Boasting a central spot, and comfortable, spacious rooms, Il Ghiro Guest House is a small hostel offering a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, just 220 yards from Santa Maria Train Station.
Score from 121 reviews Very good
Great location, kind staff no issues or problems, able to walk from the station with ease, 5 mins away, Small supermarket opposite and cafes and restaurants close by
I don't like how I have nothing bad to say about this fantastic b&b. Everyone should stay here. #TeamNovellaHouse
Francesco and his sister were excellent hosts and they provided us a map with all the places of interests and how to get there as well. They also recommended a fantastic restaurant just 50 meters away from the hotel. The place was also clean and extremely huge( more like a suite or apartment) and a definite value for money.
The only thing was that we could hearthe reception clearly as if they wer ein our room even though windows were closed. This was a problem when we first arrived and tried to rest in the afternoon.
I liked the service. Although no breakfast was included there was a coffemachine, coffee and packed pastries, minifridge with water and juice Available free. Room was cleaned everyday. Also francesco lets you leavebags in a locked room after checkout to pick them later free.
Our rooms were on the ground floor and had a window to the street. Even with the shutters closed it was noisy at night time - especially when the early morning laundry carts rolled past on the cobblestones. Some ear plugs solved this problem on night two - and the next four nights sleep were much better.
An easy walk from Santa Maria Novella train station, and easy to walk to all major tourist destinations. We were very warmly welcomed by this family run accommodation, and our very large suite of rooms was a joy to behold. The large sitting room and bedroom both featured beautifully frescoed ceilings. A shower room and separate bathroom/powder room completed our accommodation. Good shower pressure and lots of hot water, large heated towel rails and good quality hairdryer had us very happy. Excellent dining recommendations were given to us - good local food at very attractive prices - we felt like a local in no time. No breakfast included - but a very generous tray including snacks, cakes, biscuits, fruit juices and large selection of teas and coffees. A good quality coffee machine in the room was also very welcome. I will stay here again.
A little slow wifi
Big room, old fashion classic, good location to walk to in the firenze
the staffs are the best, help me a lot. if you can see that i will say thanks for all your help. also, the room is old style but it is comfort and clean, location is good, it is esay to go everwhere. it is no brearkfast, but the hotel offer milk, water and biscuit, they also have oil and salt etc in the kitchen.
location was excellent , 5 mins from station , accommodation very clean and comfortable
Feel cold and lonely place in nightmare
Just a location nearest but station that walk in 5 minutes from hotel.
A big room，many kinds of delicious free food，comfortable bathroom，great location…all those of Novella House are great！The boss is so handsome，and his Mom is very nice.I'm sure that I'll book Novella House next time in Florence.
the structure in the room I lived is a little bit wired and also not so warm
the host is friendly and cute italian, it was really pleasant to say ciao to him everyday. also gives many helpful advise makes the trip here excellent. I LOVE FLORENCE!
Nothing! Practically impossible to find any fault.
The staff i.e. Francesco was so friendly and helpful. He kept our luggage at 9 am - long before checkin time in a locked room so that we can pay a quick visit to Pisa and come back. The room - it isn't a room - it is a full blown flat with all amenities possible. the bed was decorated and true Firenze style with a great view of the paintings on the ceiling. Breakfast not included or served - but he provided ample cakes, biscuits and beverages for self catering. Plus there is a small kitchen if you want to prepare something quick. If not don;t worry - plenty of options to eat around. It is a smal walk away from Duomo and very straight forward directions. We will go back soon to Florence and stay here again.
There was a lot of noise from the street in the bedroom on the front of apartment late into the night.
Francesco greeted us when we arrived and was helpful when we needed information or getting a taxi. Very spacious apartment accommodating our group of six comfortably. The shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure. We appreciated the assortment of complimentary snacks, tea and basics of bottled water, juice and milk provided. Elevator was very helpful for getting luggage upstairs. Great location close to train, restaurants and tourist attractions. Internet access.
WiFi is NOT good
owner is very nice help us a lot to book gallery which is value added service
The Wifi is slow.
very beautiful house, everything is excellent!! nice guy~~~
The location was great, close to the central station and a few minutes away from the Dome. You can get to the city center really quick. The staff are very welcoming and the rooms are nice and clean. A bonus is the elevator.
The room was a little bit cold and it was being heated by central heating radiators after 7pm. I heard drunk people's shouts late at night while trying to sleep in the bed.
Friendly behaviour of personnel.
Noisy... Very loud from apartments around. Our son was concerned by adult men arguing in near by apartment. Lack of heat in main bedroom.
The apartment was large and clean. There was plenty of hot water for showers. Kitchen available if needed.
Nothing. Cobblestone paths are all over Europe and WiFi in Italy is average at best.
Great location handy to train, town centre, Uffizi, Duomo, shopping. Staff are fantastic and always helpful. Recommend sta Ying here great value for money.
Easy to access, and lovely room. love it.
Everything is good!
The rooms need a little updating. The furniture could do with a varnish and the carpets could be removed. Particularly the shower but it was clean and we were comfortable.
Novella House was in an excellent location, very close to the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The guy who checked us in even met us at the door. The room was also quite big.
The location is good.
location and treatment
Wifi is fast, superb location, close to all amenities. Host was very helpful and friendly, respond to query very promptly. Shower is not so practical but it's acceptable. Recommend this B&B!
