Providing a free shuttle service to/from the airport, and free Wi-Fi throughout, the Catania International Airport Hotel is just over half a mile from the beach and the airport.
Score from 1339 reviews Very good
La Plaja offers air-conditioned bungalows with free Wi-Fi and an LCD TV. Its private beach features ethnic-style decor and a rustic bar with woven palm leaves. Catania's center is 2 miles away.

Featuring air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, City-In Hostel B&B is a 5-minute walk from the Greek-Roman Amphitheatre and the Elephant Fountain in central Catania.
Score from 359 reviews Very good
This is very close to the airport and ideal for budget hotel for early flights. It is very clean especially bedding and towels etc. and recently decorated.
Staff could smile and offer more info on restaurant etc.
Staff were helpful and polite. Wifi worked well. Free parking in enclosed area good.
The hotel is advertised as being 5 minutes from the airport but it took about 15 minutes or more through heavy traffic to get there and cost 25 euros by cab. The air conditioning didn't work properly and just blew air which didn't cool the room. It also took at least 20 minutes to get to the city centre. Maybe the times stated are accurate in off season but in summer there are 1000,s of people at the beach and the traffic is thick everywhere between hotel, airport and city and times stated are unrealistic.
Some good Beach resorts across the road from the Hotel
Do not stay in this hotel if you want to get some sleep for a flight the following morning as across the road is The Cucaracha Discoteca which seems to enjoy all nighters! Also the 5 minute journey to airport by taxi is 20 euros!
Reception person when I arrived was helpful and friendly.
--Night porter was awful. At 5:30 am, as I was checking out to catch a flight, he announced that (1) he could not take a credit/debit card and (2) he had no change for my 50 Euros bill (room was 44 Euros). Unclear how he thought I would pay. -- WiFi did not work. --Cockroach in room.
It is very close to Ortygia
It's noisy and old
The location was idea for easy access to the airport the following morning,
Upon arrival it was difficult to find the car park as there was no signs and there were lots of people outside shining torches into the car. I think there was a Fayre going on nearby but this was daunting travelling with small children late at night. The hotel staff were not too welcoming but we're efficient on arrival. The hotel didn't feel safe and the room wasn't welcoming at all. The sheets were clean but there were no towels to use in the bathroom, half way through a shower the water stopped. No hot or cold running water, on complaint the hotel offered no explanation for this. I would not stay here again, although the location is ideal for easy access to the airport.
Wifi doesn't work for laptop in the rooms, which is contrary to their advertisement. Round trip by taxi between the hotel and airport takes about 50 euros, since there is no public transportation.
Basically, the taxi driver that the hotel used for transfers. Other than that, nothing
It was supposed to be near the airport, you get all the noise, but was a 20 EURO fare in taxi. The room and blankets were dirty, room smelled, no place to eat nearby, staff
We did like the location as it was close to a private sandy beach, and the decent internet connection. Breakfast was good as well. We actually enjoyed the planes flying right in front of us. Clean room.
Although clean, the room was too hot. The "ristorante" doesn't really look like a place where you feel like in a restaurant, more like a family stuff. Not that we didn't like it, it's just we were expecting something else. We also thought that Miramare has its own private beach, as advertised. However this didn't seem to be the case. Not a friendly lobby and they seem to close everything at night. So, if for instance, you want to work on your laptop and have a coffee at the same time, there's no place for it. So it's a good place to stay and sleep, not expensive, but really lacks some simple yet important facilities for the client.
I would not advise anyone to stay at this hotel, most of what they claim in their publicity is untrue. It is so bad it should not be included on the Bookings.com web site.
Luke warm water only but bearable considering excellent price and location
The location near the airport and the view from my room of Mt. Etna. The antipasto buffet was fabulous. The room and linens were clean and fresh (as I would expect.)
The elevator didn't work - I'm a senior citizen and had to lug my suitcase down three flights of stairs. The staff person in the morning basically just shrugged his shoulders and said it would be fixed later. I also prefer there to be a password on Wifi and the signal was ok but not strong. - the two mattresses on the bed didn't match and so there was a ridge in the middle.
It is right next to a bar that plays loud music till the early hours (even mid week) and it is also directly on the flight path
A/C broken. Should have been named Miraaeroporto.Room had view of runway not the beach. Big dead bug in hallway. Room noisy and hot.
reception of wifi
Not so close to airport, you will need 25 euros to take taxi Attitude wasn`t good
5 slats holding the mattress were missing. Toilet did not flush. Bathroom filthy.
Staff was friendly. Location is great for airport and also not so far (30 min walking) to the center. Room was clean.
We had a small trouble with water in bathroom, however they fixed it immidiately.
Indifferent, unhelpful staff. Despite being able to see the airport from bedroom window the journey from hotel is a nightmare not being signposted.
The bed was missing 5 of 12 slats under the mattress, making for a bad night. The toilet was broken. No hot water. Without a doubt, this was the worst experience I have had travelling anywhere, including places like the Congo, Rwanda and Liberia! Avoid this place like the plague!!
Close to the airport. Great view of Mount Etna from our room.Breakfast was quite good and the waitress was really helpful at dinner which was reasonably priced. There is a bar next door which is very convenient for a glass of wine but.....
We stayed one night at the beginning of our tour and one at the end. The first night it was full of students that were incredibly noisy and kept us awake all night and were actually screaming at times.. When we complained the next morning they were very dismissive and said it was not their fault. The last night was much better but we did hear noise from the bar next door which seems to be open all night.
We chose this hotel because we had an early flight from Catania in the next day and it is located near to the Airport. The rate was very low (39$) and we realy didn't have any special expectations from the hotel beyond serving us for transit flight.
There is no shuttle service to/from the hotel so we had to do it with taxi twice. It cost us 50 Euros and if we add this amount to the hotel rate we paid about 90$ for this stay. It is not cost-effective because for this amount it is possible to stay in a better and closer hotel with shuttle service.
The only thing was its proximity to the airport as we had a very early flight and needed to be close. Also, we had a view of Mt. Etna. Apart from that, please see opposite.
Place smelt of cigarettes all through. Hot water took ages to heat up. Wifi in the rooms is a myth and one had to go down to the reception. Guest supplies poor. Shampoo half full. Staff very uninterested in their paying guests.
Conveniently located for access to the airport. Comfortable beds, good breakfast, clean, courteous staff.
Quite hard to find without sat nav. Plain but tidy decor.
good for early flight from airport. Free and easy parking. The access to private beach a bonus. Breakfast adequate. Not disturbed by flights (1st seem to start about 6am). Not an exciting place but fit for purpose.Staff friendly and helpfull
wi-fi unsecured but at least good connection in the room
We chose this hotel because we has an early flight from Catania - It was only about 5 Minutes with the car to the airport. The rooms seemed to have been revovated recently and were very clean. We had a two bedrooms with a shared bathroom - which was perfect for us with two small children. The bathroom was spotless and there were plenty of towels. The beds were comfortable too. Our room had a fantastic view to Etna, over the city and out to the sea. There was a good selection for breakfast.
