Enjoy the discreet and interesting surroundings of this well-known artistic town, boasting a host of Renaissance buildings and pieces of art. During the first week of September, Mantua is also home of the literature festival Festivaletteratura, attracting visitors from all over the world.

All the staff were unfailingly helpful, one going out for a fresh warm loaf at breakfast when the bread ran out and the receptionist giving much useful advice. A very pleasant and efficient place to stay, as I did for five nights. Mosquitoes! Didn't know about these until too late, then I was told about the spray in the wardrobe which I used to good effect from then on though it was a pity having to keep the windows closed.	10
