“Marcus is a very nice choice for a low budget young couple aiming to have a visit to the city inside few days and enjoying the inner part of the old Rome. The service was excellent and Simona the manager has been very helpful to all our needs such as orientation, selection of touristic sites, selection of restaurants and caffes.”

Location. It's close to everything... Maybe I got bad luck, but this hotel has several serious problems than result in a awful experience. When arriving to the street, there is no outdoor sign and it’s difficult to detect it; the building street hall requires maintenance (at least a simple wall painting!). The reception reveals a cosy atmosphere, but then the problems begun: the room 202 had an awful disturbing noise coming from the electrical power board. You must switch it off (having no light) if you want to sleep properly. The window lock was broken. We asked for help to the receptionist but she could not solve anything. We asked to changed room. She agreed, but since the hotel was full, we had to wait for the next day. The second room nr 205 was a little better (although both were extremely small, which, for me it’s not a problem itself), but on the second night there was a problem with the boiler and we had no hot water! Although we asked for help, we had to wait one hour for the night staff, then we insisted and nothing happened, and only on 3th time insisting they tried to solve the problem. But they could not. So we had to take a cold water shower. Next morning the problem was solved, but late in the evening the same thing happened…This was very bad after walking during hours. The daily staff was very kind and helpful, but unfortunately they could not solve any of the problems and they were not knowledge enough. Being nice doesn’t solve the problems. In addition to this, the breakfast is very poor and the people that are cleaning the rooms are the same that prepare you the table and the morning croissant (just one!!). Tv doesn’t work in both rooms (not a problem for me...but one more unsolved problem in the hotel!). Conclusion: maybe if there weren't those problems the hotel could be acceptable. Considering this, I would recommend to avoid it, even if price is attractive.

Fine location. The bathroom was small. The final cost was about 40 Euros more than the rate advertised--was this due to tax? Also, there was an emphasis on paying with cash rather than through a credit card.

only the location! walkable distance to many piazzas and shopping areas this is infact a very basic hotel (if you can call it that). its basically on the second floor of an apartment block. our room was down a corridor and a dodgy looking wooden ladder (not stairs)!! rooms were dark and gloomy too! towels looked filthy and the the toilets were so small that you couldnt turn without bumping into something.

Hotel gave me a dirty, smell and very small room. My family could not sleep in that room if my family had not tired. The gate is dirty and there were many trashes around gate. I booked that hotel €180/per day. I checked out hotel second day even if I booked 4 night. I asked employee to change the room but he refused and I inquirded him how much do I pay for 1night if I will leave second day. He answered me less than €190 after calling the boss of hotel. Next day, when I cheked out it, she (boss of hotel) told me "I have to pay additional 1day fee followed contract". In spite of I checked several times for my penalty, he told me nothing for penalty at first night. Thus I booked another hotel to stay remained 3 night. Furthermore, she asked me to stay another hotel she booked for same price and period. She looked like thief. She did not apologised for giving me dirty and uncompotable room. She just wanted to make money against tourist. The Booking.com company have to compensate for my room fee because checking out in advance was not my fault. If hotel give tourist dirty and smell room, should tourist accept offer of hotel?

We stayed at the Marcus for four nights in February 2012, and enjoyed our stay very much, Simone our girl on the front desk was very friendly and helpful, she readily booked tickets or tours for us, gave directions etc - always with a smile. Our room was warm & comfortable (we were there during the big freeze) and was cleaned daily. We enjoyed our adequate continental breakfast in the Breakfast room each morning. Position wise it is within easy walking distance to St Peter's,Bascilica, the shopping streets either side of the Tiber River, and the Spanish Steps, as well as quite close to the other major historic attractions. We will recommend The Marcus, as a very comfortable, budget priced hotel to our friends. On arrival at the Marcus Hotel for the very first time - it is rather difficult to find. A bigger sign near the Front Gates and Doorbell would be an improvement.

The location is perfect! You can walk to all most famous places. And even Colosseum is in 20 min by walk. That is a huge plus! The room was clean and the design of the surerior room is very nice. Breakfast was fine, but very basic. I felt realy pleasent to weak up in that light room. If I go to Rome I will glad to stay there again. The hotel is located next to karaoke bar so from Friday to Sunday th e music makes some noise... For us it was ok and didn't bother at all, because after walking around the city and eating italian food you fall asleep like a baby, but an old lady next door was furious because of that...

The location was great. However we discovered later that there was better acc. For the same price nearby and incl. Breakfast. Incidentally the breakfasts were not good and we used a cafe after the 1st one. Our superior rm. Had a nice view of a square w/ fountain. Unfortunately it was over a piano bar/restaurant that kept us awake until 3 A.M. As we were locked in to this res. There was nothing we could do about it. Altogether a regrettable exp. And definitely will not be repeated..

Location is great, walking distance of everything, which is critical in Rome. The hotel room was very clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't like that we had to pay in cash, although the booking.com says it accepts every major credit card. The walls of the rooms are very thin, so the hotel gets noisy.

The location was perfect. You could walk to all the sightseeing places I booked and paid for a Superior Double Room but we did not get such room. Our room was so small nothing compared to the pictures on the internet side. We saw some of the other rooms and they were bigger/more like a superior room. .

I like how close it was to the major streets and shopping, also it was very close to the Spanish steps, the trevi fountain, and the Vatican. It was a very small room, so dont expect much...We didnt mind the space however you can hear all the neighbors next to your room and every little sound in the hallway at all times. Also our "white" sheets had a few stains, and the restroom was extremely small, even for a woman. If your just passing through its not bad, just really dont expect much.

It was clean and it was situated in centrum We were not able to pay for the room with a creditcard as the portier told that their connexion was down. We had to go and get som cash money (in the Termini station). We asked for 1000 euro and they charged us 180 euros.

It is an outstanding location, go out the door, turn left and see the Spanish steps. Go right and your at the vatican in 5 minutes. Nice room, very clean and comfortable. Our room was very quiet, even through a very long thunder storm. Find it is tricky, just be patient, it is worth the search.
