There's no beach access. There are private beaches available for other hotels - BUT - in high season - they all sell out. So we were in this silly situation of being 100m from the beach but not never got there(. The place is like Grand Budapest Hotel, it has seen its better days in the 70's.
Everything is wonderful. We extended our stay there for 3 times and did not want to leave.
A bit loud discos at nights and too loud music in the evenings at the hotel.
Location: a pleasant 15-20 minutes' walk into San Remo along the seafront. Gardens: comfortable and shady, pleasant for apertivi; generous drinks and apertivi buffet. History: it was fascinating to see the photographs of the hotel's grand period, including the visit of Eva Peron. To be fair this was probably reasonable value for money so close to San Remo's centre and fine for two nights' stay.
Ambience: we expected "faded grandeur" but in places this had faded into shabbiness. Room: it was small (but it was a budget double) and clean and comfortable enough but it had an odd layout with an entrance through a dark "hallway"; we had a standalone air con unit which was very noisy - we had to keep it on all night to be effective in the August heat. Food: we ate only breakfast which was a standard Italian buffet. Beach access: though close to the beach, the only access was on paid private beaches; the hotel does not have its own beach. The receptionist suggested Bagni Tahiti beach but we found it fully booked. We paid 25 euros for a day for two people, two sun loungers and a parasol on a nearby beach. The beaches were busy and sardine- packed, but it was the main holiday period.
We liked the quiet but good location, free bikes and Italian feel of this lovely grand old Hotel,we hope to return again soon.Good value.
light in room did not work room to small
Very good view in the window.
The hotel is very old, the TV screen is too small.
People were very kind and welcoming
The hotel looked a bit shabby from the outside but when you went inside it was really superb, with interesting antiques in the public areas the rooms were modern and comfortable, one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and in a great location. Breakfast was good and all together an excellent stay.
The closeness of the beach.
It was the worst 4star we have ever been to. Furniture and bathroom facilities from the mid '80s. Never, ever take the room 203, there is a door leading to the room n. 202, which is a scary, unfurnished place out of use.
palm trees and park around the hotel was ok. good place from city and close to France. downstairs nice old king style furnitures like in a museum.
furnitures were very old and smelly, bathroom was not so clean, got some skin problems after stepping on plastic slipery mat in the bath. room very noisy. breakfast very simple compare to Italian 4 star hotels.
