A 5-minute walk from St. Mark's Square, elegant Starhotels Splendid Venice is set on a canal in the Mercerie area of Venice.

Opened in 1308, the Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo is one of the oldest hotels in Venice. It is set right behind St. Mark's Square, and features elegant rooms and a private pier.
Score from 1649 reviews Very good
In a privileged location 375 yards from Saint Mark's Square, Hotel Metropole offers luxurious rooms with antique furnishings and fine fabrics.
Score from 280 reviews Excellent
We booked exclusive room with grand canal view and were not disappointed. Very nice suite room with full on canal views. Hotel is very nice and staff is great. Great location with waterbus stop and St Mark's next door.
Wonderful location on Grand Canal just a few metres from St.Marks. Lovely little suite balcony. Staff were most helpful. Wonderful outside dining area alongside gondola station.
Too much furniture in suite, so difficult to move around. Breakfast at 25 euro rather expensive.
Great location helpful staff nice view everything is perfect for a nice break in venice
location near to stmarks
room very small, without any view. building close to the window. no double bed . just two bed joint together and very uncomfortable bed
No free Wifi
Very close to pier & st.Marco square. That is very important in Venice because there is like a labyrinth and there are so many steps and cobbled. Pier is just front of the hotel, and there have the room facing Grand canal. The room is not wide, but very comfortable and keep quiet, and breakfast is also enough and service is good.
Personal very kind, Room (was a suite) marvellous.
Morning breakfeast every day the same.
The common areas of the Hotel were brilliant. The staff were exellent and the lunch we had on arrival was equally good.
I'm afraid my Superior Double room was not really superior to anything other than 131 (very small) which we had to go into because our toilet system had broken.
I liked everything about the city and of course the hotel. Great staff & confort
Breakfast was a bit over priced for what that is really
The Concierge and receptionist service
Condition of the bath tub and lighting, and storage of toiletries in the bathroom. Too small for comfort.
The location is great.. right where you want to be when visiting Venice. Free Wifi that worked well. Helpful staff.
The bed was terrible. Maybe I'm just too picky but it was the worst I've ever slept on in a hotel of this caliber. The sheets, blankets, and pillows all felt like they were purchased from a discount store for less then a euro. Expensive breakfast not included (better just going outside and going to 1 of 100s of Cafes).
-Location -Acess to Grand Canale -Very fast room service
-Staff not passionate -A bar overlooking Grand Canale without soul -Potential to be an excellent experience, but not utilised.
the location is perfect. Near San Marco and near thez vaporetti
bedroom very small, bed not comfortable
Excellent stay. Rooms, breakfast, staff, location and the view from the terrace was just amazing. Will certainly stay here again when we come to Venice.
Location on the Grand Canal. Rooms were spacious and luxurious.
Shower was blocked only by a curtain which without care could get the bathroom floor wet. Staff could be more friendly. Breakfast is expensive.
I booked this hotel off-season (Nov) and got a great price. I've stayed here before and loved it and now, with the lower rates, I liked it even more. It is as if they have their own vaporetto and gondola stop, opposite Harry's Bar, steps from St Mark's Sq and so luxurious--why stay elsewhere?
My wifi didn't work on my IPad--only on my iPhone.
Very discreet, feeling like coming home to our nest after a day filled with impression from Venice and through a lot of people around Saint Marcus area. Also easy to reach all parts of la Serenissima with it's location. Breakfast and food also super !
The only thing lacking might be a gym together with spa facilities after long walks. Then I could stay a few more days inside of the hotel for awhile, bring som work and spoil myself with a massage or similar.
Location excellent Nice room Good service Free trip to murano glass industry
Double the price for a Saturday Expensive
This was a lovely hotel with the best possible location. A beautiful terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and wonderful for watching the world go by. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent and rooms large, clean and very comfortable. All in all a very good hotel and a wonderful base for visiting Venice.
a really fabulous location, and the deluxe double room overlooking the lagoon was large and comfortable, more like a mini suite. The hotel restaurant food was exceptionally good, and I noticed that the terrace on Sunday was packed with wealthy and appreciative Italians, surely a compliment
Breakfast was pretty pricey, at 25 euro a head, while the room breakfast was 18 euro just for a couple of croissaants, juice and coffee. The service was efficient, yet somehow rather chilly and impersonal. No help or advice was offered.
First class staff very friendly & accommodating. Views over canal were stunning
If I was to be critical the hotel is a bit tired and could do with an update but this would not stop me from returning.
Beautiful lobby and reception rooms were more of a classic style. Wifi was free but did not work that well. Hotel room was a good size bathroom was nice.
Wifi could have been improved hotel rooms could have been a bit more modern to suit the overall feel of the hotel.
The terrace for breakfast and bar snacks was excellent.
The scaffolding design in the main foyer did not enhance the beauty of the foyer. The bar just inside the terrace was quite depressing, no background music and the furniture was very 60's 70's design and lacked atmosphere.
Location for both walking and vaparetto
