Our room and bathroom were tired looking. The shower did not work properly, little or no water pressure, bed old and uncomfortable, the in-room safe did not have a lock on it, cupboard doors were missing handles, staff whilst courteous were not overly friendly or helpful...it all added up to us feeling like we were being taken advantage of as we were paying what we believed was a fair price.
Would we return or recommend? No. If we had our time again, Ravello or Positano or actually staying longer on the Italian Riviera where we felt that we got better value for money, for the same amount spent, and a much better experience.
Amalfi is a tourist town, coaches and ferries bring large number of day visitors, and we sensed that almost everyone was trying to make an extra euro or ten from every tourist. Taxi's very expensive, local buses full and finish service early in the evening meaning it is hard to travel between towns at night.
The view from our room was special and the food served in the restaurant was of an ok standard. The room was clean. Staff were courteous. The car service was on time but the times available are limited.
