The hotel was central to Florence being only 1 block from the Duomo. The room was quite old and dusty, with furniture that looks like it had not been replaced in quite a while. The bedspread was old and the room suffered from lack of any eye appeal. The staff at best, was mediocre, with a lack of patience. We did not feel very welcomed here, more like an intrusion rather than hotel guests.

The location, staff, and amenities were excellent. Easy access from near the Duomo.' Beds are hard (like most Italian beds), croissants cold.

Excellent location - big room, comfortable and laid back atmosphere. The building is reasonably run down but always clean and presented well. If you like the 'modern' look don't stay here.

Perfect location! allowed for easy breaks between sightseeing adventures. The beds were about the same as others we stayed at in Italy. A little too firm for me and the pillows were kinda flat. The bathroom could have been cleaner.

the staff was very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was terrific. The beds were great. THe lobby is beautiful. The location was incredible - it is RIGHT NEXT to everything, just can not say enough good things about it. THe only thing is the signage - we walked right by it, but it seems most hotels in Italy are that way.

Located in a busy street, very near to the Duomo (2 min by walk) and Uffizi (5 min by walk). The room faces to the street, but was very sound-proofing if windows are closed. Wifi was good. Buffet breakfast included bread, yogurt, sorted and fresh fruits, Juices and coffee. I enjoyed the stay in Hotel Maxim.

This hotel is centrally located inside the Florence Cathedral district, it is walking distance from several historic sites in the city and about 8 minutes from Florence train station by cab. My room (single) was smaller than i would have liked, but comfortable, clean as i understand this is normal for the city with older buildings such as Maxim's location. Hotel staff were helpful, one was even a history/culture professor, who part-timed as a city tour guide and hotel receptionist, with much info about the city's history and place as a global tourist destination... hotel fare included a Continental breakfast, which was convenient for me. Florence draws thousands of foreign exchange students annually; this hotel was no exception.... only inconvenience was their evening parties in their rooms, noise, which hotel staff brought under control quickly but with some enforcement effort.

This hotel is in a great location. It is close to the Duomo and easy to walk everywhere. The breakfast was quite good. Seems to be good value for the money we paid. It would be great to have an electric jug and fridge so we could make our own coffee. The beds were also very hard. However, it is a 2 star hotel, so it is unreasonable to expect everything to be spot on.

The location was excellent; short walk from the train and few steps to Duomo and museums and all the shopping. The continental breakfast was very good value. Interesting art on all the walls of hotel with a "homey" atmosphere. Reception area was comfortable with free internet access. Beds were super hard with flat pillows. Showers had low water pressure. Rooms were cold during the day. We stayed at back of hotel in rooms 6 and 7 and every morning would wake from the crashing of recyling efforts which would go on for quite a while; we were on 4th floor and noise was deafening.

Absolutely top notch location just steps from the Duomo and the Piazza Signoria. A staff that was sympathetic and helpful. We were surprised to discover that the lift only went up to the (3rd floor) and our room was at the top of a twenty-four step climb...our baggage was minimal, however both of us have orthopedic problems that made climbing the steps very difficult.

This hotel is in a great location! Right in the heart of Florence. Shops and restaurants are plentiful. The staff was great! We had a problem with our AC, but the staff was able to move us to a new room. The breakfast was great with a good selection. Nothing to complain about.

“The location is superb, about 6 mins walk from train station and about the same to the Duomo/city centre, yet it's in an inner/quieter street. The staff are friendly; particularly the young man at reception who is exceptionally cheerful and helpful - full mark! The room is about average in size for a hotel of this class/price range, and the room and facilities are well maintained; wifi worked really well. The included breakfast is quite good and should be enough to start the day; cappuccino is recommended. I think it's good value for money, for a hotel that's so centrally located, and the really good level of service and reasonably good room standard.” William, Alfords Point |
