On arrival, we asked one of the concierges if he could recommend a fairly elegant restaurant, telling him we were on our honeymoon and that it was our 1-year wedding anniversary. He asked if we wanted to have dinner in the hotel restaurant, upon which I replied that we would prefer going out to see the city on our first day. This seemed to annoy the concierge somewhat, who replied acidly that he had another place in mind. I also asked him about Harry's Bar, if there would be any problems having a drink there, to which he replied that "it is very fancy, very fancy" (it wasn't), implying that we couldn't afford to go there.
The restaurant he recommended was located in a dead-quiet street in Arsenale, far from the centre. The place was very unremarkable - a trattoria - and whilst the food was decent and it wasn't expensive, this wasn't what we had in mind for our 1-year anniversary. We also felt very over-dressed for what was an ordinary, casual restaurant.
The restaurant was also full of other guests from our hotel, so it seemed this was where they sent most guests asking for a restaurant recommendation.
Lovely, sumptuous hotel with an Oriental feel to it. Staff were mostly very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
