Staff and location
Squeaky bed prevented me from sleeping
Our room was great value, had air con, a sink, a comfortable bed and plenty of space. The breakfast was really good - fruit, yoghurt, cereal, croissants, toast, a big urn of coffee. Perfect start to the day! Overall, a great value hotel in a good location.
The WiFi signal was poor, and we couldn't connect in our room. Also, there were quite a few mosquitoes - perhaps nets on the windows would stop them getting in the rooms.
location, staff friendly and helpful. good value
shared toilet facilities.
V friendly staff walking distance to train station
Bit noisy v close to train line and airport noise , bed bit soft and saggy in the middle, air condition unit did not seem to cool well
Basic but good breakfast, they had a toaster, which we have not seen often! Easy 20 minute walk to the Tower, and very close to the station( train runs behind the hotel).
bed not very comfortable, again a double that is really two twins pushed together.
3 minute walking from Pisa centrale Airport 15 minutes in bus Very kind staff
Bed was in poor condition Room was just 100m from train rails Cleanliness not very good Internet just in lobby and very poor
The staff were very friendly and helpful The bed was comfortable and spotless. Good hot shower and good breakfast. Decor somewhat dated
The road from the station which was in a rough area Otherwise difficult to fault. We enjoyed our brief stay in Pisa and found the hotel fulfilled our needs
1. Location - 2 min walk from the train station, 15 min walk from the airport. 2. Nice breakfast. 3. Helpful staff - we got breakfast even at 4.30 am when checking out.
We stayed at Hotel Moderno on Saturday 27th September 2014, we arrived late at night. The first thing we did at midnight was buy a proper Italian pizza! It was really good, from a little pizzeria down the street and round the corner! The pizzeria owners got us involved in a birthday celebration! We had a glass of champagne each! Which we thought was so lovely!..The bed was comfy, ok for our one night stay. The room was clean. The staff were lovely and helpful, we were allowed to leave our luggage with them whilst we went to visit the leaning tower of pisa! Which was about a 20 minuet walk. The hotel is very close to Pisa station also which was really handy! :)
The area looked a bit dodgy, but was ok!
Staff was lovely and helpful. Room and bed was comfortable, bathroom clean. Room was quiet and air-conditioned. WiFi connection good. Breakfast and coffee available even for those with very early flights.
If staying longer we might select a room closer to the city center or tourist sites, though realizing it would be more expensive. However Hotel Moderno was still a convenient location and not too far to walk to everything we wished to see.
Just had a weeks holiday in Italy. Flew Newcastle - Pisa. Stayed first and last nights in Pisa, had two nights in Florence and three nights in Venice. Our first and last nights were in the HOTEL MODERNO which is situated in the centre of Pisa and is only about 200yds from the railway and bus stations. It is nice walk to the leaning tower which will only take about 20 mins.. Moderno is a family hotel and is run by Maurisio and his daughter Chiara. They both speak good english. We had an upstairs room at the back which was quite large, very quiet, and clean. Breakfast was ample. On asking Maurisio advice on a nice local restaurant he directed me to Ristornate 'LO SCHIACCIANOCI'. He informed me - 'Don't look at the outside, have a look inside'. He was correct. This lovely little family owned restaurant, run by Giovanni and his wife, was really good and far from expensive. It's where the locals go. We enjoyed it so much that when we returned to Pisa for our last night in Italy , there was no doubt as to where we were going to eat. Thank you Giovanni.
Inspite of arriving at 3:30am in the hotel there was a good welcome for us.The staff is very good.Excellent breakfast.Good hospatility.Overall the hotel met all our expectations... I will give my all stars to the hotel.when in Pisa always prefer for this hotel.
The hotel is near to the train station. The staff is very friendly. After checking-out it was possible to leave my luggage at the hotel in order to go sightseeing.
It's an old hotel with one shared bathroom on each floor. The breakfast is poor.
Very nice service
Wifi only available in the lobby
Great location, close to restaurants (approximately 20 min walk) train station and city centre. Free wifi was great but was only available at reception. Lovely and Very friendly staff.
The communal bathrooms were quite small, the water didn't drain well, there was a strong smell of sewage on the day we left and the floor was all wet and not mopped up (apparently due to other travellers not closing the shower door). The bed was a bit soft and furniture slightly dated. Had to sit next to reception in order to use the free wifi. Breakfast was an additional euro 6 which was not good value for money.
Easy to walk to from station (20min) Clean and tidy Breakfast included Late checkin
Nothing, for price much better than expected.
Close to the train station Close to the city centre Friendly staff
For this price I like everything
Friendly helpful welcome, late at night. Good breakfast. Few minutes ride by bus from airport and very Pisa near station for onward travel. Took us about 20 mins to walk across the city to the Campo dei Miracoli for the Duomo and Leaning Tower.
The hotel is 2-star and a little dated, so don't have high expectations but it is value for money in expensive Italy
Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Staff allows you to store your bags even after check-out.
A bit noisy at night.
Warm welcome even at 11.30pm. Happy cheerful staff in reception and breakfast area.
