Hotel Merloni

No nonsense, clean and absolutely value for money. I came to lake Como for hiking in the mountains. For this purpose the hotel is ideal. The same can be said about the restaurant: no nonsense italian menu choices, well prepared. The menu may be too restricted for a fortnight stay, but ample for 3 days.

The location is good because near to Menaggio, easy to find, large parking area.

there is no elevator, and the breakfast is not that good.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The family Merloni are very welcoming - we shall most certainly be returning.

It was nice and quiet even though it had lots of families, it also had a lot of eldery, a good mixture of people. It was clean, staff friendly.

The furniture was outdated. The covers on the bed could be more modern and inviting.

The real service from the family running thre hotel, they enjoyed having guests and making sure we had a great experience

The warmth and friendliness of all the staff. From our arrival to our departure a week later everybody was always eager to serve us, give us helpful information no matter at what time of the day we asked. The staff clearly enjoyed their work and we would recommend this hotel whole-heartedly. Its location meant that it was close by bus or car to Menaggio but without feeling too busy with traffic like the hotels in Porlezza or along the lake road to Como. The space around the hotel and the pool were real bonuses. We had dinner every night in the hotel because we enjoyed the ambience of the dining room and the food, while not pretentious, was certainly very enjoyable.The absence of air conditioning wasn't a problem like it can be in cities.

Nothing... I believe this hotel is very expensive for what it gives. The outside of the hotel looks much much nicer than the inside, the rooms and the service.

The whole atmosphere at this hotel was very cheap... The furniture of the rooms were very plain (my ship cabin had a better atmosphere), the ham and cheese slices at breakfast were so thin you could literally see through them, the pool was 1.35m deep at the deepest point, very depressing hotel...... Now that I know I would rather pay more to stay at Bellagio or Menaggio.

the staff were nice and were accomodating. we changed our booking from 2 to 1 nights - they contacted booking.com on our behalf to sort this out. they were also v pleasant to deal with on all dealings that we had with them.

the accomodation was v basic - it was like a dorm room. the beds were not very comfortable and the bathroom/shower facilities were basic. the room was also v noisy. there were a lot of people walking through the rooms area - we could hear everything - we could pretty much hear people in other rooms. there was no one shouting and screaming but any walking through the area was magnified and all of the doors were banging. There appeared to be no sound proofing at all. We believed the hotel in menaggio - in fact it was a 10 minute drive away. there was no way that we could have walked to menaggio - the roads were narrow, winding and dangerous plus it was too far away. Overall the hotel was v basic and was not what we were expecting based on the reviews on the booking.com website.

location near te way to Lugano and not far from Como lake and Managgio.

Excellent staff and close to Lake Como but much easier with a car. Looks out on small mountains and picturesque villages.
