Hotel Donatello is situated in Padova historic center, in front of St. Anthony's Basilica, near the ancient Orto Botanico and Prato della Valle, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
Score from 541 reviews Very good
All staff friendly, helpful and extremely willing to make my stay pleasant. Rooms clean, linens crisp and hot water...all a plus. Breakfast was great. On site parking.
Wish they serverd meals for lunch and dinner.
The staff was incredible. You should speak Italian though, otherwise communication will be limited. Good continental breakfast for better price than on the street.
The need to ask for a new Wi-Fi access code every hour. That was irritating to say the least. After a while my phone wouldn't accept any new codes and I ended up shut out of the internet completely.
Location, cleanliness, friendly service during breakfast
Day shift front desk staff not helpful but abrupt, rude, unfriendly
The rooms is tidy and comfortable. As it is located near to hospital and away from center, the room is quiet enough. Breakfast is fair as well.
It is far away from train station, it is nearly an hour walk. Walking to the town center is a lesser problem, but it still takes 4 or 5 streets.
The city center is not very far away, 15 min walk.
- They were stains on the walls in the room, which needed a refreshment. - I had to ask twice for soap (!) because it wasn't renewed. - I changed my booking (one night less), that had as a consequence a change in the room rate: no breakfasts included any more. The receptionist explained that it was booking.com's policy, which is doubtful. Total absence of commercial spirit to please, I had to pay my breakfasts.
Very poor shower. Room very dated and dark.
It was an okay stop on our travels across northern Italy. The staff was pleasant.
The nearest bar or restaurant was at last 10 minute walk from the hotel. After visiting several old cities across the north, this was very disappointing. The room & shower were very small. Parking should have been free - the lot was underused.
The hotel provides excellent value for money. Although situated on a busy road the location was ideal for us with ample parking with only a short walk into The centre of Padova and about a 30 minute walk to the train station for trains to Venice
cheap parking, not far away from centre, few good restaurants 5 minutes waking from hotel...
noise from ambulance cars during the night which is not good for quality of sleep during the night... Hospital is very near to the hotel.
The hotel was comfortable and staff very helpful and friendly.
It was on a main road and a little bit away from the centre
The location of the hotel very near to the city center. Enough parking spaces which were under video surveillance. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was rather poor and the breakfast area was narrow and crowded. Lack of cleanliness of furniture in the breakfast area. Small shower cabin.
Near the beautiful city center of Padua, 10 to 15min walking at a normal pace. Private parking and free wireless connection to internet. The room was clean and tidy.
Receptionist mid-aged man: 1st) on arrival at check-in I spoke in English to the guy and he replied in Italian, I can understand some things, but a certain point when prices were being discussed I gently asked if he could speak in English for better understanding and he spoke 3 sentences and as he had forgot he starts talking in Italian again. 2nd) He started giving a "lecture" in the lobby to one of the girls working there! Very unprofessional. Car parking is charged 5€/day extra. The room walls were full of scratches and marks of bugs (mosquitos maybe) squashed.
Although the room was small, is was very clean, had nice furniture, and felt cozy. Everything functioned very well. It felt like a hotel with a higher rating but for one third of the price. The staff was very nice and helpful. Great job!!
Nothing to report here. More of a quirk than an actual downside, the shower was the smallest I've ever used - but still fully functional and I have no complaints about it.
cleanliness of the room especially bath
constant problem with wifi access breakfast buffet consisted nearly only of sweets and pastries + sweet cereals I would have expected more healthier food gym and spa restricted opening (16 30-20 30)
Good breakfast, not far from the center of town, we enjoyed the hotel's wellness area
It's on a loud corner across from the hospital (sirens!). The shower had a very high immovable shower head with no rack or shelf to place your soap or shampoo.
Breakfast Air Conditioning Bed Linen
The TV is a 17" computer monitor where the news titles dont fit the screen. Wifi is sporadic since they dont have enough bandwidth--it shuts off at the most inopportune times.
I found The Maritan while coming to the end of a long road for me! I was racing in The Transcontinental Race from London to Istanbul by bicycle. Unfortunatley, for several reasons I chose to end my race in Padova. When I arrived in Padova, I was exhausted both physically and mentally and needed somewhere to rest my head and take stock of whether I was going to continue or not. I needed a quiet, safe haven. On arriving, I found the staff to be very welcoming and more than helpful ( especially the manager, sorry, I can't find the card you gave me at the moment to mention your name, but you know who you are!). They helped me secure my bike and I felt relaxed very quickly. Once I had made my decision to withdraw from the race, I needed to get to the airport along with my bike. However, I didn't have a bag/box to put the bike in and with it being a Saturday my options were running out with my flight booked for the following day. No need to worry, the manager leapt into action, phoned around and got me a taxi to a bike shop that had the perfect bag which I duly collected and used the following day to travel home, part of it being in another minibus sourced by the manager at a very reasonable rate once again. I loved this hotel and it's staff and would recommend it highly. Thanks again to all the staff, much appreciated and maybe I'll see you this time next year!
close to sights, very central location
The hotel is near the city walls and a short walk to the town center. It has parking (at a small price) in a monitored lot. The staff were reasonably friendly and helped us with directions.
Breakfast is not included but was an additional fee, as was parking, though neither was too expensive.
Clean rooms, private parking, city center 10 min walking, polite staff.
Wifi did not work at all.
Location is good, staff was friendly and spoke English properly, the room was clean. There was even a fridge (mini-bar) in the room.
Breakfast is 5 euro per person, parking is also 5 euro per person.
Parking next to the hotel (although at 5 eur extra cost)
Very, very small room (difficult to open 2 suitcases and move around), only a junior bed for 2 people, tiny shower (~70cm) and bathroom, very noisy (walls shaking when neighbor closed his door, a/c shaking the metal ceiling when switching on/off). I woke up 3 times at night because of noise.
- friendly staff - good location - good breakfast selection at a good price - Comfortable rooms with fridge, mini bar and AC - I recommend it and would go there again
- shower too small
Nice hotel with friendly stuff
Loud, busy street. The wifi was not the best in the room
all in all a pleasant hotel, pretty isolated from town centre but okay
