The location was pretty good despite having to climb a very steep hill from the hotel to the main street. The coffee was excellent and the breakfast was lovely with beautiful views over the sea. The beds were very uncomfortable unless you like really really firm ones. It is rather expensive as the decor is a bit dated. However I think Taormina is an expensive location so the Monte Tauro is in keeping with local average.

View from balcony is stunning. Lavazza Coffee machine in the suite. Staff identified my husbands birthday from his passport and surprised us with a complimentory bottle of bubbles on our first evening! On arrival the receptionist immediately gave us a map and explained geography of the area. Any queries or room requests such as robes extra coffee were dealt with within 5 mins. Restaurant dining in the evening not a high point despite breakfast being excellent. Fab selection from freshly squeezed oj to boiled eggs and pasteries.

We really enjoyed the location, however it would be perfect if the hotel had a couple of lifts!!! Spent far too much time waiting for lifts, only 1 in an hotel that is dependent on them. Bar was a bit un -atmospheric, however this didn't matter as its so close to town. Not sure whether w got the 'superior' double room we paid for, as they all looked the same!!!!

Overall, it was very nice hotel with comfortable treatment by hotel staffs and great ocean view, and we really enjoyed our staying there, except 2 points below. 1. Hot water of shower always spattered for outside of shower booth even we carefully closed grass door of the shower, and made the floor of toilette always getting wet. That was quite inconvenient when we use toilette every day. 2. Some balconies (even inside of rooms) can be seen from glass-walled approaches of elevators, and this nice architecture could not create isolated environment when we spent our relax time in my balcony.

Notwithstanding previous negative comments made by guests, this hotel is fantastic. The location was great with outstanding views. Close to a lovely small town with lots going on. The staff were first rate and the hotel comfort and cleanliness could not be faulted. Breakfast was top class with lots of choices. True, this hotel is not next to the beach, we knew that because the hotel information sheet notified us that before we booked. This hotel is a must if you want peace and quiet, great views, good food and friendly obliging staff. Access to the hotel is difficult. It would be useful if directions to the hotel indicated that travel/access should be via via roma.

The staff are helpful and friendly. The setting is magnificent. It is situated very close to the beautiful gardens in Taormina and to the restaurants and shops yet peaceful and quiet. The breakfast is excellent as is the pool and surrounds.

The location of this hotel provides spectacular views over the bay of Naxos and is walking distance to all Taormina has to offer. After a room change request our balcony also allowed us to experience some fantastic views. The breakfast included was very substantial and bacon and eggs cooked to order was available. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Confusing address when using gps to find the hotel - better to use via Roma as the address. Wifi only available in limited public areas and of poor quality. The rooms are a bit tired looking.

Taormina is built into the hillside and this hotel really make you feel that you are suspended above the sea. Very modern Italian chic in an old city, which was fun. Can walk every where in town from here . Great breakfast in a beautiful setting. Very helpful and freindly desk staff . try to book an upper room for better view and then you can walk up a flight or two of stairs to get to lobby instead of using elevator (we were on 2nd floor)

The only thing I liked about the Hotel Monte Tauro was the location, very central and close to restaurants and shops. There was a nice view of the bay which was unfortunately ruined by bad weather. We did not enjoy our stay at the Monte Tauro and will not be recommending the hotel to our friends and family. We found the staff to be extremely rude and unfriendly, except for one really nice girl who was very helpful. The rooms were quite small and we did not feel we got value for money as we felt the rooms were overpriced for their average size. We asked for a Superior Double room and we were given a room with two single beds. When I asked could we possibly change rooms, the guys behind reception reluctantly gave us a key to another room, but wouldn't even lift his head to say hello or goodbye anytime we passed him by during the rest of our stay, just ignoring us. Unfortunately during our stay, the weather was really bad and rain was heavy so it meant staying in our room more than we would have liked, there was only one English speaking channel and no tea or coffee supplied. The water we were to use for washing and showers was brown and obviously dirty. The bar was boring and there was no entertainment or music provided for guests who were stuck in the hotel during bad weather. The food was average and the drinks way overpriced. We were hoping to have our wedding in Sicily next year, and possibly staying at the hotel with over 100 guests, but we will not be returning to The Hotel Monte Tauro.

Vriendelijk personeel, mooie ligging.
