눉No elevator. Not a complaint, as previous reviewers had already commented on it, but the stairs are steep and windy. So if you're on the top floor with a large suitcase or two you may struggle.
We are all now wifi junkies, so when the hotel's free connection was down for 36 hours it was a major headache for our modern sensibilities. We were fortunate to have a cellular connection to maintain our umbilical cord to the rest of the world. The owner knew of the issue, and basically shrugged his shoulders when asked if it was a temporary problem. My guess is that he was at the mercy of someone else to fix it, and had no clue (or time) how to fix it himself.
Venice in September was packed with tourists (yes, we were part of the problem, I get it). This really detracted from our enjoyment, and we will come back again out of season for this reason alone. Every alley was a game of dodgeball, avoiding folks who just stopped in the middle of the walkway to gawp at the shop windows or to decide if they were lost or not (a common occurrence in Venice). Please, out of respect for others, step to the side and be aware of the world outside your bubble.
눇Location: in between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Clean room, though very cramped (like everything else in Venice, so not a complaint). For a hotel that is really a guest house the breakfast was very good, especially the freshly-baked croissants. Espresso coffee delivered to the table by friendly staff.
Unlike other reviewers, we found the owner to be very polite and friendly. Upon handing our keys over at check-out we were given a number code for the security keypad at the front door, so that we could store our luggage by the reception area and pick it up later.
Even our arrival was not as "dramatic" as others have indicated. We called the number after we arrived at the restaurant that is below the hotel, and were greeted within a minute or so by a friendly guy who showed us the way to the hotel's door. Yes, it's out of the way even by Venice's standards, but that's no reason to complain as others have done.
