the staff (without exception) were fantastic! Although the owners spoke no English, they are very fortunate to have a very likeable and pleasant team who do speak good English & went out of their way to help us when needed. Especially the diligent, young chef in the hotel's restaurant, whom we feel has good potential but needs more exposure to develop and perfect his own style & technique.
We had a very early check-out & one of the owners got up to prepare breakfast & macchiato for all of us. It was much appreciated.
It was wonderful to come back to nicely chilled prosecco & a plate of antipasti, and relax on the restaurant patio with spectacular views all around! Probably one of the strengths of this hotel.
Breakfast was very decent for Italy, included bacon & eggs.
