Very nice hotel in the sassi area. Very clean and beautiful rooms as well as very good breakfast. It is not that easy to find the hotel and reach it by car. |

Unique modern design created out of caves. Very comfortable. Hotel staff very helpful and recommended excellent restaurant. The town itself is fascinating. We were there on election night which was great fun. |

The location on the tiny main street running through the Sassi area of Matera was ideal for exploring this historic World Heritage location, but was also only a few steps up to the slightly more modern but still fascinating main square and shops etc. The Locanda is a beautiful hotel with around 30 rooms on 4 or 5 levels, all individual and some, like ours, built into the rock face and caves. |

Locanda Di San Martino provides an unusual and exceptional experience. The hotel has taken full advantage of its unique location, making staying in a cave a most delightful and comfortable experience. The hotel is charming, and the staff are exceptionally accommodating and pleasant. We could not have been more pleased. |

What a wonderful place to stay with so much History at your finger tips! The staff were all very helpful. We were given an upgrade at no extra cost. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. It was such a delight to walk around the Sassi, especially at night. |

The kindness of the staff and its will to help in any way, the whole experience of sleeping and taking breakfast in a beautiful environment such as the one of this hotel. The location is perfect and the night amazingly quiet and relaxing. The bathroom was a must !! Nothing that I did not like.. Maybe just an advice: rather then having the staff park your car in a secure parking (for 10-15 EUR), which is however very helpeful since it is not needed to tour Matera, I would suggest leaving it in the free parking spot which is not more then 5 minutes away. |

L'Hotel In Pietra is set in the heart of Matera's Sassi and conceived as an exclusive, elegant boutique hotel Enjoy the atmosphere of privacy of this suggestive location. |
Situated in the centre of the Sassi district, and near Piazza San Pietro Caveoso, this striking historic palace has been completely renovated with care taken to maintain its original features. |
The historic residence Ridola was built in 1872 by architect Leonardo Ridola, brother of the Senator Domenico - a passionate archaeologist to whom the National Museum of Matera is dedicated. |
Situated in the 15th-century Casalnuovo district, this residence is directly on the main access road to the Sassi: the areas of characteristic houses carved out of the rock that are unique to Matera. |
