Novotel Genova City  

Although I booked a room with 100% cancellation allowed up to 18.00 on day of arrival, the hotel pre-charged full cost of room on day before arrival and then charged full cost again on check-out.

This hotel is an excellent value. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cocktail lounge and bar are very relaxing. The bartender was very professional. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was expensive (14 euros/person). A better option is to have breakfast elsewhere. The main drawback is the hotels location. Its about a 20 minute walk through some rather uncomfortable sections of Genoa to reach the center of the city or the waterfront. Busses are readily available, however. A taxi is a very good option with a cost of about 15 euros to the city center.

good value for money stay ,good location close to cruise ship terminal

I booked the Novotel as it was the only hotel with an outdoor pool but unfortunately it closed the day before we got there, would have preferred to have been in the centre otherwise. Free internet in lobby.

Restaurant and bar were too expensive. Not v central, not much near the hotel have to get the bus all the time (maybe 10min to acquarium) but there are quite a few that pass the hotel and all are v regular. Beware the no 1 doesnt stop on the same street coming back!!

Car park was easy to access

Tatty looking inside, rooms and facilities past their sell by date, carpet in lift was dirty. Bathrooms look like run down hospital facilities.

Generally clean room, efficient staff, nice lobby. The bathroom is not great but OK. Nice bed and very nice pillow stowed in the closet. A short walk to local bus stop.

The pool closes at 19:00. Sofa can use some cleaning. Noisy AC vent. Fee for internet. The bus route suggested by the front desk does not go directly to the train station, there's a little walking involved after the short bus ride.

At the time of our visit the hotel was having a "Summer Special Buffet" at their restaurant. It was 22Euro per person excluding drinks and the food on offer was delicious! They gave a good variety and had a waiter on hand to ensure the food was replenished as quickly as it disappeared.

The hotel allows pets so as a result the corridors of the hotel do smell of dog. It also appeared a bit run down and a bit of a disappointment for a Novotel Hotel. The swimming pool on the second floor is also quite small so on busy days it feels too crammed to leisurely enjoy.

Somebody broke into our room during the night completely drunk. I said I was going to call the manager and he said the he was the manager. No security...Stay away !!! I asked for a written response for the happening, and never got it. Dangerous place
