Pleasant decor. Excellent breakfast. Managed by agreeable helpful family.
5 minute walk from S M Novella station, but far enough to ensure a peaceful stay. The hotel is on the 3rd floor without lift, but staff were very helpful with carrying our luggage. Room was spacious, beds comfortable, good shower. Breakfast consisted of cereal, cake or a selection of pastries, tea, coffee and juice. Good wi-fi connection.
nicely furnished handy for everything
the 3 flights of stairs
staff attitude cleanliness comfort facilities
the area its located in is a little shady
Perfect location. Very nice room. Really nice restaurant down the street. The Train Station had the best Pizza. Walk to the Domo, Bus and Train station. Nice air conditioning. Very nice staff. Delicious Latte's for breakfast. The Dining room was really nice.
3 flights of stairs.
Central location, Kind staff, Cleanliness, Decoration
The hotel located at the fourth floor of the apartments ( incl nearly 10 room) the apartment consist of two or three other one or two star small hotels, but there isn’t any elevator, it is very difficult to carry bay strollers and luggage. Very small bathtub,
Especially liked the owner and the way he took care of the guests.
Quite a few stairs to climb.
The wi-fi was pretty good.
They don't tell you that this hotel is on the fourth floor, and the DON'T have an elevator! I couldn't do the stairs, and we had to move to another hotel.
Loved the atmosphere, loved the individuality of the hotel, it was not just your usual standard hotel room. It couldn't be bettered for location, shops, restaurants bars all on the door step. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
The family runs the hotel was very nice. The room was spacious, comfortable and the breakfast was great with fresh fruits and delicious croissants. The location is close to major attractions (cathedral within 10 min) and train station within 5 min. There are many restaurants and cafes across the street from the hotel, safe place and off the crowd.
It's on the 3rd floor so 4th level of the building without left but stairs. I wish you they get a left to serve this hotel and the other hotels in the same building!
Good location in relTion to the train station (5minute walk) Staff was very nice and helpful, though their English was not great Room was comfortable Breakfast was nice with fresh fruit, breads, and pastries. Wifi was free and had a good signal.
There is no lift, and the hotel is up three large flights of stairs(though the owner did carry one of our lRge bags upstairs). There was construction next to the building.
The family that runs this little hotel is wonderful! Always willing to help, friendly and great ambassadors for Florence. The location was very close to the mid-city sites -- it was a short trek to sites south of the Arno, but not undoable. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was bright and cheerful...a really positive way to start your day. As other reviewers have said...the coffee was amazing!
The three flight trek up the stairs was not something I looked forward to but I knew to expect it. I wished for a lift at the end of some days. I could tell that the family was trying to address the smoking issue mentioned in other reviews (with odor eliminators etc.) It was not very effective in the hallway but once in your room it was not an issue and not at all evident in the breakfast area. This also floor serves as the family's home, so eliminating smoking entirely is not really an option. If you can't be flexible on this issue, this place may not be for you but you will miss out on all the lovely things about this hotel.
The staff were very nice.
You have to ring the bell and have someone answer the door every time you want to come back into the hotel. This detoured us from staying out to late because we didn't want to have to wake someone. They were very nice and it didn't seem to be a bother to them but it was uncomfortable for us. Because of this we would not stay here again.
The building main entrance was spooky, like a homeless shelter. No elevator. We had to carry our luggage up to 3rd floor!
A lovely family run hotel very close to the railway station and or bus to the airport. True Italian feel, rooms brilliant and spotless. A wonderful stay. Service excellent
Had not realised 3 floors up. No problem to our party , and it did not spoil our stay.
The location is very good.
Close to trains and buses. Walking distance to attractions. Friendly staff. Good security as always had to ring doorbell for access to the property.
Climbing 88 steps while carrying a suitcase. Also climbing them again after a busy day sightseeing. No fridge in room. Also no safe in room.
Very inexpensive place in a great location in Florence. Nice building, safe area, friendly staff.
breakfast - good coffee, but the very old pastry and nothing else
Good internet conexion, good breakfast
They do not change towels
The landlord is very nice!!
There is no elavator for us to carry our luggages
Location ,friendly staff and helpful.
Breakfast could have more variation . Room could have kettle and cups for hot drink. Curtain in shower needed replacing.
Staff is helpful.
Room is a bit dirty. We have to carry luggage to 3rd floor.
What a wonderful family runs the Merlini...This was our second visit there and we look forward to going back....We loved the location and atmosphere as well as the garden view from the window of our attractive room.
Being on the third floor requires an energy level. However, the Merlini's insistence on carrying our bags up and down addressed that issue...
Location - you can literally walk from the train station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast - fresh made coffee and croissant.
No elevator - the hotel is on the 3rd (4th by US standards) floor, so you have to carry your bags up there.
