This was our first visit to lovely Siracusa. The apartment had no less then three floors, including a large roof terrace, with stunning views over the Ionian Sea. The people at Musciara Resort (Laura and her brother Salvatore) are absolutely wonderful, and are willing to do anything to make your holidays a fantastic experience. Because it was Xmas time, the apartment was tastefully decorated, and some gifts were awaiting our arrival (a bottle of Prosecco and a Pandoro). The private beach is well kept and just around the corner. It was 24°C on Xmas-day 2014, so when lucky you can even take a dip in winter. Upon arrival the WiFi didn't seem to work, but the modem was replaced within a few hours. Ortigia, the picturesque peninsula, is just a few blocks away. Daytrips to Ragusa and Noto are very much recommended.
On rainy nights you could hear the raindrops fall into the extractor hood (which kept me awake for hours). Though the apartment was thoroughly insulated, you could still hear a bit of the traffic on the busy road (Riviera Dionisio Il Grande), which calls for some serious speed bumps, as the speed limit (40kmh) is pretty much ignored by all cars.
It was quiet. The room was not very spacios, but well organized. Good kitchen facilities. Good beach, nice balcony. Friendly staff.
Not enough hot water.
Very special place to stay on its own beach and sea views overlooking the magical city of Siracusa. Stunning breakfast on deck over the sea, beautiful sea swimming, luxurious conditions, gracious hosts.
Room was a little small.
Views across to Ortigia from the balcony of our apartment Size of the apartment Tranquillity of private beach
The walk to Ortigia from the resort was through a rather dirty and run down area - however it only took about 15 mins and it meant that we benefitted from the lovely views over Ortigia from the resort.
the people, the food, the landscape
Stunning private beach with sun loungers & daybeds in the shade. Breakfast on the waters edge - the best continental breakfast ever. Boutique styling of the hotel - light & airy & fragrant. Friendly staff. Very clean.
Lack of storage space in bedroom. The small Sea view room is very small & beach view room suffers from road noise. Restaurant expensive.
Restaurant food was very overpriced and less attractive than food on offer at other restaurants in the vicinity
Beach was beautiful, rooms were nice and eating breakfast by the sea is a real plus. Not too far to walk into Ortygia, which we did every day.
Food & drink prices were steep and we certainly paid more at the hotel than we did at the restaurants in Ortygia. Food was ok but not as fantastic as you would expect for the price.
The answer to what did we like is everything! The hosts Laura and Salvatore, the staff , the apartment and not forgetting Buddy the beautiful dog...our stay was memorable and we will definitely go back
Our wallet took a bit of a battering but hey ho you only live once !!
The Musciara resort is beautifully designed, the location by the sea is wonderful, great for swimming or just lying on the comfortable beach furniture. The staff are friendly (especially the owners) and helpful -- e.g. we arrived in the middle of the afternoon and there was no problem having a late lunch. The food is excellent. A lovely place. The walk to Ortigia is only 20 mins, and although the immediate area is a little shabby, this did not bother us at all. And the restaurant next door in the carpark with the plastic chairs is fantastic!
The restaurant is a bit pricey for Siracusa (20 Euro for a main course), though the food is very good. There is no reception, which is a bit odd. But all in all, no real downside.
A wonderful location with a short walk to the old city Ortigia. The hotel itself very fashionable and beautifully designed. A very nice private beach with nice beds. All staff members are very friendly and offer the best service you could expect. The best place to stay while visiting this region. I would recommend it to everyone looking for a luxurious place to stay.
Superbly maintained beach and hotel. Great team of staff, laid back atmosphere and fantastic breakfast. Lunch and dinner excellent, but a little pricey. Owner very helpful and friendly.
Shower in our room was strangely small - there was plenty of room for a bigger one!
It's just one of the nicest places we've ever stayed, the staff were all very nice, the food & the location were amazing!
The wifi was a bit sketchy at times but that's a very minor complaint
Fabulous beach and private apartment.
The drinks and food are rather expensive. Also, no cleaning in the apartment for our whole week's stay (you can request it but with a heavy charge).
The resort was stunning, a comfortable, old world feel with many modern luxuries. Breakfast was great every morning (ricotta, honey and pistachios was a revelation) and dinner was also delicious. Proximity to ortygia was essential.
The beachside entrance wasn't immediately evident to our ride, so we ended up going in through the street side door. That's nitpicky, though, the resort was great
Nice setting, private beach, excellent breakfast, helpful people,
The small room is not small as indicated but very very small. The pictures of the website give not a correct impression. The indicated size of the room is with the bathroom included. Quality of restaurant is poor. Owners have no interest in their guests.
excellent location of this hotel, a short bike ride from the old city center, but allowing you to relax on the private sand beach after the activities of the day! ideal for couples or families with older children, who want to combine sightseeing and relaxing. very friendly staff (the hotel manager is also part of the owner family and personally makes sure that your stay just the way you like it). very good breakfast buffet: you start your day eating fruit, cereals, cakes or typical Italian food (salami, ham, cheese) while looking at the fish in the sea. Possibility to have lunch or dinner there too. Rooms are impeccable, well cleaned and with modern appliances. Perfect high-end hotel for travelers who want to feel almost like home while on holiday! really recommended...
location setting beach waterside dining and drinks
Very difficult to describe how good this hotel is, we stayed for 4 nights in early Sept. Room, Breakfast, Staff, Private beach were all excellent. Great location and a pleasant 10/15 min stroll into Ortigia for shopping and restaurant. An absolute must for anybody visiting the area!!
Nothing, just wished we had stayed longer.
Setting beautiful on beach. Staff and service excellent. Very relaxing and stress free enviroment. Would highly recommend.
Room had no storage. There was a large wardrode with almost no space. A set of drawers would be helpful. Wifi very patchy. Only seemed to work downstairs.
Everything from the decoration to the beach facilities, the staff hospitality, the breakfast, the terrace, etc.
bathromm size and storage space in rooms could be larger
Great location, private beach, neutral hamptons meets Sicily decor, cheerful owner
Small bathrooms, not enough storage space for clothes or towels. Staff young and eager but forget orders at times
Beach Immaculately clean Decor Privacy
Pricey drinks, including coffee and water Staff friendly but unschooled in etiquette
Good breakfast, nice little private beach area, friendly staff
we had a room facing the streetside which was a bit noisy at night, we could not leave the window open. If available go for aroom with sea view to avoid the street noise. Breakfast started at 8:00, not good for early birds or for the ones who hve to leave early to catch a flight. A special arrangements for those would have been nice
Lovely looking hotel, great little private beach and fabulous breakfast right by the sea.
The owners showed absolutely no interest in their guests. They spent the whole time watching the staff on CCTV or monitoring them from a deckchair with walkie-talkies, waiting for them to make the slightest mistake and then berating them constantly. Subsequently the staff were terrified and this was an uncomfortable experience. The hotel was far too expensive for what it was and although the breakfast was really good, the lunch and evening menu was very poor. We also paid an awful lot more for a room with a private terrace but found when we got there we had to share the terrace with another room so never had any privacy. As this was our 20th wedding anniversary we wanted something really special and feel very disappointed.
