The decor is very tired now after many years
Location, confort, it is a quiet hotel but very well located
service was very slow. Check out took for ever due to some IT issues and the receptionnist was alone
rooftop terrace and friendly staff
room was small, bathroom was very small and certainly not up to 4 star standards. The worst was the lack of isolation, slept very badly due to being disturbed by every passing car and lots of people walking out of restaurant and hotel bar, all through the night.what's more the hotel is VERY close to the very busy road that runs along to the river. whatever you do do not accept room 311!
Bar and outdoor area
Hotel drinks very expensive
The hotel is located just off via del Corso, within walking distance of many of the sights of the city. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and breakfast (included) was very good.
Fantastic cosy atmosphere, beautiful old rooms and excellent bar.
A bit noisy at night
Total gem! If you like old world charm and cosy rooms with true Italian style then this is for you. If you like boring American "luxury" hotels that you can find in every city in the world then this won't be your style.
Building works - but they'll be finished soon!
Location, staff, breakfast, room, decor, all fantastic.
The shower only had a curtain which is terrible.
Perfect location to access the metro or most of central Rome by foot. Excellent staff, professional, courteous, and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. One of the most charming and well frequented gardens in Rome for a lovely evening drink with great music and people.
Wifi wasn't reliable in the room.
The hotel has a faded grandeur that is quite charming
Despite repeated requests, throughout our 8 day stay we had no hot water in our room - the best it ever got was a bit tepid. The staff insisted we were the only ones to complain, but that it is not true. We changed rooms 3 times and it was the same in each room so obviously not just bad luck.
The 1920's style made a warm environment The fire place in the restaurant Friendly staff Breakfast is good with fresh orange juice Location is perfect, neat under ground, piazza dell popolo and trade streets. You can walk to many attractions
No place to sit in the small lobby of the hotel Some noise come from the music in the ground floor restaurant
I have stayed in this hotel several times before and I absolutely love its somehow obsolete charm. However this was the first time I stayed in the cheapest room category and I must say it was a disappointing experience as the room I was given lacked any charm at all... Will go again but in the superior rooms
location was amazing
it was very noisy and the bathroom had a terrible smell. and the loo didn't flush easily
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The building itself is beautiful with the added benefit of the courtyard bar. We especially loved the relaxed atmosphere of it all and the breakfast. The location was perfect for us with just a short walk from the Metro and easy walking distance to the Vatican area. Would definitely return.
Lack of room service was disappointing as was the check-in/room information ie no mention of breakfast times and location during check- in nor was there any hotel information in the room whatsoever. Unfortunately there was building works noise from 7am on Saturday. Bar prices a little steep - 10 Euro for a pot of speciality tea!
I booked Hotel Locarno for a special treat and to get the experience of staying in an old Roman hotel, however we were very disappointed to discover upon checking in that our room was NOT in the hotel but in a building adjacent to the hotel. This was never mentioned to me and was not told till after we checked in. I complained and asked to speak to the manager and was told at reception that the manager was out on maternity leave so I asked for the assistant manager and was told there was none. Asked again who was in charge or responsible for the hotel and the lady behind reception was left speechless. Later and after having gone to my room I was told that they had 2 rooms in the hotel we could take instead, we were 3 people one being a 9 year old child...I went to see the 2 rooms which were very separate in 2 different parts of the hotel building , however I went to look at them and they were match box size so we stayed in the room in the adjacent building which was clean and spacious but not in the hotel. Very disappointed as it felt we were staying in someones apartment. So if booking a room do ask were it is!
I used to regularly visit the Locarno and then after a couple of less impressive rooms and the price suddenly not offering value. I began using other hotels...this trip I returned and I am so glad I did! was wonderful to be back. Refurbished room and bathroom, perfect ambience, home from home (but with a friendly and well stocked bar!) and the location you could only dream off!
So, its still a little old and creaky - but you know what, it adds to the atmosphere. And the refurbishment is on going, so there was some areas blocked off and scaffolding out front, am sure once that is all complete, the prices shall rise, but for now - go!
Old world feeling, big rooms tall ceilings, wonderful outdoor spaces: garden terrace, roof top terrace with great views. The bar, eating area for breakfast has old world charm. The menu for bar snacks was bountiful, enough for two! The early morning fire in the fireplace for breakfast was dreamy!
Nothing! Recommending it to all of my traveling associates!
Hotel Locarno is in a great location close to historic sites, shopping and places to eat. The staff is wonderful, they are very friendly and approachable. They give very clear directions to the nearby sites. The breakfast every morning had many choices and very tasty. My favorite was the cappuccino!
Great location, friendly team, big room ( only ıf you get suits)!!
The seperate building. We had to walk to the reception.
Location, helpfulness of staff ,breakfast ,log fire ,out side area ,wonderful old fashioned elevator ,.the nibbles that went with drinks arranged a taxi to the airport
Dinning room poor lighting .
Location, garden courtyard very nice - good breakfast
Hotel overall felt unloved and a little aged. Bedrooms dark, bathroom felt in need of refurbishment. Roof terrace had no clear service and had dirty tables. Charged 10 euros for a bottle of beer at the bar! Astronomical price
I liked the flavor of the old worn at one time a grand hotel. It had a lot of character. Great terrace for breakfast and drinks. Very nice staff.
My single room was so tiny...and quite worn out...Bathroom was updated, but a tiny box of a shower.
The breakfast table was sumptuous! The staff was very helpful and understanding. The hotel is within walking distance of many of the sights of Rome.
The music in the bar in the evening was overwhelmingly loud! We would have liked to enjoy a night-cap in the roof garden, but the loudness of the music prevented that. Same in the bar.
