Just 100 yards from Saint Mark's Square, Hotel Colombina is in a historic building overlooking the canal of the nearby Bridge of Sighs.
Score from 554 reviews Very good
The NH Palazzo Barocci faces Venice's Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. The rooms have free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. Piazza San Marco and La Fenice Theatre are less than just over half a mile away.
Score from 263 reviews Wonderful
A 5-minute walk from St. Mark's Square, elegant Starhotels Splendid Venice is set on a canal in the Mercerie area of Venice.

In front of Rialto Bridge, Hotel Rialto features a terrace with views of the Grand Canal. It offers traditionally furnished Venetian rooms and suites with satellite TV.

Is excellent and comfortable. All 5 stars hotel facilities are available with a marvellous location.
No elevator to rooms. An older person would not manage the four flights
Breakfast, staff and location were great. Nice view. Wifi in rooms
Hotel rooms are all on 3rd floor, but no elevator! Staff helped us take luggage upstairs. Room is poor quality and old, way too overpriced.
Right at the Canal Grande! Our room had a view on a side canal with passing gondola's and singers (very nice!) and there is a perfect balcony with view on the Canal Grande in the corridor, really excellent! Nice room, good bed, good shower.
The airco worked well but could not be fine tuned.
Locanda de la Spada has only 14 rooms in top floor of 14th century building. The location is superb just next to Grande Canale and 5mins walk from St.Marcus square. We arrived to Venice from Rovinj, Croatia with morning ferry, and stayed one night - so location was everything. Staff is very helpful, they knew their surroundings, and had always sense of humor. Even in peak tourist season, service was good, including nice breakfast. If you are tired of crowded, huge hotels, this has the same quality, without hundreds of people - you always have a seat on breakfast, with a view.
With a leg after surgery recently, noticing there's no elevator and all the rooms are on 4th floor, it has it's difficulties. So only for people who can sport themselves up'n down 4-5 times a day.
Location - we took a water taxi from Venice airport to the Santa Maria del Giglio stop. From here is was 10 steps to the front door of hotel. Then perfectly positioned in San Marco for your stay. Great view from general area. Beautiful rooms - we had the disabled room I think (310) which was massive. Four poster bed! Huge bathroom. Just beautiful!
The breakfast area on seats 6 rooms when the hotel has 9-10 rooms? So if we ended up all going for breakfast at same time there was no room. Difficult to eat breakfast in coffee lounge with low chairs and table. Quite a few stairs to walk up to room but luggage was taken up a tiny lift.
Comfortable & Spacious Room Good Breakfast
Wonderful location with beautiful views over the grand canal. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Although room didn't have a great view, the balcony in the main corridor provided us with a place to relax and take in the atmosphere.
Service from staff was exceptional. Very helpful with no hesitations. Great breakfast The view from main balcony The rooms were excellent, perfect size. Very comfortable stay. Lift for luggage was also very helpful.
No lift for people (but probably need the exercise anyway!)
Location, breakfast, view, lovely rooms
It's really hard to beat this hotel in terms of its situation - near st marks square - and its views - over the prettiest bit of the gran Canale. Room furnishings are simple, but the views are really all you need!
We were ok with the 79 step climb to our room. But the lack of lift means this hotel is not so suitable unless you are fit!!
Very clean, nicely decorated rooms. Location is absolutely great and a five min walk to square. Overall a great hotel perfect for a few days in venice
Mattress was too firm. No variation with breakfast.
Location was excellent for exploring venice
Bed was very hard
Location was fantastic. Right beside the grand canal and beside a water boat stop. Breakfast was also great.
No. Just lots of stairs with no lift but had lots of help from staff with luggage.
It is recommended that to take water taxi to Giglo station to get to this hotel, otherwise the entrance is really hard to find. But with the warm advice of the staff we still managed our way from San Marco Square on foot. The view form the balcony and the side window in the room has been splendid. The room is clean and the breakfast is good.
Though the location is perfect but the entrance is really hard to find.
A modern boutique hotel in a very old building. Good amenties and comfort. Amazing breakfast.
I think the hotel is new as well as the staff in this industry. THe staff lacks hospitality experience and the warmth. Not well informed and poor communication skills. For some it may sound rude too.
Location was brilliant! Right at the ferry stop Giglio. No dragging heavy suitcases along every nook and crany narrow street. Oh and awesome breakfast!
Personal preference but the mattresses were as hard as wood. Husband and I both had sore ribs. We dreaded going to sleep at night.
Location, room size, comfort, waiter, breakfast
Desk staff a little grumpy
Excellent location just off center to avoid the crowds and right on the vaporetto stop. Amazing view across the Grand Canal. Clean and spacious rooms, recently renovated. An added feature is the 4 floor staicase necessary exercise to reach the premises.
It would help to clarify the rules and procedure for the use of the luggage elevator upon arrival so there is no misunderstanding.
The view from the balcony The location was good though the place a little hard to find.
Front desk was at times confrontational and did not provide much information on how the hotel worked such as Wifi and TV and other little things that added up to having to call frequently. Endless stairs to get to your room and while I knew this when booking here it is not something I would choose again. You can get the view of the canal in other ways. The room was small but that was expected.
Great location & value. Very modern & clean. Good size room & beds. Delicious breakfast
The location was excellent, although a little difficult to find, down a very narrow alley. The views over the Grand canal from the breakfast room were amazing and the singing gondoliers cruising below each morning added a certain romance!
A couple of the staff were a little less friendly than you would expect in a hotel of this standard. There is no lift, so not good for those without enough stamina to climb at least 4 flights of stairs.
Room 302 with view to the Canal, priceless!
Finding the hotel with luggage...
The old building. The views from the balconies. The closeness of most of the main sightseeing attractions. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The lovely breakfast.
The entranceway to the hotel, down a very narrow alley, but this was the only place the entrance could be.
