Lucca In Villa San Donato

Receptionist is very friendly. When we arrived our room didn't have heating. The heating issue was fixed by the time we came back from our walk but still we were offered two other rooms (we are a family of 3) in case we still felt cold in our original room.The room was warm enough for us so we didn't use the other rooms but it was nice to be offered this option. The location is very good, 7-10 min walk to the old city. Very comfortable sleeping, I enjoyed the blankets. Breakfast was ok. There were cheese, cold cuts, yogutrs, cerial, assorted pastries, few types of tea bags, coffee from machine. Private parking. Overall it's a great place to stay.

This "villa" is a very atmospheric place just minute outside of the City Walls (and with free parking). We had a spacious and comfortable room. The "espresso bar" was excellent.

The breakfast was ok but located in the garden house, which was very cold during this period (of rare snowfall). Our mattress was sunk in the middle, however after we mentioned it to the staff they quickly acted upon it in order to make it better.

There was no kettle in the room although there was tea and coffee and cups

Alessandra is very kind and helpful. The rooms are large, clean and have a nice bathroom. The location is good, just a 5-minute walk from the city centre. Great breakfast. It is a very cosy place to stay.

Good location. Great, helpful staff. Room basic but very adequate for our needs. Breakfast had a great selection of foods - I do not eat food containing flour and there was enough variety for this not to be an issue i.e. plenty fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham. Also had decaffeinated coffee which was much appreciated!

The location was spot on. It was less than 5minutes from the walled centre of the city. The rooms were large and airy. The villa's staff were charming and also extremely helpful.

Stylish old house. Very friendly, personal welcome by Silvia and kind assistance in checking bus/train timetables. Delicious, generous breakfast prepared in advance since I had early morning start - no trouble. Nice touch - complimentary tea/coffee & cakes available in afternoon. Spotlessly clean, large, airy, traditional bedroom with nice modern bathroom. Tea-making facilities in bedroom much appreciated by this Scot - extremely rare find in Italy! Very quiet area of Lucca just outside city walls. Free parking nearby. Wished I could have stayed longer. Will highly recommend this B & B to friends.

Excellent service from the multilingual staff, great location, nice villa, good breakfast.

The staff were great and welcoming, and available for all your needs. They also prepare a lovely breakfast in the morning, and the garden, quiet and sun do the rest. The house is adorable and shows plenty of original features. The furniture however, doesn't match the promised authenticity. We especially chose it for being outside of the immediate citiy walls of Lucca, to experience both sides of life in the city, and because we figured it'll be more quiet. The short walk to the city helped us on our return to digest a delicious meal we had at a local vine restaurant.

Accessible to Lucca and available at all times once registered. Good quality bathroom, plumbing and hot water. Breakfast in the garden under umbrellas was enjoyable. Pleasant and helpful staff.

Exterior appearance, belied a well furnished and pleasant interior. Would have appreceiated air conditioning rather than a fan - which was a little noisy, but efficient

Friendly personell, good location for city trip. Antique appearance but offers comfortable stay. Breakfast is served in the courtyard which added a nice feeling.

Nice place! Although staff is not in residence - the place was well managed. Left info for us on check-in. Rooms were clean and functional. Location is great - just outside the walled part of the city - easy walk into the center where lots of shopping and restaurants. Nice breakfast set up outside in the courtyard - good selection and plenty of coffee, espresso. Fruit and yogurt too.

The owner contacted us in advance providing useful information on e.g. finding the hotel and on what to do if we should arrive outside regular check-in hours. Large room and decent bathroom, good breakfast. Breakfast room was small but there was a possibility to eat on the small terrace or in the backyard.Pretty old villa with a short walking distance to the old town.

There was not ventilation in the room apart from the possibility to open the windows. You could easily hear sounds from neighbouring rooms and the traffic, which those sensitive to noise might find disturbing.

Host very friendly and helpful with information. Close to walk to old town, 15 mins to center. Comfortable room jug to make coffe/tea but no fridge .

We had front room so heard door bang as other guests came home, near main road so heard traffic noice.

This b&b was close to one of the gates into old Lucca. It would have been nice to be inside but this was pretty close. The manager was awesome, even providing free bikes for us to use to get around the old town. A free afternoon snack was available too as well as a good breakfast. The front door was noisy and we could hear people walking and entering their rooms- this is the nature of this age of building though. Our room had a balcony and a good bathroom. We would stay here again.

The room was spacious and clean. We like this villa for it is in a very netural neighbourhood, his good , convinient and relax athmosphere, for the staff good attitude , and their willing to assist, especially.

It's a bit noisy.

Perfect place for Spring break in Toscana and highly recommended if you are traveling by car! Very close and convenient access to motorway’s… Traditional house, 10 minutes’ walk from city walls with free backyard parking for your car… Clean and comfortable room, plenty of space, Wi-Fi, facilities for making coffee/tea in room, very friendly stuff, good breakfast…

Bit noisy if your room is next to front door

We loved the simplicity of this fabulous guesthouse. True shabby chic at it's best. Loved it. Breakfast was plentiful. Freindly staff. Free parking. Very clean. We will be back.
