Score from 1002 reviews Very good
The location of the hotel and the rooms are very good.
There was a lady in the breakfast room to help the customers. She stared on us all the breakfast long. We were afraid to eat something. The others were all the same, including the receptionist. They are all rude and arrogant.
The bedroom was spacious with a walk in closet which was nice. The bathroom and shower was good. The breakfast service was nice.
After several hours of travel to arrive at reception to a disinterested and unfriendly receptionist was an instant turn off. The porter raced ahead with our bags not giving us a chance to catch up. The bed was totally rock solid and hard to sleep in. I think the bed was from the 1950s. The saving grace was the lady serving us breakfast and cleaning our room who was very nice. It was overall a disappointment. We expected warmer treatment and not a bed that felt like you were sleeping on a wooden panel.
great location very friendly, helpful staff beautifullly clean
Super location and friendly staff. Superior double as single in Annexe was enormous, more economical single in main building was snug. Good breakfast. Very good towels.
No place for shelf for shampoo, soap or bath gel in shower area of either room. Porter left bags in inner hall when transferring between rooms rather than leaving in new room.
Very beautiful, historic building and location. Friendly helpful staff, Old world charm and grace.
No dressers/ limited closet space.
A beautiful and atmospheric hotel with a lot of old-style charm in a great location very near the Duomo and the Accademia, with very friendly and helpful staff
We loved the ambiance and the beauty of the architecture and history of the hotel. It was in a great location and was clean and well run. We learned of this hotel when reading the "Rick Steve's" book on Italy and decided to try it. We were given the discount for that referral and all went smoothly. We enjoyed our breakfasts - there was lots of choice and healthy, tasty food. The breakfast room was always a pleasant, place, with lots of Jack Johnson tunes. While we like his music - we would also have enjoyed something with an Italian authenticity too. We left feeling happy we had stayed there! Our window opened up to a view of a well hedged garden, red geraniums, and lots of red tiled roofs. It was charming!
Tub was very narrow, and kept needing to push the shower curtain away while showering which made for a careful showering experience - but doable. We chalked it up to the number of years the building had been in existence. - Not a problem that would keep us away.
friendly helpful staff. location is excellent. breakfast is good
the bathroom/shower facility - should be better. Mosquito (everywhere in summer I suppose)
We asked them about tours, they booked them for us and helped with restaurants. I lost a diamond from my wedding ring, they found it and called us. Unreal service and people!
Great location for all major attractions, clean room serviced daily, nice little extras e.g. toiletries and hair dryer in bathroom. Free wi-fi and friendly staff.
Bed was too firm and no mirror in bedroom.
Hotel was located in old, charming building. Single room was very spacious. Good breakfast and nice atmosphere.
Very interesting property with winding hallways -- you can tell it's a converted monastery. Not efficiently laid out, but that is the charm.
Elevator doesn't connect all the rooms on all floors (part of the monastery charm is an inefficient layout)
10 minute walk to the Duomo 5 minute walk to the Academy OK breakfast Incredibly attentive staff
A little removed from the real night life scene Kind of pricey
the view of the square, efficient a/c, well-executed decor.
Staff tried fobbing us off with a room looking onto a shaft, and when we protested offered us an unaffordable suite; eventually they did come up with a decent room. The tiny bathroom, with a shower bang up against the loo, very squashed, and like a wet room without sufficient draining so the floor was flooded. Indifferent coffee at breakfast.
Great breakfast and quiet location close to Duomo
TINY bathroom. The shower was basically a curtain around a drain ON the bathroom floor. Everything on the floor in the bathroom got wet.
We enjoyed the location of the Hotel , our spacious room which had a little balcony with a fabulous view of the Dome's rooftop and the Piazza in front. Unfortunately there is heavy construction across the street spoiling the view a bit. That of course is not the Hotel fault. But the Hotel staff in particular the regular reception person were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely, the waiter seemed a bit overworked and stressed. The Hotel reception recommended the Academia Restaurant around the corner which turned out to be an excellent choice. We will return to the Hotel and recommend it to our friends.
We would have liked to be able to print our boarding passes and perhaps have a welcome bottle of water and kleenex in the room.
Its in a city centre. The rooms are big and comfortable Staff is very coperative
Internal rooms colour washroom lock was out of order
LEAVING. Had to endure stay as a)congress in town, b) school holidays & c) try to get a replacement @1730 in the evening?
Original room supplied was not as booked, replacement was a single room with delapidated furnishings and a 30 cm wide window tight into a corner (larger room converted into two small ones) As we were leaving, discovered another couple being stitched up the same way! Booking agency also hopeless
The location was excellent and found the staff helpful and friendly. Our room at the back of hotel was quiet ( think the front ones would have been noisier) The whole ambience was charming especially the breakfast room. Breakfast was very good and you didn't feel rushed at all.
We were disappointed by the size of the room. Found it smaller than expected with extremely tired decore( water marks running down the wallpaper on one side) The fan (air conditioning?) was not effective so would not stay there in the summer. Was very hot one of the nights we stayed but could not have windows open due to mosquitos. The shower was basic but adequate.
No kettle in room. Bathroom very cramped, particularly sitting at toilet.
The service was absolutely great. A bit surprising given our previous experiences in Europe. The breakfast waiters and reception staff were attentive to our every need.
The piazza were the hotel is located is dirty and currently under construction. This obviously is beyond the hotel management control but I mention it because affects the way one experiences the hotel.
Location in the most beautiful piazza in Florence, easily walkable to the sights. Beautiful 16th century building. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
Somewhat small room- not unusual for Europe.
Great location, near the Duomo, helpful staff, Lovely rooms Character of hotel Quiet location Decent tea!
Breakfast choice a little limited but this is minor niggle
Location and staff was great!
Problem with the red spiders on the top floor; but we were moved to a lower floor; and it was great.
The location couldn't have been better, close to the Duomo, adjacent to the Academia, and on one of the prettiest piazzas in Firenze. A historic building with real old Italy charm. A little difficult to find initially ( as are all properties in central Firenze), but then their staff took the car and parked it, and we had no difficulty navigating out of town. Good service and breakfasts.
