Room, staff and food
Awesome environment, well kept estate and excellent customer care and amazing food catering.
Having a young child to entertain, the only thing that we lacked was a tv in our room.
The breathtaking panorama seen from almost any corner of the facility is priceless. Gourmet dishes are awaiting in restaurant to spoil you. Excellent local wine and also local olive oil.
As the walls between rooms are thin, these are permeable to noises coming from adjacent lodged guests. A family with small children among guests is enough to ruin the tranquility for all others. Even an innocent yell sounds like thunder amplified by the contrast with the surrounding silence.
We stayed a few days at Susafa and enjoyed very much the lovely place and the wonderful setting. It is a bit of a rough ride to get to the hotel itself, as some of the last kilometers are driven on minimally- or un-paved roads (but in decent condition), but the mountains are gorgeous and the fresh breeze was so needed to cool down in hot July. The room was spotless and convenient, and the entire estate is so large that it never feels crowded (and there is literally nothing around so the feeling of secludedness lends well to a relaxing stay). The pool is located within a two minutes' walk from the rooms, which means that no noise from the pool can reach you while you are relaxing. There are lots of shaded spots around the entire estate, in which to lounge and enjoy the breezes. The staff were friendly and helpful. Eating areas and bar are in the main buildings, very nicely set. The breakfast (included in room cost) was nice and offered many options, and the restaurant serves really good food as well (it was a great option for dinner since getting to a nearby city is a minimum 20 minutes drive). In the vicinity of Susafa there are some nice locations to visit, and Cefalu (on the beach) is not far (about 40 minutes drive). It was a great place for relaxing and we enjoyed our time.
- takes time to get out of the farm roads to the other cities
if you want to spend one night away from everything and everywhere, you should definitely go to this hotel. you can watch the milky way and stars, enjoy lovely food.
there is nothing around the hotel so if you don't have enough cigarettes, baby food, etc with you, it can be a bit hard. also, the pool is not so promising.
lanscape - rooms -
pool - not very clean if you want to read a book and enjoy the pool / view - not possible a bit noisy because of children around.
Beautiful spot for relaxing 2 days. The staff were very good and very helpful.
Very difficult to find think they could be more helpful in their directions and more signage needed on the way.The road was not as bad as we first expected but you do need to take care.Internet was available but not down at your room level.
location rest beautiful sight
Everything! Very relaxing and peaceful! Food was good, tasteful and fresh. Will definitely be back for a longer stay! Room was comfortable and spacious.
Nothing... before you go better contact the reception to make sure which road to take. The GPS was marking an unpaved road which wasn't that easy especially with a hatch back. There is another surfaced road leading to the property so don't worry, just check before you go!
EVERYTHING! The Masseria is a dream to stay at. We'd often find we'd have the pool to ourselves when we came back from scouring the hills and coastal area. The staff is so kind, we felt very much at home. Our little boy enjoyed himself and had a little crush on the lady who would do service at breakfast. The view is as far as the eye can see, the beds are comfy, the dining room is unbelievably beautiful, as is the wine bar. What's not to love about this paradise on earth?
Bring a solid car! The road is somewhat challenging at times :).
the place is situated in a very peaceful area with breathtaking views. We were after a relaxing break and that is exactly what Masseria Susafa has provided us with! we will be back! :) many thanks for everything!
although cleanliness can be noted everwhere, whether by the pool or on the terrace, I happened to have a soiled fork at dinner time.. maybe it was just my luck! :p
Very friendly staff Lovely pool area Peaceful environment
Absolutely perfect for relaxing holiday!
Too short stay..
Great views, tranquil place, beautiful restored. Breakfast buffet tasty, staff very warm.
Same new age music every day for breakfast which seemed inappropriate for the setting. Dinner was good but not as great as the rest, why not do a daily menu with two options instead of a long a la carte?
Beautiful spot, ideal place for hiking and nature lovers
The location is wonderful, breathtaking views and the pool is in a perfect spot. The place is kept very good.
The bumpy road is a bit annoying. It would also be nice if activities are organised for the evenings such as BBQ in the lovely roof terrace given that there are no places in the vicinity and makes it rather impossible to go out at night. However being in the middle of nowhere makes it special because the place is very peaceful.
Stunning views and so peaceful. Lovely pool. Friendly staff who went out of their way to help. Gorgeous food, wine & cocktails! Would definitely go back!
The tranquility of the location and the size of the agriturismo is fantastic! The dinner + breakfast was also excellent. great pasta!!
Nothing particular, I would recommend to take some entertainment with you if the weather is not good(like in our case) otherwise it can be a bit boring..
The location is terrific. Great views over an almost deserted, beautiful landscape. Especially from the roof terrace - from dawn to sun set. The road is really not all that bad we felt; tarmac all the way, just some places where you have to drive carefully. Staff was very friendly, helpful and proud of their hotel. Dinner and breakfast were very good, served in a very nice restaurant with a huge fireplace. The bar was cosy, also sporting an impressive fireplace.
This place has a great ambience. The staff and food are excellent and the bedrooms and public rooms are very comfortable. I would stay here again, but I'd stock up the fridge so I could have cold drinks during the day.
No bottled water in the fridge - and you can't drink from the tap, so you need to stock up if you get thirsty overnight. If you stay here during the day, getting a drink can be difficult due to the limited daytime opening hours of the bar facilities.
The location is absolutely beautiful. The surrounding scenery with its mountains, and flowers offer spectacular views. The Medieval building is massive and the dining room is elegant with its tall arches. The room was nice and had a beautiful view of the mountain . They left chocolates on our bedside table. The restaurant on sight was really nice and the food was superb like a 4 star hotel. The prices were totally reasonable for the food and the room.
DONT use gps coordinates on a Garmin or you will go miles on an unpaved rocky , tortuous goat road with huge washouts and your car has to straddle and bottoms out.
The perfect location and the hidden pool approximately 60 meters downwords from the main buildings and terraces. The view over green slopes. The huge fires in the dining room and bar. We stayed only 2 nights but would have stayed longer if we knew the situation better before. It was breathtaking.
The language english is hardly spoken in Sicily, which is very strange. We could manage with french.
If you like green, this place is right in the middle of the most beautiful scenery you will come across in your whole life. As simple as that. Unbelievable.
We had one dinner there and quality of the food was ok, not the usual Sicilian outstanding food experience.
We had a lovely time at Masseria Susafa! It is quiet a challenge to find it (especially at night) but once arrived its a little piece of paradise! The view is amazing and the food served in the restaurant is excellent! We enjoyed our 5 days there and did excursion to Catania, Enna, and so on. We will be back!
Too bad that we only found out on our last day that they organize horseback riding and cooking classes upon request...for the rest everything was perfect
