There is an on-site restaurant which (we had experienced on a previous trip) which serves wonderful cuisine. We had assumed it would be open but, on arrival, discovered that it was closed for three months. This was slightly disappointing. However, the owners booked us a table at a recommended restaurant two minutes' drive away where we were not at all disappointed. Fabulous. So all was not lost!
The Locanda Della Strada is run by two sisters who inherited the family home from their parents, who lovingly restored this traditional Italian farmhouse. The welcome is exceptionally warm and one feels that one is a guest in a family home, rather than a hotel. Senigallia as a resort has been sadly spoiled by tourism and immigration, yet, set just outside the town in the beautiful Marche Region countryside, one quickly relaxes in the peaceful environment of the Locanda and its gardens. The building is beautiful and furnished traditionally, with some lovely touches. NOT for those looking for ultra modern minimalistic accommodation but definitely for those seeking to experience the real essence of Italy and exceptional hospitality. Breakfast is a wonderful experience. Everything laid out so beautifully.
NB This accommodation is ideal for those travelling to or from the port of Ancona. Just 45 minutes' drive away. A fabulous overnight stop before or after a ferry journey.
