Travelers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo, and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

Everything is great about Bologna especially if you're a young person. Great food, not very expensive and mostly positive and friendly people. A lot of students in Giuseppe Verdi Plaza was great to see. There's plenty of cheap food that is high quality but even the high end restaurants are not very expensive. Nice architecture and everything is close together (train station, city center etc). I loved Bologna there's nothing not to like about it!

Easy to walk around with many interesting buildings. I am 78 and found walking easy.
I found the hop on and off bus excelkent value . I would recommend getting the 2day ticket.
There are a range of eateries so one can grab a slice of pizza or have a full meal. The aperol spritz are served with small savoury delights.
The food is good.
The people friendly.

Very interesting city. Very walkable.
Very interesting city. Very walkable. The university area is fascinating as is the history of the town - underground canal system, oldest university, etc. It is slightly less busy that other major Italian cities. Great food and nice vibe with it still feeling like a university town (youthful). Had an especially good meal at Da Nello's near Piazza Maggiore. Lots of construction and restoration going on but it didn't really detract too much.

Bologna is a very friendly city with a laid back vibe and very safe....the general prices to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner were extremely reasonable which was a nice surprise! Make sure to get the little train up to San Luca, but do it on a good clear day as the views are amazing! We loved "Eataly" and "Roberto Bistrot" and try all the ice cream shops....Bellisimo!!

Bologna is wonderful, plenty to do for a long weekend.
Bologna is wonderful, plenty to do for a long weekend. It’s flat so easy to get around. The food (gelato, coffee, meats, pasta) is exceptional. It’s clean and reasonably safe with a great atmosphere. Not overwhelmed by tourists (yet). It’s a good base to travel to Florence (too many tourists), Pisa, Parma …
This is a beautiful hotel in every way. The rooms are classical and comfortable and have everything you need. Each room has a it’s own decor theme. The breakfast is outstanding and one of the best I’ve had in Italy. The original art and sculpture all around the hotel is fascinating. The oil paintings in the breakfast room are so good they look like photographs. I would’ve bought one if I could afford it! Staff are professional, courteous and helpful. I will stay here again. It is also very central and convenient to all the sight.
Small compact hotel that is an oasis with lovely small garden with diverse mature pines & conifers on the outskirts of Bologna, convenient to the airport in a slightly commercial area. Lovely mosaic pebbled ground floor reception & dining area, with lovely paintings too. Bedrooms with lovely high ceilings, minimalist nice touches ie the ringed ceiling lampshade, comfy beds with funky orange bed heads, lovely tiled bathrooms with marble effect, nice shower. Nice decor, particularly the red chairs in dining area. Nice breakfast
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the owner (Alessandro) was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend Milleventi Apartments for anyone visiting downtown of Bologna.
I have stayed at many of hotels/apartments but this was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Alessandro was very hospitable and there for every need of mine.
He helped us find a taxi at 3:00 am. and then he contacted us if we were arriving at the airport.
Alessandro thank you so much.
Hotel is in an excellent location, 2 minute walk from the main train station.
Travelling to other cities and to the airport was made very easy as the train station was so close.
I found the area safe and quiet and walked back to the hotel every night when it was dark and had no issues.
Staff were exceptional to deal with and not rude like I have found in some hotels in Italy.
Hotel is very clean...calm, relaxed atmosphere in the lobby.
Hot water for showering never ran out.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The room and the bathroom are reasonably big -very clean and tidy also .Has good AC & many charging outlets.Breakfast was good . It has big parking area just opposite the hotel and cost 5 euros a day. Location is great if you like walking for more than a kilometre to the shopping centres and to Piazza Maggiore. Bus stops to the centre is nearby but as foreigners,it took us a day or two to get the hang of it .Overall,it was a great holiday .Bologna is an amazing city!Full of surprises!
Hotel Garisenda is a little gem in the centre of Bologna. The hosts are wonderful and go above and beyond helping with your stay there.
The rooms are extremely spacious and with an amazing view on the two towers .
Location is absolutely central!
I would recommend this lovely place any time.
thanks to Laura for making our stay so easy and comfortable.
ps the mattress was so comfy I wanted to take it home with me! ;) if only my flight allowed that ;)
Just had 1 night here, but was happy with the stay. The room was large and spacious and the breakfast spread was varied, especially for Italian standards. There was an extra charge for fried eggs/bacon etc, however there were plenty of other great foods to enjoy that you don't feel like you needed them. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and took a bicycle to get into the centre of Bologna which was a great way to explore. Good parking in the hotel.
Staff were excellent and probably the best I have experienced while staying in Italy. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean stay, in an excellent location , and at a reasonable price. As mentioned by others, the hotel is effectively international traveler standard. All the staff spoke good English and made every effort to accommodate me during my stay. I will definitely be staying here next time I am in Bologna!
The hotel is centrally located, minutes walk from the historical center of Bologna. There are supermarkets and shops and restaurants right across the street.
we had a studio apartment which was very spacious and had all the necessary, from an aesthetic perspective the decor was very basic, it was on the ground floor looking into a small courtyard so not a lot of light coming in. but otherwise very clean and practical.
This hotel is located in the heart of Bologna, easy walking distance from attractions, restaurants, bars, and shopping. The hotel room was very comfortable and quiet with a large bathroom and balcony and an amazing view of the city. We drove a car and the staff assisted us with directions to the hotel, private parking on site, and assistance with navigating the streets to leave the city.
Amazing stay at this hotel. Very clean and well maintained. Hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped. Easy parking. Only 15mins from the airport. Bus 90 (bus stop 5 mins by foot) takes you into central Bologna within 20mins. Perfect for a city break. Breakfast was good and staff were very polite. We all loved the pool. Much needed in the high temperatures!
Wonderful large apartment nicely finished and decorated. Very well located to visit all around center of Bologna. Decent access to bus to get to and from the central train station (and airport). A bit of local roadworks made this a bit more complicated. However, would highly recommend this apartment if you are visiting Bologna. Would stay here again.
Close to Bologna Centrale (5 minute walk) and easily walkable to the town centre (10 minutes). We booked a Deluxe room which was huge and had a balcony. The hotel is enormous and obviously designed for conferences but is perfectly good for a leisure stay.
Breakfast was fine but is on an industrial scale!
The restaurant was OK but quite limited choice.
the hotel has a cool design. the staff was nice, everything was clean and it was in a perfect proximity to the city center.
very conviniently close to the Bologna Centrale train station from which you can take a train to the airport or other Italian cities.
extra plus for a very comfortable mattress and a pool !
Hotel Bologna Airport offers very clean and well-organized rooms. The service is impeccable. The location is close to the airport but you still need a cab to reach it. There are a bar and a restaurant but the latter is perhaps a bit overpriced. The shuttle bus is not free but a very good service too.
The staff was nice and friendly and the room itself was clean, warm and comfortable. Moreover, the location of the hotel is very good, it is close to the centre of Bologna, which is nice if you want to explore the city on foot. The price was also affordable. We liked staying there :)
Second time staying here. Still great. A charming hotel in the heart of Bologna. We stayed in the junior suite, which was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helped organise a private car for us to the airport during a taxi strike! Will definitely come back!
Convenient to the airport. Helpful advice from staff to get into Bologna centre; they ordered us a taxi (17 euros).
Best way to get to the hotel from the airport is to get a taxi AT the airport (12 euros), rather than their airport shuttle.
Good location near Bologna's central train station. Also an easy walking distance from the city centre.
The buffet breakfast was varied and very good with both sweet and savory food.
The hotel had a nice quaint feel wich was rather nice.
This hotel has one of the best restaurants I visited while in Italy. The salad was the best my wife has ever had. The owner did a great job of arranging transportation for us to the airport. The room was very comfortable and clean.
