On rainy nights you could hear the raindrops fall into the extractor hood (which kept me awake for hours). Though the apartment was thoroughly insulated, you could still hear a bit of the traffic on the busy road (Riviera Dionisio Il Grande), which calls for some serious speed bumps, as the speed limit (40kmh) is pretty much ignored by all cars.
This was our first visit to lovely Siracusa. The apartment had no less then three floors, including a large roof terrace, with stunning views over the Ionian Sea. The people at Musciara Resort (Laura and her brother Salvatore) are absolutely wonderful, and are willing to do anything to make your holidays a fantastic experience. Because it was Xmas time, the apartment was tastefully decorated, and some gifts were awaiting our arrival (a bottle of Prosecco and a Pandoro). The private beach is well kept and just around the corner. It was 24°C on Xmas-day 2014, so when lucky you can even take a dip in winter. Upon arrival the WiFi didn't seem to work, but the modem was replaced within a few hours. Ortigia, the picturesque peninsula, is just a few blocks away. Daytrips to Ragusa and Noto are very much recommended.
