It's so close and yet so far from excellent. It seems to be under construction to some degree--at least the landscaping portion. On the rooms they were fine, but a single sink is a miss in the large bath. And plastic, disposable glasses? Gee, they spent a half million on the limestone/stamped concrete parking lot. Use real glass. And on the service, though everyone was nice, they need some exposure to top level service. Getting a drink in the bar was tough. Our waiter was really nice, but knew nothing about wine or how to serve it. Also, though there were three waiters, it really was one waiter with two helpers--the alpha waiter took care of everyone with the other two in a supporting role--it slows things down. And the food, most dishes were excellent, one (a veal roll) was inedible. Other than that dish, impressed with kitchen, especially considering that the entire dining room was seated within a 30 minute period. One other thing: no wi-if in the rooms. Really? In 2014, wi-if is as essential as toilet paper. And for those that forgive this so they can 'unplug' fine, don't log in. And relatedly, thought ALL guests that we saw were non-Italian..American, English, German ALL the television channels were Italian...a miss.. Again SO close to being excellent.
On site restaurant was good, really good. Very quiet, idyllic location.
